  1. I loved it so much! Everything about it was great.

And where the fuck is Metallicar? BRING THE FUCKING CAR BACK.

  2. Good choice!  Still think Sam should have...you know...for Becky saving his life.

    ReplyDelete
  3. ^^; I,m a bit disapointed...not cause it was Becky, but because people said it was going to be a really funny episode...some fun part here and there...but nothing like Yellow Fever..french mistake..or anything like that

But anyway, the jersey Devil will be awesome next week :D

  4. Well... so NOT a fan of this one. The last 10 minutes were good. The first 35 or so.. dumb as frigging hell. Heck, even the last 10 stunk except for Crowley. What the hell is up with Sera and this sudden need for Dean and Sam to no longer need each other as brothers? Sam doesn't need him anymore?

Sorry, this episode did nothing for me, except make me slightly nauseous.

    4 out of 10

  5. Definitely liked the Becky angle and the collective scream from all the ladies watching the episode.  Had a Misery flashback with the bed scene and loved Crowley dealing with his renegade employee.

    Seemed like back to basics.

  6. I don't think I'll ever watch it again. Worst episode of s7 so far.

  7. I think she's suppose to come back around episode 10 :)

wow that was a terrible episode for the most part the last one they had like that was season 4's monster movie episode. This was terrible and i think they totally ruined weddings for me on the show. I am never usually dissapointed that much in an episode but this sucked! Up unto the part with crowley was terribel (dean's sidekick was good but didnt have a whole lot) and the crowly thing was cool and was a good answer to the question i had all season: where is all the demons? They've been the major pain in the butt for the last 3 seasons and then this seasons there were barely any. But it does make sense Crowley is holding them back. And its funny how everything the demons hope to be their leader or allies always betray them Lucifer, Crowley (season 5), and now the leviathans all owe the demons for their release and power but in the end they (except for Crowley) want demons dead. This wedding thing sucked and was only good at bringing Crowley back for a small appearance. Next week’s looks a little better but I really hope they don’t waste an episode like this again. I honestly after tonight have been a huge fan of the show but after watching this season I can tell the show might not get past 8 (hopefully they at least get to that). The leviathans are like the ori on stargate sg-1 they lasted 2 seasons and ended in a movie. Only I hope supernatural were to get a movie lol. I rate this episode an ok only because of Crowley.

  9. I thought the same thing.  They ditched it so the cops wouldn't find them. Doesn't seem like that's the case anymore.

Maybe Dean's still figuring on getting those nicer rims!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Ok, WHAT THE HELL?! I've got to say, Dabb and Loflin should never be allowed to write an episode again.
Was that supposed to be funny? Because I found it mostly excruciating.
Ok, I get the point they were trying to make and the case was actually clever but was it really necessary to bring back arguably the single most obnoxious character in the history of the show? I mean, it was cute the first time...stretching it the second...but this was overkill. How many times can they skewer the fan base before it becomes old?
The humor was stretched, the secondary characters were terrible.
Crowley's appearance at the end was the one saving grace. You knew he was going to eventually show up and make a deal with the guys and as always Mark Sheppard knocked it out of the park, but that wasn't enough to save the whole thing.
The last scene had its moments too but I'm not liking this vibe from Sera Gamble, it's like she's trying to keep the brothers apart. Doesn't she get that their bond is what makes the friggin' show work?!
I like that they're both growing up and beginning to adjust their respective roles but I just hope they can come to the realization that they can be their own people and still look out for each other. They don't NEED a friggin' wedge driven between them so stop trying to do it already!
Ugh...a major regression from last week...about 5 out of 10 on this one.

  11. Meh, I'm kinda still processing it. I'll have to watch it again but so far I'm disappointed after all the buildup. The middle bit was dull, but I really liked Garth and Crowley.

yea if u read mine to at top i cant believe all the hype for this episode and they totally ruined it. I was so bored for the first 30 mins and disgusted by the way they did this i was on my laptop while watching at times. Then i saw crowley on and i watched the rest of the episode. SERA IF UR READING THIS, TERRIBLE EPISODE! U have done so good with the last 2 seasons but this really was not good.

