CBS execs are not pleased by Robert de Niro's 2-2 and Aaron Sorkin gets a Newsroom

The 2-2 is put back in the closet. CBS chose to change the name of their upcoming Richard Price/Bob de Niro copshow, which is now named NYC 22. Still no premiere date for this show following rookie cops in the streets of New York.

TVNewser learned that Aaron Sorkin's new show, More as the Story Develops, will eventually be called Newsroom (there's also the possibility that it could be The Newsroom, HBO still hasn't decided between the two options). This show, following Will McCallister (played by Jeff Daniels) and his staff (including Emily Mortimer, Olivia Munn and Alison Pill) working on his cable news show "News Night", will start during the 2012/2013 season on the pay-cable channel.

Also, Rob Schneiber's ambitious, non-bigot new sitcom ¡ROB! is renamed ROB, because the journalists don't want to have to write a reversed exclamation point. ¡Come on! If the reporters are too lazy to find out how to do it, they could type an 'i' before ROB and it does the trick if you're not picky, but then people might think iROB is a new iPhone app that steals people's money... like there aren't enough of those already. But anyway, it doesn't matter, the critics won't have to write down ROB a lot, the show's gonna last three weeks.

  2. Love Sorkin. Hope Newsroom or whatever they call it lasts longer than Studio 60 did.

  4. Starting to get all anxious for another Sorkin show. Please let this one survive more than a season.

  5. Don't ya think 3 weeks is reaching? I gotta go with 2.

  6. I'm one of those that has almost lost hope, so my welcoming of (The) Newsroom will be distant and lukewarm at best :/

  7. It's HBO, so ratings aren't that important to them. Even shows with abysmal ratings get renewed, it's all about the story at HBO.

  8. I wouldn't worry at all. HBO chooses quality over ratings these days. Otherwise a lot of their shows would have got cancelled already.
