Am I the only one that kind of feels like throwing up? HOLY SHIT, THIS EPISODE. Creepiest one of the season, I think. The perfect amount of suspense executed wonderfully.
Okay, I was worried at how they would tie everything together, or that they would try to wrap it all up completely and send us viewers packing to a brand new house, family, and story line... but oh my gosh! This finale was beyond amazing and wonderfully executed, it was so amazing to see the family come together to try and keep others from suffering like them. The most interesting aspect was, however, that they actually did find happiness in the house. I loved seeing the Harmons together at the Christmas tree, but it was equally enjoyable to watch the spirits work together to scare off the new buyers.
The episode was fun, suspenseful, heart warming/ wrenching, and wonderfully written and executed. I say it is the perfect wrap to an stunning television show. I'm so intrigued to see where they take this Michael (Anti-Christ) story line in season two. Such a disturbing cliffhanger.
So where does everyone see the show going next season?
Obviously we'll have a new family moving in with their own set of problems. But, will we meet new ghosts that are part of the house that we have yet to meet? Where do you see this Anti-Christ storyline heading? What caused the house to become posessed? Did Tate do all the killings on his own, or was he possessed? Is there actually a way to get rid of ghosts?
Very well-done season finale. Wrapped everything up nicely and gave it a weirdly happy ending (except for poor Flora). All my guesses for what would happen tonight....wrong. All wrong.
Strange how Travis slit Hayden's throat, just to distract her so he could get the baby (because you can't kill a ghost). I liked how Moira explained that there are good ghosts, so the ghost-family conspired to help the new family get away. (And nice to see the alien First Lady from The Event as the wife).
It is true that therapy cannot help psychopaths, yet as Ben was telling Tate about how therapy is nothing but a big joke, I muttered to myself, "Well, yeah Ben, the way YOU practice it!)
Tate is a psychopath and so he knew exactly what he was doing, but put on an act and pretended he remembered nothing of his crimes. He confessed to Ben all his crimes of murder and torture. And his kid is turning out to be a chip off the old block.
Fantastic ep and finale! Kudos to the writers for taking the story in directions that I would never guessed that they would in tying up the season and would've made a great series finale as well, but the intrigue of what will the demon seed spawn will do/become will be an interesting tale to watch.....
Originally the creators had planned on having each season be a new story in a new place. So I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Season 2 taking place in Illinois (where the Burned Man was carted off to). John Wayne Gacey killings, prison, and the return of world's most optimistic headshot enthusiast? I can't imagine the show going anywhere else next season. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Constance/Michael story line pop up again if the show continues on for quite a few more seasons, but I don't think we'll return to it any time soon.
It's so weird, I have no idea where the next season will go, with that final speech by Constance it would almost be a shame if the storyline didn't continue, but then again, where would it go? This is just one of the most interesting tv shows in a while, certainly since Lost, I never saw it happening this way, but woah, its good.
I saw this season ending in 1 of 2 ways. Either prolonging the story of the Harmons and their demonic baby, or killing them all off, letting them become a more positive influence on the house, etc. but not sure about what would happen to the baby. I'm glad that the latter happened!
I think that it was the calm AFTER the storm and before the next storm. I have no idea how they can keep this up for more than 2 seasons, but as of now, this show has 2 thumbs up from me because I loved how it was almost the opposite of the series pilot... It was quiet, not overblown, the family loved each other, it was coherent, and well-acted. The Harmons found...harmony in that house, which is a bright spot in a dark place. Ben finally became a better person in a way, and called Tate on his bullshit, Violet is happy with her family finally, and Vivien has her little boy. Moira has someone treating her like a decent human being, and the "others"...Hayden and Tate are all shut out from the festivities.
I don't know what season 2 will be about, but I hope they can keep it THIS good for at least another season. It was the Anti-Murphy effect: It started out as a ridiculous mess, and turned into a great show.
What are we going to do with that little rugrat? He's so precious. Let me clean the blood off his fingers.
I agree with literally everything you said, but what really annoys me is that although Hayden and Tate are out in the cold, they're not really are they, admittedly the Harmons got a one up on them this time and got the family out, but you know, they have to live with them and everything.
Also, am I the only one who just doesn't buy Hayden's characterisation. She was just his fling and then in the space of a few months she becomes this totally evil character rather than just a pissed off dead person, it's something I really don't get, but eh, whatever
I don't see her as evil. I see her as vengeful and possibly a little sociopathic. She had a pretty rough last few months and to be killed in that way and stuck there on top of it all, I'd be pretty "evil" myself.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I loved it! Ghost!Ben is so much better than Alive!Ben. And yay at the baby! Whoa at Michael, the anti-christ baby!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great finale, and I can't wait for next season.

ReplyDeleteTrue, true. I just kept imagining that he was actually getting possessed by Satan (because of the Anti-Christ thing going on.)
ReplyDeleteI guess I'd just like to believe that Tate is actually a good person. (Lol, crazy, I know.)