  13. Next week does look good and it better be to redeem themselves for this debacle.... God .....

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm encouraged  because it's a Ben Edlund episode...looks very Wendigoish...and because I've been jonesing for the boys to take on the Jersey Devil since season one.  They better not screw this up!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Was Garth the little guy played by DJ Qualls?  If so, I thought he sucked.  I usually like DJ Qualls and maybe my perceptionw was being ruined by the presence of Becky...she kind of zaps the enjoyment out of everything around her...but I got nothing out of him.

    ReplyDelete
  16. or its just too early, they almost got reconized by that lady at the beginning of last episode. Its weird that the police didn't reconized them...guess they're just being careful

    ReplyDelete
  17. I really enjoyed this episode.  I really thought it was great with Becky being the bride.  I knew she was using a spell of some sort.  Didn't see the cross-roads demon coming.  Loved seeing Crowley.  I didn't pay attention to the credits, so I didn't realize he would be in it.  I loved how Sam was all sappy when he was drugged, but when he was his normal self, well he had to be tied up.  I am glad that Becky decided to tell Sam the truth and help Sam and Dean defeat the demon.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Bored...I was literally cringing.  As soon as I realized the bride was Becky I wanted to puke!  It was literally painful to watch until Crowley showed up.   Oh and I know it's a minor quibble but...what the hell was with Dean and the sweater?!   Dean does NOT wear friggin' sweaters...even in disguise!  GEEZE! :p

    ReplyDelete
  19. Okay everyone take a chill pill...............the episode was funny and at least the brothers are talking like adults. The only thing troubling was Deans face at the end but I recognize that look. It is the look of "wow he really has grown up" Dean was experiencing sort of an empty nest syndrome of sorts. Let's not forget fans that Dean has been holding Sammy since Sammy was what ...6 months old. He is more daddy than brother..........in any event the episode was a great.............because any episode that ends with my boys talking and smiling and getting into the same car is an AWESOME episode.. the previews for next week look great............it is like old time SPN ..................thank goodness.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I loved this episode! Becky! Crowley! Demon stuff! DJ Qualls! AWESOMENESS

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah, that was him. And I agree on the Becky thing, the episode would have been a lot better without her.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I didn't love it, although it wasn't that bad.  Becky was annoying, the writing was pretty awful, and the plot wasn't all that interesting.  The thing that made it better was Jensen and Jared's acting.  They're always the thing that saves poorly written episodes like this one.  It might've been my least favorite episode so far this season, but it's still Supernatural so I can't hate it.  :D

    ReplyDelete
  23. It was an excellent episode. One of the best of the season. The brothers relationship is finally getting back on track.

It looks to me like the "hardcore" fangirls are mad because the Becky character is an obvious diss at them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. No chill pill needed.   There was nothing funny about that episode...it was just dumb.  Yes, I realize that Dean was coming to the realization that he doesn't need to hold on anymore.  Like I said, that's a good thing, but I don't want him to let go entirely.  They still need to count on each other, and I think they'll realize that.   That part doesn't really bother me that much.  But I refuse to give this episode credit for humor...it was flat out stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You don't have to drag the whole serie with only 1 episode^^; All season have bad episodes, Season 6 had a lot and it didn't stop to have some really great episode in season 7 and we can have many more great ones coming up for the rest of the season and next year.

Season 1 had awful like, like Route 666 and Bug...and we're still here doing season 7

    ReplyDelete
  26. That's the saving grace...every season has had at least one dud.  I think this season has already had its quotient so the rest of it better really be awesome! :D

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hey Deangirl...........the show had humor ............Sams faces alone while gagged in the bed listening to Becky go on and on were pretty priceless. After all the pain and agonizing that goes on in the SPN world it is nice to get these respites......

    ReplyDelete
  28. That may well be a reason, but I'm a guy and I hate her guts. She might be one of the most irritating characters I've watched on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Agreed on Jensen and Jared...they can definitely save even the worst material, which they did here.  They deserve better material.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Seriously? Funny? Great? This episode sucked monkey balls. Not even Crowley could save it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah, as I said above, Jensen and Jared can save even the worst material and they both did that here...they had their moments.  The rest of it sucked.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I knew from the start that it was going to be a light episode so I didn't expect much.  Did like the collective scream from all the ladies when the veil was lifted.

Cameo from Kathy Bates in the bedroom scene would have kicked ass.

    "I'm your number one fan!"

