  1. NBC do yourself a favour and pick this show up, its ratings are higher than almost everything on your network

  3. Uh ? I don't watch Rules of Engagement but the show is having its best ratings ever for the past few weeks. It doesn't make any sense, unless CBS's secret agenda is to turn one of their shows into a martyr :

1/ You shall have a first season of only 7 episodes.
2/ You shall have your 22-episode second season cut to 15 because of the Writer's Strike.
3/ You shall get a 3rd season mostly because CBS had no choice, the Strike screwing up many pilots.
4/ You shall come back only in March for a 13-episode third season, after a new sitcom failed at 8:30.
5/ You shall have a fourth season but still shortened (13 eps as well) and still a mid-season replacement.
6/ You shall see the light, finally, with a 24-episode fifth season pickup, but malfway through the season it got moved from Mondays to Thursdays to, once again, accomodate CBS which has no regard for RoE.
7/ You shall be renewed for a sixth season scheduled on Saturdays at 8:30, possibly the worst timeslot.
9/ You shall have hope the future is brighter when HTBAG gets cancelled, pushing the new season (beginning after everyone else, on October 20) on Thursdays, where it is finally met with great ratings.
10/ You shall still live on the edge after all, because after 6 seasons CBS still considers the show as a make-weight, with a last minute 5-episode cutback (from 18 to 13, but since CBS doesn't care about the show there were 2 leftovers from last season, so it's actually 15 episodes) because some has-been decided to write and star in a racist, lame sitcom (I predict it'll be Last Man Standing-lame).

It's like the 10 Plagues of Egypt (sort of, but I'm sure CBS would be capable of releasing locusts on the set of the show now), except it's on TV. It's like Rules of Engagement has always lived on artificial respiration and from times to times CBS enjoys to pull the plug out, and then plug it back in, and then plug it out again. RoE never had the stability a show like HIMYM has (each 22/24-episode season on Mondays at 8pm).

  4. I'm surprised, but "Rules" star Patrick Warburton -- who has made his opinions about CBS' handling of the show very vocal -- kinda predicted it in this recently-published TV Guide article:
    http://www.tvguide.com/News/Rules-Engagement-Manages-1039597.aspx

And if you'll check out the full item on Deadline, you'll see that the logic behind this decision is explained. So in the event that Rob Schneider's new comedy tanks (which I have a feeling it will) -- "Rules" might get a last-minute reprieve. I just hope CBS has the sense to bring it back for a seventh season.

  5. Thanks for the article. I hope ROE comes back for another season. They have screwed with this show too much and they are having one of their best seasons.

  6. Unbelievable, what are they going to replace it with?
It`s like this show has no value to them. Just when everyone starts watching and getting to know the characters finally they cut it again. This show if promoted right could have turned out to be a great profit puller for CBS but they must think they can find something better. They will probably come out with another reality show but what can we do?
I hope they come out with another David Spade show to replace it. How about Joe Dirt - The television series?
