Ratings Breakdown:
ABC ruled of the Monday overnights, finishing first in each of the six half-hours with its combination of Dancing With the Stars (13.0 rating/19 share from 8-10 p.m.) and a special edition of 20/20 with Diane Sawyer featuring the amazing Gabrielle Giffords (9.4/15). This was, no doubt, 20/20’s best performance of the season. Here is the half-hour breakdown for ABC last night:
Dancing With the Stars (ABC)
8:00 p.m.: 12.3/19 (#1)
8:30 p.m.: 13.1/19 (#1)
9:00 p.m.: 13.4/19 (#1)
9:30 p.m.: 13.2/19 (#1)
20/20 (ABC)
10:00 p.m.: 9.7/15 (#1)
10:30 p.m.: 8.8/15 (#1)
Note to Hope Solo: You are the weakest dancer of the four remaining contestants and it is time to leave like a good sport tonight.
Second-place CBS remains a force to reckon with from 8-10 p.m., with three of the four sitcoms (excluding Mike & Molly, which was flat) up from the year-ago evening. Take a look:
CBS/Monday
8:00 p.m. – How I Met Your Mother: 6.6/10 (#2) – up 10 percent
8:30 p.m. – 2 Broke Girls: 7.5/11 (#2) – up 47 percent from year-ago occupant Rules of Engagement
9:00 p.m. – Two and a Half Men: 9.5/14 (#2) – up 4 percent
9:30 p.m. – Mike & Molly: 7.8/11 (#2) – no change
Sophomore Hawaii Five-O finished second at 10 p.m., with a comfortable 7.5/12 in the overnights. Compared to one year earlier (6.9/11 on 11/16/10), that was up by nine percent. As always, CBS remains the network to beat among adults 18-49.
Third overall for the evening was Fox with its line-up of Terra Nova and House, each with a 4.8/ 7 in the overnights. Given the 31 percent erosion for House versus one year earlier (7.0/10 on 11/16/10 at 8 p.m.), it is time for Hugh Laurie to call it quits.
Next was NBC, which was barely on the map care of competition The Sing Off (#4: 2.7/ 4 from 8-10 p.m.) and episode three of minimally seen Rock Center with Brian Williams (#3: 2.9/ 5), which moves into the Wednesday 9 p.m. hour out of new comedy Are You There, Chelsea? effective on February 8. Here is the half-hour breakdown for The Sing Off:
The Sing Off (NBC)
8:00 p.m.: 3.0/ 5 (#4)
8:30 p.m.: 2.8/ 4 (#4)
9:00 p.m.: 2.6/ 4 (#4)
9:30 p.m.: 2.6/ 4 (#4)
The CW capped off the evening with its low-rated combination of Gossip Girl (#5: 1.2/ 2 at 8 p.m.), which the network needs to seriously retire, and recent entry Hart of Dixie (#5: 1.4/ 2 at 9 p.m.). While any growth from the lead-in is a positive, one year earlier former 9 p.m. time period occupant Gossip Girl was stronger with a 1.6/ 2 on 11/16/10.

