TVLine has learned exclusively that Supernatural has tapped Canning to guest star as a lust interest for Jensen Ackles’ demon warrior.
She’ll play Lydia, a character executive producer Sera Gamble describes as “wry, independent, and as fun-loving as Dean.” Gamble adds that she and Dean “have a memorable evening that takes an unexpected turn.”
The original casting breakdown for Lydia took things a step further, describing their encounter as a “sizzling one-night stand.”
Canning will appear in Supernatural‘s 13th episode (slated to air in late January).

Ooh, yay! This sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteum 1 night stand so natural for dean some sexy scene grrrrrr he will be ok like always.
ReplyDeleteWell, two of the sexiest guys on tv, and they have went through six and a half seasons of Supernatural practically as pure as Trappist monks, with only the occasional love scene!
ReplyDeleteSeeing the amount of gore and grossness the writers throw at us, a little bit of healthy wholesome lovin' would be a nice change, even although I know it's never going to be that simple :-)
Yay, so both boys will find some loving in the second half.
ReplyDeleteSam in 7x11, and Dean in 7x13. It's about time XD
And there can never be enough sexy scenes.
I think she fits nicely in the show, even for one episode!
ReplyDeleteThe CW shows are the sharing type, that's for sure.Sebastian was in VD and now this, they seem to keep their actors close!
Not surprised in the slightest he'd go for her. I've been missing staring at her ever since she left VD.
ReplyDeleteUncle Jenna!!
ReplyDeleteThey'll make a gorgeous couple. Too bad she's only a one-night stand. (But of course, I'm still missing Lisa and Ben, so what do I know, right?)
ReplyDeleteI still miss Lisa and Ben, too!
ReplyDeleteForever 100% convinced that Ben is Dean's son, too.
Oh nice! I wonder how she will be involved in the case or not :)
ReplyDeletelove her!
ReplyDeleteyeah, people are circulating on Ringer, too.. Amber Benson (Lenore) was on last night, Misha's headed there after the hiatus, and Jason Dohring (from Veronica Mars), who's recurring on Ringer, will show up on SPN after the break.. so crazy!
ReplyDeletetotally with you on Ben.. he HAS to be Dean's
ReplyDeleteHope it's a good sign for Dean. That he's getting back to believing in the fight, having fun, lovable Dean -not that I don't adore him anyway;)
ReplyDeletePlus, it's gonna be nice to see Sara again;)
Right? And that speech he gave Dean about leaving his family - it's like how many proofs do we need?
ReplyDeletethis is the one with the cult right? Dean's ONS goes all cold on him and a cult of some kind is involved? The episode originally called knocked up?
ReplyDeleteDean returns to his man whore ways do I see some happy Dean fans on the horizon?
Ohh this sounds like Dean's arc of angst has come to an end, he got his mojo back thats a good sign.
ReplyDeleteAn 'unexpected turn'? Don't tell me - she gets eaten by a leviathan.
ReplyDeleteI like how they call her a 'lust interest' rather than 'love interest'. One of my favorite things about Supernatural is the almost non existent romantic storylines. If I wanted that I'd watch a soap. Great work Sera & Co.
Finally, Dean gets back to being Dean. Sizzling??? Man I hope it's not all in the talking and we get some of what we've seen with Sam
ReplyDeleteDean, I can remember two. Cassie on top. The Titanic scene in the back seat with Anna. Not much, but Sam??? Madison was okay but there were some flaming hot scenes with Ruby and the older woman in the restroom. I seem to remember just a slight scene with the hippie girl in Clap Your Hands.
ReplyDeleteOh and Sam's hooker who almost forgot the money. lol
ReplyDeleteI agree we are all excited for Dean but what is the unexpected turn? I am so curioux.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Jenna was the most beautiful woman on the show
ReplyDeleteTrying to stay positive about this; I am desperate for some female characters on this show. But, I doubt she's going to be anything but a "lust" interest for Dean, as the description so put it. Wry and independent sound like good traits, but if by wry and independent they mean smug and slutty, then no thanks. And i'm sure the twist will be that she's either evil or going to be killed.
ReplyDeletemaybe the unexpected turn is she is a hunter
ReplyDelete"You are Dean Winchester. This is what you do."
ReplyDeleteYeppers. No matter what Lisa's said in various episodes, it always seemed to me pretty obvious Dean's Ben's father.
ReplyDeleteSam also had a nice little moment with Dr.Cara in Sex and Violence and I must say that that and the Madison one were my favourites.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if we can count the casual sex Sam had as Robo-Sam, I wonder if he even remembers it all!
Ruby used sex to win Sam over to her plan , so there too, I don't know if we can count it.
No doubt about the fact that it was a hot scene although it didn't look all that joyful on his part, it was more desperation.
Then, of course, I presume Dean had a few good moments with Lisa too, even although his mind was on Sam's suffering.
However I still think that, all in all, for six and a half years it's not as if the boys have had much girl-time.
