Doctor Who - Simon Pegg is not interested in movie-acting

a few days ago, we posted on spoiler tv "8 Actors Who Could Play Doctor Who In Film Reboot". now, it looks like, we could remove one name: Simon Pegg, who recently tweeted:

"It’s nice to be thought of but I do not want the part and wouldn’t accept it if were offered to me. I did my Who time and died. The end.” (via)

sad news (for me), but at least we have seven (and a lot of more) "hot" actors who could be jumpin' the boat and dressing like the next doctor who. thaughts?

  1. He tweeted that before the 8 Actors post was up, it was talked about back then too iirc lol

  2. I don't think any self respecting Who fan would want to be in the film

  3. I'm a lil bias these days ever since he sent me a very rude DM on twitter, but I think he's a bit too far up his own butt these days ;(  Which is a shame as Spaced is probably one of my favourite shows ever, lol.

  4. I think this pretty much sums up my feelings towards this movie.

  5. I'm fairly positive for it atm, but if RTD gets his paws on it I know I won't be enjoying it:(  I'd for the film to go back to the start and show him growing up on Gallifrey for example, I think that could work well.

  6. Is that to me about Pegg?  He called me a c*** :s

  7. He was stuck at an airport in the US last year during the snow and couldn't get home.  He made some joke about it, then took exception to others replying to him about it and DM'd some of us when he lost his temper.  I know he was angry, but I think it was outta line :(

  8. Since the movie's been discussed as a 'radical re-imagining,' or some phrase along those lines, I'd actually be pretty startled if anyone affiliated with the show wound up on the film as well.

(And if it really /is/ a radical re-imagining, it may be that none of them would _want_ to.)

  9. I'm assuming that the 'we' he is referring to is Jane Tranter who is head of BBC Worldwide in LA, and who is the backer for the film and Yates.  When she was head of BBC Wales she pushed and pushed for RTD to be the one to bring the show back in 2005.  This is why I have a slight worry that she may do this again :(

  10. Okay, I've been thinking about this movie and I think it might work. If they go back to the Doctor's younger days on Gallifrey, and the beginning of the Dalek war, I think this might be a damn good movie. Cast some new actor, not any previous Doctor; and at the end of the movie, make him get some sort of plastic surgery to turn into the First Doctor.

  11. I was with you up until the plastic surgery XD  I think it has to be completely stand alone canon in order to work.  Trying to tie it down with what has happened in the show will be damn near impossible imo.

  12. I didn't mean actually surgery. Just some way of altering his appearance (surely they could come up with something). But you are right: It will be hard to pull it off successfully. That's why I think just going back to the beginning would be the most likely option. As to who (no pun intended) would play the Doctor, I have no ideas. I've heard Alan Rickman suggested, that might work. Any ideas?

  13. Boo. I'm not a Dr.Who buff but I'd like to see Simon Pegg in that,
