ReplyDeleteThe one and only thing FRINGE has going for it is its high DVR numbers. It's consistently one of the higher percentage added on for DVR numbers. It seems like the DVR numbers are started to make a bit of a difference to networks now, but I doubt it's enough as the only positive to save FRINGE for a Season 5.
ReplyDeleteThis Fringe situation is not Fox's fault at all. Even if we got episode 8 in....fans would still be leaving in the thousands. The fact is they said this would be Peters season and he has only been in 30 minutes out of 7 episodes...they have lied. As one of you guys said this show is starting to have the same feeling as Lost and that may be due to them being both a JJ Abrahams show. Both shows suffered from awful dialogue that is on the nose and felt forced and were just there so that they could avoid answering questions. Fringe has so much to answer and yet they have wasted 33% of their season on rubbish that has no bearing on the over arching mythology. Right now from the get go the show should have been going for broke and that means Peter should have been here all season long, this is frustrating. But I am not going to blame Fox at all, this is on the show...as you guys said if you put quality tv on people will watch. Shame, really shame. This is their last season and they are running their show into the ground, they should have more urgency and everything feels flat for some reason, I look forward to whatever Joshua Jackson is in next, because too be honest...I am not seeing the best of him here, they have wasted his talent and time and effort and they have run out of creative steam. What a failure, this is not on fox this is on them.
ReplyDeleteRe: Fringe - Yeah the hope is always on the DVR #s but it is still somehow not enough because people forward through commercials, so they need to do more about product placement and that can be a bit tough sometimes.
ReplyDeleteRe: TWD - I am still enjoying the show overall just feel it is lacking some of that "Excitement" from season 1 and I just assumed it would be because of the situation...now that they are at "safe" place it just feels like they are stagnant a little but you are right about the character development in general.
Re: POI - You are right about Finch not being in the field and as you hope for more back story on him I thought what a perfect opportunity for the writers to have them play off their chemistry with one another...oh well...can't wait for Terry O' Quinn or another former Lostie to make a cameo... :)
I hear what you are saying and I would put most of the blame on the writers definitely but FOX needed to know or the writers needed to let FOX know about how Episode 6 was not a strong epi for a mid season finale.
ReplyDeleteI know FOX is doing their best to keep it on the air and it ultimately is a numbers game, it is just frustrating in this situation where the network could and does control what they air that they chose not to air episode 7.
At the end of the day the show definitely needs more Peter and I still do not get where they were going with a couple of the episodes this season. There do seem to be some wasted moments, but at the same time the stuff that was not "wasted" was awesome. Two of this season's episodes are on the top of my favorite episodes list for the show so for me it has been a little up and down.
It seems similar to S3 of LOST when the writers had uncertainty in how long they had to end the show. So maybe after the hiatus the ratings pick up a bit and they can get some confirmation one way or another and write the final episodes accordingly.
It was a great chance to put Finch in the Field again and have him face off with his old Lost foe on the PoI episode called Foe. No doubt... It felt like the stars aligned! XD For whatever reason I never expected it, but now I wish it did happen!
ReplyDeletethanks for the show, guys! been listening for awhile and it's fun. :)
ReplyDeleteFinch in the Field is always a great idea. I hope Carter help Reese and Finch in the cases, after the episode 9, like Fusco.
ReplyDeleteThanks for listening and checking it out!
ReplyDeleteGot to have it! Got to see it! MUST HAVE! The Walking Dead
