I kind of don't want the truth to come out about the Shane and Otis thing - I think Shane get's a lot of crap that he doesn't necessarily deserve as it is. Can't believe it's a whole 3 months away! I'm enjoying this season a lot more than the first. I'm sort of glad everyone else seems to have a much bigger part this season, I'm not a big fan of Rick.
I kind of think Dale gets a lot of crap that perhaps isn't so deserved. Sure, he's nosy. But his heart is in the right place and that ought to count for something.
As I posted here before, contrary to the comics Shane is still here and became one of the most valuable characters in the show, so it would be kind of dumb to kill him off (well, right now, at least...). Plus, that story about a darabontonian actor who asked to leave the show...
Where is Dale getting his Shane "spidey senses" from? I just don't see how anyone can come to that type of conclusion without some kind of evidence. Shane's secret should die with Shane.
No spidey sense; he saw Shane put Rick in his gun sites last year and seriously consider murdering him; his best frind. Dale thinks if Rick isn't safe who is? So when Shane started being evasive with details...well
Agreed. Dale sees things no one else does because he actually looks. He is one of the very few characters on the series that does not see things from the "me, me, me perspective".
He may be poking his nose in everyone's business, but I truly have never seen it as being out for himself in anyway. Despite his going about things in the wrong way he has always been looking out for the group.
Shane is pretty much that friend everyone has that makes them do the wrong thing despite knowing it's the wrong thing to do.
He is a chaos factor that makes for great TV, but he deserves everything thrown his way.
One possible exception would be about being with Lori during Rick's coma. We all realize that sleeping with your best friend's wife is a no-no, but it is very, very common for people to fall into bed together when commiserating.
That said, Shane is a representation of the dark side of humanity on the series. Not necessarily bad or evil, but more base, more instinctual and more animalistic. He is the representation of the loss of humanity, while Rick is his opposite.
Rick has a wider perspective on issues while Shane sees them with laser-locked intensity.
Dale looks at everything going on in the group and sees that Shane would consider killing his best friend and then considers what else Shane would be capable of. It's not a big leap at that point really I agree.
Dale has a pretty good grip on reality and on who's not to be trusted completely.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
3 sneak peeks already and we have to wait more than 2 months for the actual episode to air...

ReplyDeleteby february we'll have already seen the whole episode XD
ReplyDeleteWho wants to bet that the "somebody else" will end up being Dale?
ReplyDeleteI agree. Dale can definitely be grating but he's also a reasonable guy who genuinely cares about the entire group.

A combination of intuition and wisdom I think.
