TORONTO -- Cinemax's cursed Transporter series isn't likely to resume production in Toronto anytime soon.
Filming on the 12-part action series based on the Luc Besson film franchise was suspended in mid-October due to an on-set injury sustained by star Chris Vance.
Now Transporter production manager Anna Beben on Thursday in an internal e-mail to talent and crew reports cameras are not likely to roll again before the end of the year.
“It appears that Chris' recovery is going to take a little longer than we had anticipated. Chris has not been cleared for work and will be reassessed in 3 weeks,” Beben's memo stated.
The word from the producers is the Prison Break star walks with a limp, leaving him unable to perform required action sequences.
Beben added the Transporter producers -- Canada’s QVF Inc. and French partner Atlantique Productions -- may prove reluctant to restart production for one episode, only to shut down again for Christmas.
Vance’s health is only the latest challenge to beset the production-plagued Transporter shoot.
The action series went through major creative changes when British director Steve Shill (Rome, Dexter) replaced the original Canadian showrunners Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.
Shill then did a cull of Transporter crew and creative in Toronto, making key replacements in a bid to get the production back on track and avoid cost-overruns.

LOL, they're saying the set and/or show is cursed?
ReplyDeletewow that really sucks.
ReplyDeleteThat is really to bad, hope he starts feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteYup,everything is cursed!
ReplyDeletemy guess is it will never make it on the screen
ReplyDeleteAt some point producers are going to have to realize that the star is the attraction and get the paid professionals to do the stunts. I read Tom Cruise wasn't thrilled to be climbing near the top of a skyscraper for the next installment of Mission Impossible.
ReplyDeleteBruce Lee. That guy was cursed.
ReplyDeleteYup,i hear what your saying, but in the last ten years or so more and more actors want to tackle as many stunts as they can.
ReplyDeleteYou must admit Seeing Tom Cruise outside that skyscraper doing his own stunt work was pretty impressive.Crazy yes,but impressive.
He really was.
ReplyDeleteYeah but they are getting really good at making the stunt people blend in. Except for Slash Fiction. There was a really bad spot near the end where Jensen Ackles' stunt double was painfully obvious.
ReplyDeleteWas that Stallone's stunt double that got killed?
Good question,i do not know?
ReplyDeleteMy cat walked onto the laptop and got the enter button, she happens to do that allot...Your right about the pro. stunt doubles they really do look like the actor, well most of the time, anyway.
ReplyDeleteTime to surround your keyboard with mirrors.
ReplyDeleteWill drive kitty bonkers.
LOL,but Frank,i have 9 kittys,i would need a room full of mirrors!.I think we are just about out of room here.
ReplyDeleteYikes.
ReplyDeleteWhile I love the Transporter movies(Jason Statham!!) everytime I hear about this show, I involuntarily think about the gawd-awful knight rider remake of 2008... praying to the cable gods this hot dude and his car make it : )