So bring it on, but I want equal opportunities here..Dean and Sam! :-)
I'm glad Aunt Jenna is still getting work.
ReplyDeleteSo this is the episodewith that cult of women using men and sex in their ceremonies....
ReplyDeleteHee! Looks like what Dean was "working up to" in 7.04 is going to be played out in 7.13. Dean's gonna get his groove back.
ReplyDeleteI liked Sara Canning as "Aunt Jenna" on TVD. Her death was the only time I actually honestly "teared up" rather than trying to keep my eyes from rolling out of my head at the show. (But I'm a fossil and far outside the young demographic).
Hah, finally, Dean gets some action. 'Bout time too, how long has it been? Like, a year? Or more? Tough. So good that he gets to have a little fun. I hope Sam does too!
ReplyDeleteYep! No matter how much Lisa denies it, I'm of the mind that Ben is definitely Dean's.
ReplyDeleteI loved that little pep talk. It was adorable...even if it means Dean is kind of out of practice.
ReplyDeleteAgreed tenfold. I loved Lisa, don't get me wrong, but I really love that Supernatural is not complicated by the love shapes (triangles, squares, octagons) that hurt almost every show on air. I am happy to hear that Dean may have a little fun in the episode. He needs it.
ReplyDeleteWell, there was alot of Dean scenes that we didn't actually get to see, but we still know he had sex. Like in "The Magnificent Seven" we could just see Dean in the window before he closed the curtains, and then we saw the shadow of him taking off a woman's clothes :P
ReplyDeleteAnd also there was the episode with Sarah in season 1, where Dean was hitting on some chicks in the bar, and the next day he was sleeping in the car, cause he hadn't gotten much sleep that night.. so I think we can guess what happened that night ;)
the guys having one night stands is like the characters going to the toilet for me- i assume they do it all the time obviously , but i don t have to see it on screen.what i like a lot about thisshow is that it is nt at all about sex or romance, i get some people want to see scenes like that becaus e they want to see them shirtless, but if they want to cater to that they could just not dress them in three layers all the time. it always feels forced and takes away screen time.also not liking this whole now we are back to writing dean as having a love interest thing in almost every episode, and sera wrting him now suddenly as stupid enough to fall for some succubus amazon , i t should have been some unsuspecting victim or some hunter like garth and the boys come to the rescue
ReplyDeleteI'm with you here because while I would like the boys to have a little more wholesome loving, that is having a night out with a girl now and then and even having dinner together as Sam with Sarah, I certainly don't want to see them in soap opera relationships as that is not what the show is about at all.
ReplyDeleteTwo young guys like them obviously wouldn't have any problem in finding company for the night so I would imagine that " off-screen" they have all that they need.
ReplyDeleteI, too, hope that they are not silly enough to fall into female-enticing traps. Sam and Becky is enough for now!
What I miss are the "Sarah moments" where they get to have an instant of a normal relationship with a girl who is not out for their blood and even although it only lasted an episode it remains memorable.
It would have been interesting for them to have had some female figure to relate to now and then even if only in a maternal way, because the boys' dynamic is completely different when relating to a woman.
Perhaps Sherriff Jodie can take on the burden, that is if they don' kill her offf too!
More often then not the sex was implied esp with Dean because he was quite um...the go getter. Sam's sex is less implied and more on screen because it is implied that that is the only times he actually has sex. RoboSam was a whole other story.
ReplyDeletewhich would make Dean a dead beat dad
ReplyDeletesome how I cant see Sam actually doing the deed what with Lucifer in his head all the time, how creepy would that be?!
ReplyDeleteNo, it wouldn't. Because Lisa lied to him and didn't tell him the truth. That doesn't make him a dead beat dad at all.
ReplyDeleteTrue. But he doesn't think Ben is his, I don't think. (Doesn't make abandoning them and erasing their memories any better, but whatever.) If he thought Ben was his I don't think he would have left so easily.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. I almost forgot about that... Hmm. That would be creepy! I can just imagine it now, him trying to enjoy himself and Lucifer would be standing right next to the bed (OR IN WITH HIM!!) making comments. Or making him see horrible things happening to the girl he was with. Entertaining as that would be...traumatizing for Sam though.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. If Lisa told him Ben was his, and Dean said, "Yeah, whatever" or refused to pay child support, he'd be a deadbeat dad. That's not how it happened, though; Dean asked repeatedly if the kid were his, and the kid's mother flat-out told him no, so he can't be held responsible for not supporting a child he's been assured isn't his.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, if Dean REALLY wanted to know for sure who Ben's father was, couldn't he have simply asked Castiel? If Cass knows all the names on the Book of Life, wouldn't he know the parentage of somebody so close to Michael's vessel? Or at least be able to find out quickly?
Not bas moving from TVD to SPN
ReplyDeleteWho is Canning? has she been in anything known?
ReplyDelete'Supernatural has tapped Canning to guest star as a lust interest'
ReplyDeletelol. Double entendre-y much?
Looks familiar and is kinda cute, but we'll see where they take it. I though she'd be prettier though...
