Castle has enlisted Lost and Supernatural vet Mark Pellegrino to headline its upcoming 1940s-set film noir-themed episode, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Pellegrino will play Tom Dempsey, a ruthless club owner from 1947 who has it out for a private eye and his best girl (who Castle imagines as himself and Beckett) and whose shadowy dealings may be tied to a murder Castle and Beckett are investigating in the present day.

    I'm always glad to see Pellegrino show up on programs I regularly watch.  Somewhere out there, there's a series-regular role on an awesome show with Mark's name all over it.  When that day comes, I'll definitely give it a look.

    Pellegrino made it close in 2011.  Sheppard edged him out, 25 TV appearances to 19.  The final numbers could end up closer if Pellegrino makes any more appearances on TNT's The Closer before the end of the year.

    I'm still hoping for Sheppard to come back on Leverage.  Not sure that's a viable dream right now but Sterling is my second favorite character Sheppard plays.  After Crowley of course.

    From the interview I read after his last appearance, it doesn't seem like he'll be showing up anymore this season.  Probably next season though.
