Each year, AFI AWARDS honors excellence in the moving image arts within the context of a Year in Review. This is the next chapter in AFI's national mandate — specifically, the creation of an annual almanac that records and preserves the evolution of the moving image arts in the 21st century.

Check out the nominees in their video or simply look at the list below:

Breaking Bad
Boardwalk Empire
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Game of Thrones
The Good Wife
Homeland
Justified
Louie
Modern Family
Parks and Recreation

  1. Hard to argue with that list!

At least a handful of those series could be on a top 10 list for the decade...

  2. It is hard to argue with some of their list, I agree, although there are a couple of shows that wouldn't make it into my top 10.  Still don't expect everyone to like everything!

  3. Oh that is not my Top 10 either.....
Louie, Modern Family, and Parks and Recreation would not be there. At least from what I have seen of those 3 they are quality shows unlike the shows that make up many "top" lists.

  4. Louie! Love that show and am glad it's getting some well-deserved recognition.

  5. Pretty good list. I'd include Community instead of Modern Family, but otherwise there's not much to argue about. Especially happy about to see Louie and Parks & Rec there, they unfortunately get overlooked way too often.

  6. I think I should keep watching Homeland... I saw the 1st ep and I liked it, but I have no time!!!!!!! AHHHHH XD

  7. The great thing about Homeland is it will not take too much time to catch up once you start since it's only 13 episodes for the season. Okay, there are a lot more great things, but that's a nice one for people with little time! XD

  9. There are others I'd like to see on the list, but I'm happy that The Good Wife and Parks and Rec. made it.

  10. I agree on the whole.
Maybe not Boardwalk Empire on a personal note, but otherwise yes.

  13. Good Wife and Game of Thrones are more than deserving! I love it. I also started watching Homeland. It was really good, but I have yet to finish.

  14. Disagree with Modern Family being there (seriously its fun but so overrated) and I don't watch Louie or The Good Wife but everything else listed is fantastic.

  15. What about The Vampire Diaries?!  It's consistently the best.
