  1. I loved it!

ANDREA, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? You think the fact that everyone was near Darryl and not shooting him WOULD HAVE BEEN A BIG FUCKING CLUE THAT HE WASN'T A ZOMBIE, YOU MORON.

Also, WTF at the zombies in the barn.

    Can't wait for next week!

  3. Glenn, it's a well-known fact that when women spend a lot of time together, their cycles line up and they all go hormonal. HAHAHAHA. Wait, maybe that's what was going on with Andrea.

So Merle and Daryl had some sibling rivalry. At least Merle's spirit got Daryl up the cliff.

Shane, shut up. Daryl found Sophia's doll, so keep looking. Why is everyone in such a rush to get to Fort Benning or wherever it is they're going?  But first, do something about Zombie Barn.

Awesome episode. Can't wait until next week.

  4. Ditto Ditto Ditto for me! I wanted to bitchslap Andrea. I thought she got off a lucky shot and killed Darryl.

I really like Darryl, he has a great heart. And Meryl's spirit gave him a much needed kick in the rear to get him moving. Meryl may not be dead though and Darryl's mind just created what he needed to save himself.

  5. Yeah when Andrea shot Darryl I got 3 text messages from friends all saying WTF lol. Good thing she didn't kill him! Fans would want her head!

Awesome episode! The family keeping the walkers in the barn are all crazy it seems! Lot's happening, but still NO Sophia!

  6. Guessed right that from the promo that Andrea would takea shot at what she thought would be a walker and it'd be Darryl. Good thing her sniping skill was just a bit off, but she should've known better when all the others were not attacking... and heck she could've hit one of the others. She needs to get of her need to be a badass kick soon. AS for the barn, I knew about that from reading the comics, but can't recall what the reason/outcome as it's been so long since I did but you can never guess how the writers might diverge from the source material. Really enjoyed the Darryl sequence where we got some backgorund on him and his internal struggles.

  7. Loved the cinematography of Daryl falling down the cliff! Great camera shot or great creative camera rig they rolled down the hill!

I liked Daryl's Obi-Wan hallucinations! His big brother giving him the strength to go on even if it's by annoying him into action! XD

I swear as Daryl was tightening the zombie's shirt around his waist I envisioned Rambo tightening the headband around his head! XD "You drew first blood zombies! You drew first blood!"

Nice to see Merle was an asshole to everyone and not just a racist ass to T-Dog!

Andrea is such a moron (not to mention a bitch). She needs to lose her gun rights over that dumb ass rookie move. For that matter she should never have been given gun rights at all.

Dale continues to make me laugh. One of the few that manages to keep a level head in all of this.

Ha! I loved Glenn at the "kiddie table" with the other young'uns! XD

Wonder if Hershel is working on some vaccine... or if they were just other farm workers and he did not have the heart to kill them after they were turned....

A lot fo fun Daryl moments but this did not move the plot along as much as some other episodes this year. It just did not have the intensity of most of this season so far. The end scene reveal kept it at "great" for me but just barely.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ha, I thought exactly the same thing at the dinner scene. Looked like a kids table with Glenn, Maggie, that Jimmy kid and Hershel's other daughter. And then they started passing notes around, pretty funny.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Although it featured a lot of Daryl who is my favourite character, it was just OK for me this time. There wasn't a lot of intense drama, not a lot of action, it was rather a setup episode for things to come.

It showed imo that Shane will be the bad guy this season and they are heading towards a big confrontation between him and Rick. If I had to guess now, I'd say Shane will die by the end of this season. Either they kill him off they way he died in the comics (which would be cool) or they give him some heroic death to redeem himself.

Glenn was quite funny again. Apart from the dinner scene at the "kids table" also his theory about the synchronized menstrual cycles. Yeah, better not tell that to any of the women...
And especially not Andrea who continues to annoy me. It's just so dumb to fire a shot when it's only one walker that you can easily get rid of silently when it's common knowledge that loud noise attracts walkers. Stupid...

I knew what was coming when I saw Glenn's note and Maggie's facial expression. Although that are a lot more zombies than I expected.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Were the barn zombies in the comics? I assume they were.... Maybe Hershel's kids that he told Rick he "lost". I forget how many kids he lost, but that was like a dozen zombies in the barn!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ah ok.. I just wondered if the barn zombies were in the comics... I should have read your post earlier! XD

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh Andrea - now you know why everyone wants to take your gun ... it's because you're stupid.

A little disappointed that Merle was just a hallucination.  I think he must have been a motivational speaker in his former life.

Everyweek, there's always a scene that makes me jump up and scream "FUCK" at my TV - this week it was that zombie trying to take off Daryl's shoe.  I had a feeling he'd be there but I didn't realize how close to getting bitten Daryl would be.  But worry as I might, Daryl still kicked it's undead ass and made it's ears into a necklace.

