Game of Thrones - Season 2 Filming has Wrapped

12 Dec 2011

Yesterday, while we waited anxiously for the new trailer, producer’s assistant Cat Taylor tweeted that filming has officially wrapped on the second season of Game of Thrones.
"That’s it! Just wrapped on #GameOfThrones series 2! Can’t wait to see it, and the team next year!"

All told, the filming lasted 140 days and spanned three countries and dozens of individual locations. Pretty amazing for a TV show. Now begins the process of taking all that film and editing it down to approximately 10 hours of television. Not to mention adding the sound, music, and, of course, the special effects.

  7. According to a few unconfirmed sources including Charles Dance who plays Tywin Lannister, they will begin filming in May/June.

There has been talk of filming Season 3 and 4 concurrently so the early start date makes sense, but I doubt there will be any "official" word until the Season 2 premiere. Soon after the ratings come out and  are HUGE HBO will renew for 2 years and it will be official....

    So I hope. XD

  9. I heard about the concurrent filming plan and is why I figured they'd start next season early.  I figured they'd give it a go even before May / June but I guess something like this takes extra planning from all areas of production.
