Game of Thrones - Interview - Charles Dance Talks Thrones and Playing Villains

11 Dec 2011

According to Dance (and other rumors online) filming of Season 3 will start in May or June soon after Season 2 airs. This adds a little credibility to the earlier rumor that HBO will film Seasons 3 and 4 in one go. The earlier start date gives them plenty of time to not be rushed before the Season 3 premiere date.

Dance, who plays Tywin Lannister, said:
"We just finished the second series of Game of Thrones - we start [again in] May / June of next year," revealing: "I haven't read what we're going to be shooting."

  1. Dance seems like a fun guy! I love him still doing new things in his career even after his 60th birthday!

I am excited they will be filming Season 3 and 4 concurrently, but I wonder if that means less leaked images and BTS videos will be put out for the production since so many promotional materials for Season 2 will be out at the time.....

  2. Thank you! Great guy indeed! I love how Charles Dance talks genuinely about his work as an actor and how is laughing gently about people in the street, those who told him about his "quite spectacular" character's death! :-)
I like how the interview ends with Last Action Hero! ("...I said I have murdered a man and I want to confess!""Hey! Shut up ya there!"LOL)
And I love the fact that he mentioned Terry Pratchett, because I'm such a big fan!

  3. I love this man's accent, and his take on the acting industry. I hate Tywin Lannister, but he's great at it.

  4. These Lannisters are the ultimate representation of villainy. And Tywin is the grand father of the villains... Eager to watch what sort of evil they will do next season.