I loved after they come up to Daryl and he's all like "You gonna pull the trigger or what?" and then Andrea grazes him and then he's all "I was just joking."  He's all awesomeness.

Sophia's mom - you annoyed me less this week but I still don't remember your name.

Sophia - OMG.  WTF.  BBQ.  Where in the hell are you?

Ha - the kiddie table - the perfect place for passing notes behind your parents back!

Shane - you're still a tool.  I know theres this argument about how you have to make the hard decisions and in a zombie apocolypse anything goes but here's the thing ... what is the point of trying to keep going, keep moving, keep living, keep these people together to try and preserve the human race if you're going to give up your humanity?

The kid who plays Carl must be really bored by now.

A barn full of walkers ... WTF are you saving them for?  That's just dumb.  And I am more than a little fed up with Herschel's superiority complex.  You do realize there are some half crazed survivors out there who would have rolled up, home invaded your ass, threw you in the barn and eaten that dinner without your blessing or sanctimonious doom cloud hanging over them.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Kind of. I don't want to give too much away, but you're on the right path with your theory.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I don't want to give too much of (possible) plots away (and not everything from the comics doesn't necessarily come true on the TV show or is adapted the same way), but maybe Hershel is waiting for a cure to be found and that those barn zombies can be healed and go back to normal when the time has come.

  15. I love knowing whats in the comics vs what they show on TV - but I have never read the comics so this is a very interesting point.  Doesn't look from the previews like he gets to keep his pets long ...

    ReplyDelete
  16. Great episode. Loved that Andrea shot Darryl. That girl is so troubled, it just keeps getting better.

Darryl was awesome (like always) and I loved Merle being back. Though I had hope he was real.

Glen is soooo funny.  More of him - please!

Not liking Shane at all. Never really did, but by now, he is just annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  17. haha :D
"Sophia's mom - you annoyed me less this week but I still don't remember your name."

Exactly. I still don't know her name either :D

    ReplyDelete
  18. Andrea, you're such a jerk. And I better don't start with Shane!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. "I don't wanna give too much away"

I wish you'd thought that before telling us that Shane dies :-(

    ReplyDelete
  20. Steven Yeun used to do improv at Second City. Funny guy. I'd love for him to guest host on SNL.

  21. Most awkward dinner ever!

Loved the Daryl and Merle sequences.  And Daryl's close encounter with the walkers.

Andrea is getting on my tits.  She's done nothing so far this season (or last season come to think of it).  Shooting Daryl was the last staw for me.  If I was trying to survive a zombie apocalypse I would not have her in my group.  Feed her to the barn walkers, please.

P.S.  I know the TV series isn't exactly the same as the comics but too many people are discussing the comics and revealing potentially massive spoilers.  It's not fair.  If you want to discuss the comics, go here: http://www.comicvine.com/the-walking-dead/49-18166/forums/

  22. I thought that's pretty much common knowledge that Shane dies really early in the comics. Kirkman adresses this all the time. And Shane already lived a lot longer on the show than he did in the comics, Otis died a lot sooner even though he lived much longer in the comics. They change a lot, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's bound to happen, just like with other series that are based on (comic) books. And to be fair, they change so much (like shane died already in the comic books) it's very possible things might not happen like they did in the comics.

  24. Am I the only one that loved the opening sequence at the jammed road? Atlanta being bombarded with napalm :o
Nobody has mentioned it but that was very dramatic and reminded me of how great flashbacks can be if explored with intent.

That scene made me see Lori in a slightly better way. I could never understand how you lose your husband and after a couple of weeks you're already in the woods hiding from your son just to score with another man.

But now I got another perspective, that right from the first days of the zombie apocalypse people saw terrible things beyond the zombies themselves: they witnessed the brutal and blind reaction of the authorities. Losing your hope that way, like someone rapes your faith in anything, almost forces you to reach out and accept anyone who represents some level of security... in a very animal way ;)

  25. I could talk about a lot of stuff in this episode but I only want to touch on one thing:

The editing job that was done on the Daryl / Merle scene by the water.  It was terrible.

One second, Daryl has a bunch of dirt and debris around his mouth and chin, the next second he doesn't.  One second, he has the right side of his face covered in diluted blood, the next second he doesn't.  It kept switching back and forth like that for the entire scene and I was completely unable to concentrate on what was going on.

  26. The thing that bothers me most about Andrea is that she's so damned different from the comic version.  This TV show is destroying what was originally a great character.

    ReplyDelete
  27. No you are not the only one - that was a great scene!!

You get kind of immersed in a very rural setting at the Herschel Farm and the universe starts to seem encapsulated in these tiny settings.

That scene was a very powerful reminder of how bad it really is and how wide spread the virus has gone.

All of my grousing about Herschel's superioroty complex ... that was what HE needed to see.  He's been exposed to a couple of dozen walkers at his place.  One here and there - he can have all of the faith in the world but the numbers are against him and he doesn't seem to realize it.

