  7. same five.  SPN, Fringe, Grimm, Nikita, and Chuck.  Very bummed that the start of the holiday season means long breaks from my fav shows.  seems like the season just got started.

  12. I will collect the new episodes of Boss, Fringe, Grimm and Nikita on my... DVR, and also the new Supernatural (but this one I won't see in the upcoming weeks). I will watch Chuck this weekend, I hope this season will become good fairly quickly, I'm quite disappointed by the first two episodes...

But tonight, I'll be watching the football game between France & United States. That will only be the third game between the two countries (once in New York in February 1979, the other time at the Parc des Princes in October 1979). There are no stakes in this game, and Laurent Blanc brought in newcomers (I hope Olivier Giroud will make a great impression and stick around in the group), it should be fun to watch, hopefully we'll preserve our 15-game invinsibility (10 wins, 5 draws, 0 loss ; 24 goals for, 6 goals against).

Hard to believe this game, the one against Belgium on Tuesday and the game against Germany on February 29 are the last friendly games we can have before the 2-3 friendly games in late May preparing for the 2012 Euro in early June. There should be another international break, in mid-April or so (even if it would be breaking the last lap of several national/european competitions, a time were players are much needed, not sure the clubs would like it). I'm sure lots of people here agree with me.

  13. Supernatural.
When does SPN go on winter hiatus, btw? Dec. 2nd, or did I make that date up?

  14. Voted Supernatural and Fringe.  Unfortunately both will have to wait until Sunday since I will be out of town.  Bah!

  15. Just Fringe tonight, after my husband and I watch episode 7 of The Wire's final season.

  16. You've gotten me interested in this game (we call it soccer) but it seems it's not being televised in my area. I will read about in tomorrow's paper, I promise.

  17. Supernatural, Fringe, Nikita, Chuck and Grimm if it was on at a different time. A pox on the guy at NBC that decided it was a good idea to put it up against 2 of my favorite shows. lol

  18. Fringe live! and then over and over again, all weekend long :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. "Fringe live" is your favorite phrase isn't it! :-)

Well at least your heart is in the right place. ;)

  21. "Oh, you don't know anything about me." Fauxlivia to Walternate in 3.20 6:02 AM EST

    I live, breathe, eat Fringe.
Among other phrases, yes. I know most people say it doesn't count. Doesn't matter. I also know that people hate commercials, doesn't matter. There is something about watching the show live for the first time. When I watch it taped then I fast forward through them. But maybe paying attention to the commercials can help. I've contacted a few and thanked them for their support of the show. Today I'm going to DQ, wearing my Fringe t-shirt and letting them know that I saw their commercial during the show.

    Fringe Rocks!

  22. Apparently the game is televised on ESPN2 : http://www.espnmediazone3.com/us/programming/espn2-livesame-day-tape-event-schedule/, but they do say on the website that live events may not be seen in some areas.

I don't know many US soccer players except Donovan (who chose not to make the trip because of the playoffs with Los Angeles in a few days) and Bocanegra, who will be here and face his former Rennes teammate M'Vila, one of the most consistent french players, he played in 15 out of 17 games since Blanc is the head coach. M'Vila doesn't play in a big european club (Rennes is barely a contender for the top 5 in the french league) and yet he often is one of the best players on the field at the international level, and he's only 21). It should be a very interesting game, since the word is a few players often in the group as substitutes will start the game this time (Menez, Gameiro, Koscielny, Martin).

Anyway, enjoy the final episodes of The Wire. I remember episode 5.07 was very good but the last 3 episodes are nothing short of a masterpiece.

  26. Supernatural and Chuck!  Then I have to catch up on what I missed last night.. Thursdays are busy TV nights!

  27. International Soccer is on in about half an hour (2:00 p.m.) and I'm recording it. I will be referring to your guide as I watch.

The Wire astounds me. It's showing politics at all levels--from the streets, to a police office. and up to the Mayor's office. I truly believe it's a correct view.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I know. I just want to make sure :)
Sorry, no can do on chatting. Way too busy to watch. I write for another fan site and need to start taking notes the second time around.
That's how I watch too, with antenna :)

  39. Well, it was a good game overall, the first half was a little boring but the second half was great. Nice goal from Loic Remy after a brilliant lobed pass from Marvin Martin, they both entered around 60' and they confirmed they're more than substitutes. But the US gave us a hard time, you defended really well, whenever we attacked the defenders came back really quickly towards their goal to outnumber us and stop us from developing our game. Our keeper, Hugo Lloris, had to be concentrated for there were a few hot situations, we were never really in danger but I was afraid we wouldn't find a way to outnumber you in the last 25 meters/82 feet, breach your defense and that the game would end with a draw, 0-0.

I was praising M'Vila in my previous comment and it turns out it was probably his worst game, he didn't weigh much in the middle, he was clearly tired. Altidore made a good impression, he was the best american player on the field in my opinion, Debuchy and Rami had a lot of work containing him, which they did well most of the time, I don't think Lloris had any saves to do tonight, no real dangerous shots towards his goal.

Benzema didn't score this time but he had occasions, like when he headed the ball on the transversal bar or and a few minutes later when he shot a beautiful free kick almost entering the goal, Howard was entirely in his goal except for his hands stopping the ball, it was a matter of a few centimeters. Menez did a great game, he's got a nice touch and he was as always difficult to mark, plus he often came back in defense to help and launch counterattacks, he really improved on that, a few months ago he didn't necessarily do that, saving his energy for his dribbles and fast rushes.

Regarding The Wire, it is indeed impressive, it's complex and yet the writers handle all these points of view perfectly. Before being writers, David Simon was a journalist and Ed Burns was a cop, their views are probably extremely realistic, especially since HBO supprted them all along and gave them carte blanche despite the very low ratings (same for Treme nowadays).

Can i plead temporary insanity? I cannot find your question,"what do i mean".....My answer came out the wrong way,and since i could not edit it well, obviously there it shall remain. Before i stick my foot in my mouth once more,i plead the fifth, and bid you good night

  45. Thanks, it actually cut off what's on the left and right of Watch Live!!
One side says: Peter Bishop is back, the other: Observers are here. The front of my car has "Real is just a matter of perception" and on the little side windows it says Olivia on one and Walter on the other. And I play a cd in the car all the time with the sound tracks and Violet Sedan Chair album on it.

  46. I never miss Supernatural.  I really only have a few shows I watch.  It's top of the list and always has been, except for a battle with Moonlight.