Those weekly sendoffs for House are hilarious. Jinxety jinx.
ReplyDeletewow House 31% down from last year. That´s a lot
ReplyDeletelol, love how this dude keeps telling House to go die
ReplyDeleteHouse's S8 its much better than S7 LOL what happened people ? LOL I haven't seen S7 but those 5 ep of S8 rock LOL .... 31% I think is a huge number ..Hugh Laurie said this from the begging ..IT's over ..
ReplyDeleteI guess Shore and company successfully killed off their show last year for much of the audience. Too bad they can't get the word out that House is actually watchable, enjoyable, and fun again. Not as great as it once was, but certainly not as terrible as the last two seasons. Fox isn't doing it any favors with the limited promos they show. Mostly we see promos for Terra Nova, and then tacked on at the end... oh by the way, House is on too.
ReplyDeleteYou can´t compare the House ratings from last year to the new ones. Different timeslot, more intense competition (we are talking here of the most watched shows of the the week and terra nova is a bad lead-in.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally if i saw it right, all Fox shows are down this year in a big way.
Please, Could you stop writing your unprofessional, obligatory H- sentence of the week!
It's just viewers of House in a one country. In the world are soo many fans of the show. But yeah...it's not chanes that I'm suprised.
ReplyDeleteSorry...my bad english ;p
The only fact here is that it´s down and a lot and everyone and their mother know 9pm slot is better than 8pm since much more people are watching tv at 9. Competition is not an excuse. Last year they were against Dancing with the Stars too and HIMYM which isn´t doing much less than 2 1/2 men. And last year House didn´t even have a lead in. This year they have one. Not the strongest one but it´s better than nothing.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm sure the 3 million viewers House has steadily lost since the premiere just haven't gotten "the word"...
ReplyDeleteExactly. it seems it's going to be a season long funeral
ReplyDeleteVery sad news for House but with last season finale they deserve it, poor storylines which started in season 5
ReplyDeletegood for HIMYM :) it wasn't everything I hoped it would be, but I'm glad to see it's still doing well!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteEveryone and their mother knows:When the people start watching Dancing they won`t change the channel in the second half to watch whatever show. :)
ReplyDeleteFurthermore i could assume HIMYM has better ratings now b/c it hasn`t to compete with House anymore.
21/2 men is a ratings-giant allways was and still is. The 9o`clock timeslot is difficult. People still care for House if you have a look on the DVR numbers but they don`t watch it live. That`s unfortunate.
Compare the ratings and viewer numbers of the other Fox shows and suddenly you will see that House doesn`t look so bad. Fox has problems to keep its audience.
CBS' Monday night lineup is just fierce. I can't imagine what the other networks would have to do to beat that.
ReplyDeleteExcept like no one actually DVRs that mess of a show

Whatever have to tell yourself...
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou posted DVRnumbers of the week where no House episode was aired due to sport ;)
ReplyDeleteLast week’s #HOUSE gained +43% over their respective L+SD numbers w/ 3 days of DVR playback 2.8 > 4.0
@Foxresearch
Great numbers for HIMYM, 2 Broke Girls, TAHM, Mike & Molly e Havaii Five-0
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, last published DVR numbers were this week (Oct 17-23, 2011) ,

your list is from Oct 24-30, 2011 NO House episode
Monday appears to be a POOR night for the CW Network - Let's just hope the ratings improve for the wedding/100th episode. I still think it will get a final 12 ep season 6 though
ReplyDeleteThe show i'm referring to is Gossip girl, forgot to put that in :-/
ReplyDeleteMy mistake, though the live+7 numbers don't warrant a stay of execution. It's stilling doing terrible.
ReplyDeleteThat is true!! But all fox shows don`t do well. It looks like how ridiculus it sounds House is still Foxs number1 drama.
ReplyDeleteGossip Girl is the show that should be on Friday's night instead Supernatural, it's a dead cow, I'm pretty sure that supernatural would get at least 2 million viewers on mondays.
ReplyDeleteHouse is not looking good. I think they need to have this one be the last season, to suck up all the possible ratings out of it before it plummets. Terra Nova isn't doing very well at all either.
ReplyDeleteI think you CAN compare the ratings because even from year to year, this is a big drop. It would be fine if the show was still hanging in there at 3.0, but FOX in the past depended on House for its ratings.
ReplyDeleteBut you are right, in that Terra Nova is a bad lead-in.
I really think they underestimated Lisa Edelstein and her value to the show. I'm glad she made it out unscathed. This season is so unsuccessful because the medical cases are all so familiar , but the character development , well lets just say , there isn't any character development. Other than Taub , everyone is just the same.
ReplyDeletepoor gossip girl :(
ReplyDeletesorry im bad with this ratings stuff but how are terra novas ratings? enough to get a second season or probably not?
ReplyDeleteOh please. Huddy is the reason so many viewers left the show.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem with that thought is that last season the viewers stuck around all year. It's only this season that everyone has abandoned ship!

i'm so happy for H50! one of the best tv shows today
ReplyDeleteOh well, Gossip Girl's slow death. This is the last season for real.
