Combat Hospital - Completely cancelled despite being a hit in Canada

16 Dec 2011

Combat Hospital was a monster hit in Canada. The big budget, Toronto-lensed co-production's failure to break through south of the border on ABC has apparently doomed the series. No major U.S. partner stepped in after ABC walked to help defray the costs of a second season.

Combat Hospital was co-produced by Shaw Media whose current scripted productions include Lost Girl,Rookie Blue,Bomb Girls,XIII: The Series,King,Titanic,The Firm,Haven, World Without End and Out of Time.

  4. I am sad about this. I actually liked watching this show over the summer. It also reminded me of China Beach, which did air on ABC during its day, and I loved that show as well. Good cast here with great episodes every week. I was invested in the characters and this show, and I was hoping for a second season this summer.

  6. I'm not surprised.  After ABC pulled out I figured this might happen despite it's popularity in Canada, which was a bit surprising anyway considering how bland the series was.

  9. It's a shame that good....no GREAT....Canadian television has to bow down to the Americans.  It's disgusting that we can't enjoy a show and see it come back for another season just because theyricans don't like it as much.  All they seem to be interested in is stupid and ridiculous reality shows.  I mean, come on... the housewives shows??  Crap is what I say most of them are!  Again, great Canadian drama falls to the almighty American Dollar.