    ReplyDelete
  33. Way too much Sam, not near enough Dean and this stupid bitch should die at the end :/

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm a girl and sadly she shares my name but God... could they send her over to the Walking Dead set so I can what some Zombies eat her???

    ReplyDelete
  35. Confucius said "Falling hurts least, those who fly low."

Wasn't expecting much once I saw Becky.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Amen, Pigeon!   Can't speak for anyone else but it's not being irrational on my part...I can actually see the humor in the Becky character but it wasn't that great that she needed to be brough back three times.  You can overdo a joke and this one is toast.   I actually loved the fan convention episode in season 5...for me that was the whole poking fun at the fan base at its best.  It should've stopped there.  This was just stretching it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. She needs to end up in the rack with Ed Zeddmore.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I was incredibly upset she didnt die in this episode. I actually said nooo when she stabbed the demon.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Dabb and Loflin sound like the guys who pumped out my septic tank.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I agree so much! That last scene made me cry. Didn't Gamble say the brothers were going to be back stronger than ever this season? I sure haven't seen it! With the lies and the insults and the 'I don't need you anymore?' I'm not sure how much more of this I can take. We dealt with this enough during seasons four and five. I really don't need a repeat performance.
They need each other. Their brothers and that has been the point of the show for six seasons. If their getting away from that, then this isn't Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  41. All I could think when this episode ended was that this was a missed opportunity to build up on the Leviathan storyline. And we get a corny, awful episode instead.

    ReplyDelete
  42. God, me too!  I was offering to drop the piano on her whe she suggested it to the demon. :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. You know what the episode should have been? Endless montages of different deaths of her.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ok, Pigeon...you rock!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm with you on the ''chill'' part. Next week episode look like it will be great, so lets just forget this week episode and move on :) its not like there was any expectation to have before this episode, we pretty all saw it coming that it would be bad or close too.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I liked it more than I expected to. And I expected to hate it once I knew Becky was in it, and she lived down to my expectations.  I can't believe they let her redeem herself by killing the demon guy. I so wish they hadn't done that.

However. I loved the acting from Jared and Jensen. They always make something great out of whatever they're given.
I loved seeing Crowley - he makes me laugh even when he's being evil.
I really need to rewatch before I comment further, but like I said, I did like it more than I expected to.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hahahaha that would've been perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  48. What I found ironic is how a lot of people hate Becky from the beginning cause she's ''crazy'', overeacting or whatever, cause she's 'annoying'

But after if there's a bad episode, everyone is going like angry and drag the whole show down.
Every show has good and bad episodes. Last season, in the first 8, the only 2 good were Weekend at Bobbys and Family matters, this season we had couple of awesome one in the first 2 and Slash Fiction + couple of others that weren't great, but had moments like the one last week. Next week look really great, so why is it so hard to just let go of that one and move on to the next one? Instead of being an hater of a character who act like many people of the fandom

Personnally, I don,t mind Becky. I don't like her, but I don't hate her either, I'm neutral, so this episode was 'ok'

    ReplyDelete
  49. Especially Sam's muffled "fuck you" at Becky with her response of "I love you too" and his eye rolls and trying so hard to talk around that sock! LMAO! Jared is hysterical!

im not dragging the series at all if read above with this episode. All it says is about this episode being bad a long with one or two other episodes. And i agree that each season has a dud and this was mine for season 7 so cool down.

  52. I'm not entirely sure how to vote for this episode. It wasn't exactly meta as advertised... I'm not sure what it was. It did have it's moments. I loved Sam trying to talk around the rag in his mouth and Dean's face when he dropped off the waffle iron. Jensen and Jared did a fantastic job with what they were given. I liked the overall case -- a demon using a loophole -- and the fact that Crowley showed up to set things straight. Even though they're demons, they are bound by one rule. It's nice to know even evil has a line it won't cross.

That being said, I found the ep a bit uneven. Of course Becky was manipulating Sam (a love potion was actually one of the explanations I considered) and the fact that it was a demon manipulating her was actually not a bad plot twist. But it was frustrating to see it go on for so long when we knew it was a sham from the start. I wish they would've let the actual reason come out much sooner so it didn't look like Sam was nuts.

