  1. This sounds really interesting and I can't wait for it!

  2. Oooh.. more about the team... Joy!

I guess the downward spiral continues.

  3. I'm not really feeling it this season, I only tuned back in because JJ was back but my joy at having them all together is waning.  I can't help feel they are all becoming caricatures of themselves, esp when Morgan says 'baby doll' at least once in every episode now :\

  4. I never would have guessed it from when he played Dutch The Shield, but Karnes plays one incredible scheming psycho!

  5. Indeed, my fav character has to be Tara's ex in SoA, he was just psychotic! :DD

  6. His interaction with Garcia used to amuse me, but honestly more often than not it annoys me now. Agreed.

It just feels to me that this entire season so far has been an apology to fans that they did not need or deserve. CBS is kowtowing to public opinion and making it more and more about the personal lives of the team and spending less time on the unsubs. Not so coincidentally this year has had some of the least compelling unsubs.

  7. He was scary good!

  8. I think you're bang on the money there, there's a reason most shows don't bow to fan pressure.... :(

  9. Ironic because a lot of other people seem to think that they aren't spending enough time on the team and too much time on the unsubs. I think the Morgan/Garcia banter was much worse in previous seasons and this season seems to have had less focus on each team member than any other. I honestly can't seem to sort out these complaints. The show seems to be doing everything wrong for contradicting reasons.

The title of this episode alone makes it seem pretty epic.

  10. I think you're right about there being less Garcia and Morgan banter....  I think the banter is getting stale to me more than it is increasing in frequency.

I don't agree about less focus on the members though. We have seen more of their personal lives this year than before. We got into back stories and into the team members in the past too, but most of the time it was case related like Gideon's good bye episodes, Rossi's story line about the charm bracelet and missing kids, and Reid taken by Tobias Henkle. All were brilliant.

Now we get an ex-wife who's never been part of the show showing up to die. School bullying but nothing to do with an unsub case... it's with Hotch's son. We've seen more of JJ's marital issues. Then finally this week it was Hotchner  (who has no free time of his own and is known to spend more time in the office than most people) is suddenly training for a triathlon so he can meet a new possible girlfriend.

Almost every episode this year has has at least one scene completely unrelated to the case and about personal aspects of the team members we would not have seen in the past. At least not as frequently.

It feels different to me and not case related. There has been an increase in end segments that are not about the case but about the team as well,  the social drinks or dinners are on the rise!

  12. I'm expecting this to be quite harrowing for the poor women :(

  13. Sometimes the writers go a little to far,and a little to graphic. It makes me wonder if it gives the psychos in the world ideas on how to torture people, then kill....I remember one show where the guy torture, killed, then brought them back to life, just to do it all over again.Nope it wasn't a show it was a book by John Sandford, damn book gave me horrible dreams for a few nights, lol. :0

    ReplyDelete
  14. Sandford can do that... Some of those killers in the Prey series are just disturbing! It's not that they're overly viscous or worse than other writers, but I feel them more.. Eeeek!

Yeah I like true crime and serial killer genre media, but I do wonder if the more graphic elements are like porn for serial killers or disturbed individuals in their gestation period. I mean, to not have any darkness or grittiness cheapens any death or serial killer genre show, but where does one draw the line?

I guess I tend to look at it as entertainment and a psychological ride that can be as dark or graphic as it wants... assuming it's not gratuitous! Then again, I'm not a serial killer ....

  15. LOL :)..........Okay i stopped laughing at your neatly kept tomato garden.
your right about the Prey series, they sure give me the willies. You know i never thought about how the graphic nature of there act affects them,i wonder maybe it is like porn, yikes my imagination can and does get a little to vivid  for my likely at times......

  17. Just noticed there is Prentiss' therapist in the episode. This is gonna be so good!

  18. Always love big milestone marking episodes.  Hope it lives up to the usual expectations for those big-name episodes!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah, I just caught that too! Had no idea Prentiss was seeing a therapist, good for her, and I'm sure Hotch can help her out as well... ;D

    ReplyDelete
  20. Finally! Prentiss dealing with what happened to her!

  21. Darque, don't be like that....a lot of fans had been asking for more about the team's personal life and they got it... I watch it still, even though I am usually doing something else it's just background noise.. next season might be it's last so just enjoy what's left

    ReplyDelete
  22. I still watch, but as the episodes become less about the unsubs and more about the team I am losing interest fast!

I know fans asked for it and this season is the producers way to apologize after last year. I get it. Does not mean I have to like ti though. XD

  23. I'm finding myself doing other things while I have it on these days too, before chatting here about I was trying to work out if it was the show in particular, or the genre that was starting to bore me a lil.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I've wondered too, but I settled on it is the show.

I still love watching other dark crime drama on BBC or ITV.  I just re-watched Whitechapel again in preparation for Series 3 and loved it....Likewise with Above Suspicion I watched last month.

  25. OMG!!!  I get the 150th episode, which is kinda Prentiss-centric (she's my favourite) on my 16th birthday!  Best present EVER.
