The Harmon home has become one crowded house. American Horror Story goes into its first-season finale after stuffing its main set with at least two dozen ghosts, with more sure to be added after tonight. It's a wonder that Ben, Viv, and Violet took so long to notice all the supernatural shenanigans afoot, considering that they've got the numerical equivalent of an erratically populated frat house living in their Hancock Park manse! (Well, maybe it's not a wonder that Ben took so long to notice. He is a handsome idiot, after all.) With all those spirits trapped in the Harmon home, we thought it was time for a roll call. Our rules: The ghosts only qualify for this list if they've appeared on-screen in ghost form, so no extra characters are included who were introduced in FX's backstory-expanding promotional websites. It's packed enough in there already!

It depends on if the stillborn baby and Frankenbaby are ghosts, but I counted 23 for sure (25 with the babies). Charles & Nora. Two twin boys. Black Dahlia. Hayden. Travis. Larry's wife. Larry's two daughters. Beau. Tate. Violet. Vivian. Chad. Patrick. Moira. Constance's husband (Hugo?). The virgin nurse who was stabbed. The nurse who drowned. The exterminator. The two copy-cat killers who tried to kill Vivian and Violet. And then Frankenbaby and the stillborn baby, if they are included.
ReplyDeleteThis is really interesting, but I still have one big question with this series. The ghosts on the property are ghosts because of the property, or it seems that way, so why are the guys and girls Tate killed at the school ghosts? They didn't die in the house.
ReplyDeleteVery good question. I have questions, too. Such as, why did Moira age, but not the others?
ReplyDeleteWell, ghosts can exist anywhere. It's not the house that's specifically breeding ghosts.
ReplyDeleteMoira didn't age - It's just the way men perceive her versus the way women perceive her.
ReplyDelete10 more minutes until the Season Finale starts here in Texas!
ReplyDeleteI think that since Tate could leave the house on Halloween, his personal ghosts could get him. Maybe they're not allowed in the house, just like Tate is not allowed to leave (although they were on the front porch, I think)
ReplyDeleteI think that Moira is two people because she kinda died as two people. Constance saw her as a whore (the young sexed-up maid), but really she was innocent (the older maid).
ReplyDeleteThey showed up on Halloween, when all spirits can take form and roam.