Does he get it?  Is he in denial?  Is is just burying his head in the sand until it blows over?  I would love to see his reaction to such large scale destruction and how it would alter his views on whether or not to let Rick & Co stay on at the farm.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Continuity is a bitch ... didn't distract me but I did see that makeup was very inconsistent.  I can't even begin to imagine how many times they had to shoot that scene - it's gotta be a pain in the ass trying to get the dirt smudges the same every time.

I block it out by focusing on Daryl's biceps :)

  29. Ok, so I think this was my favorite episode of the season so far. First off, Daryl is easily the best character on this show. He's such a BAMF too, for conquering that hill. I didn't hate Andrea at all because her actions were reasonable, because she was the one having a close call every episode for the first few hours of this season, but her getting trigger happy was the most annoying as **** thing I've ever seen. I wanted to just reach through my television and choke her!

Daryl and The shorter haired lady have a nice dynamic. She was so sweet to him, and she knows how he feels around them, and wants him to know that he really is more of a good man than he believes, and his actions have been nothing but noble. I hope he doesn't meet a tragic end too early in this show, because Rick's not doing it for me, and while Shane is a good character and has his reasons, he pisses me off just enough that he can't be a favorite character.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ha!  I'm glad you found a way to ignore the editing.  Unfortunately, that method isn't equally as effective for everyone.  ;)

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's not too late to see the change happening to Andrea, and it's probably a question of how many cool guys / annoying guys the group has.

I guess they're just playing group dynamics so there's always something new to tangle things up. What I mean is, you can't have a group where everybody is a hero and they all are nice and fair. Daryl started as "the younger brother of a sexist, racist SOB" and evolving to someone with feelings and a deep tortured soul (character still undergoing development) and now we're loving to hate Shane. Maybe Andrea is on the backburner until Lori reveals herself as a cheating wife, carrying another man's baby - then Andrea will start blooming as a nicer character and Lori's becames the new hatred of the show.

If they were all ok, this wouldn't be about humankind, it would be about the zombies and gore scenes from first to last minute of every episode.

  32. Yes, things can be very different (I'm not talking specifically about TWD as I haven't read the comics). For instance: one of the best characters (along with actor himself - IMHO) doesn't even exist in the comics. I read here several times that Daryl is a new one, and Kirkman is so in love with this character that he is considering to introduce it in the comics.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If the highway where the group lost Sophia is like 1 or 2 km from the farm, I'm sure it is a question of time until one of those herds of zombies "turn left on the next exit" and just stomp the place!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Bad bad Bruce!  :)

I was so into that scene that didn't notice any of those details, but after reading your comment I went back (I always press the REC button while watching live the show so I can watch it again after visiting SpoilerTV and reading these precious details, like the ones you've mentioned - old habits die hard, as I am a LOST fanatic)... and now I cannot but notice how you are right! Awgh! I'll never watch that scene with the same eyes again.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I agree with you that Rick is somewhat away from being the centrepoint since episode 2, and Shane has crossed that line where he cannot return to a more sympathetic position. Daryl has been the action man and the most interesting in terms of character development.

But Carol (and T-Dog, for that matter) is a non-existing character, she just stands there.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I totally didn't know her name either!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would be more patient with Andrea if she showed a little more character progression but other characters like Daryl, as you mentioned, seem to be evolving much faster than she is.  It's frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sorry 'bout that, Paolo.  I didn't mean to sap anyone else's enjoyment.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I can relate to that. I feel the same about Rick (he is too soft a main character, if you know what I mean...).

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nah!... You're welcome :)

I like being drawn to aspects that I had failed to see. I do value those who, despite being fans, still have the spirit to criticise when they feel they have to.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Why does a female character have to become the most hated of the show?  I hate Shane more than anyone else right now.  Despite the fact Andrea almost killed Daryl, who happens to be my favorite TV series character.  (Andrea's tied with Michonne in the comics.)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I was saying that they ALL have the chance to become the most hated. It's kind of taking turns because every time someone previously hated/disliked becomes more popular (i.e. Daryl)  another one more popular becomes a hated/disliked figure (i.e. Shane).

Then I went to mention Lori because - and I think this is obvious - sooner or later she is going to see her image affected by the Shane affair and pregnancy. Lori has the potential to become - at least temporarly - one of the hated ones. That, in turn, could be the timming for Andrea evolve into a more likeable character.

I hope I have cleared that I am no sexist trying to wish harm to female characters.

But now I must ask you: why couldn't there be a hated female charater, even the most hated of the show? Is there any sexist law declaring that the hated ones must always be male? Must I remind you that even "The 101 Dalmatians" had the most despicable character in a woman?

As for Andrea and Michonne(?) in the comics, I really don't know, haven't read them yet but I'm considering to start buying the oldest ones (I know there are albums gathering several issues of the comics) so maybe I'll prevent myself from beeing too spoiled :)