And as for Garth, I agree with Bobby's sentiment -- how the hell is he still alive? He had his funny moments, like when he tried to take charge and tell Dean 'this is the plan." And the "I thought you'd be taller" line made me giggle. But for the most part he was kinda sad and pathetic. In the end, I kind of saw him as a new pet that followed Dean home. Maybe that was my problem with this ep. One sad and pathetic character is enough, but with two it's complete overkill. Garth and Becky made the Winchesters look like poster kids for mental health. And we all know how far off the mark that is.

It wasn't horrible, but it isn't one I'm going to be watching over and over. Too much Becky, too little Winchester interaction. I'm not sure what they're alluding to, but Sam suddenly "knowing his way around the plate" is a little quick. I'm like Dean, waiting for the other shoe to fall. And I think the problem with Dean not needing to watch out for Sam is that without his family to protect, he has no idea who he is. Ever since he came back from Hell, he's been making sure he had someone (Sam, Lisa, Ben, Cas, victims, etc.) to help and take care of so he doesn't have to face the emptiness inside himself. Now that Cas has ripped the last bit of trust away, I think he's going to find it a lot harder to find a reason within himself to go on. Maybe that's his secret?

I am looking forward to next weeks hunt for the Jersey Devil. It looks amazingly creepy and suspenseful as Supernatural episodes should. As long as Dabb and Laughlin didn't have anything to do with writing it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. There you go again - agreeing with me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think they are stronger.  We are seeing a more mature relationship between the brothers.  They will always need each other, but now more as equals.  Not as Dean looking out for Sam only.  Sam was only saying that Dean can stop revolving everything around Sam's well being and think more about himself.  No where in there is the thought that they are going to move on without each other.

I can see where both brothers are coming from.  I have a friend who is battling mental illness and for more years than I can count I have felt like I have been out on a ledge just waiting for the bad to happen.  He is getting better finally, but for me, I am having the hardest time "coming down off the ledge" as I like to say.  Afraid the other foot is going to drop and I will be unprepared.  That is where I see Dean right now.  He can see that Sam is ok and is being told that he is ok, but is just having a really hard time coming off the ledge.  Sam is just telling him that it is ok to let go and move on into a better place (if that makes sense)

So looking at it that way, I'm very excited to see how the brothers' relationship grows.

    ReplyDelete
  55. The brothers' bond getting stronger and the storyline is great

    ReplyDelete
  56. I thought it was friggin' hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  57. This was a great episode.  I imagine that there will be Sam bondage photos all over the Internet by the time I get home from work tomorrow. lol.  I was afraid it would be horrible with Becky, but it was well written, well directed, and very well acted.   DJ Qualls made me laugh.  Dean was great, but the look on his face when Sam told him I don't need you any more broke my heart.   The look at the end when Sam told him that he didn't have to be protected any more and Dean should be glad he was free, said it all.  Dean has acknowledged that Sam is a grown man, but Dean still has to be needed.  He needs to be there for his Sammy.  It has been ingrained for way too long.

All in all, this was an excellent story.  It was good to see Crowley.  I really love the beard.  HIs attitude towards the Winchesters was interesting.  Telling them that he had warned the demons to stay away because of the Leviathans sure put a strange look on Dean's face.

I am going to have to watch this several more times.  It was so good.  Even Becky was not quite as obnoxious as she usually is.  Only because I felt sorry for her. Otherwise, I disliked her as much I did in season 5.  I do wish that my thought earlier would come true.  I almost thought it was going to until Dean told Garth no.  I think Garth and Becky would suit each other.

    ReplyDelete
  58. You could watch Dean's face when Sam said I don't need you and then at end and know beyond a doubt that Dean needs Sam and needs for Sam to need him.  Right now Sam is on a  high  because of the freedom from guilt.  Give him time.  He's gonna recognize that Dean is essential to his life.  Right now he's enjoying what he thinks is freedom.  It's really not, but he doesn't know that yet.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I am sorry that some of you feel this way.  It is not a bad episode at all.  It was highly enjoyable.  I enjoyed the farcical part.  I ached during the serious part.  It was well written.  The acting was good.  I enjoyed it just for enjoyment's sake.  I am a writer and I liked the writing in this one.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I have seen debacles and this was not one at all.  It was a fun episode.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I really liked this episode.  Loved Dean in the chapel.  His facial expressions were classic.  I loved Sam tied up :)  And I loved the plot line about Crowley keeping the demons away so they can concentrate on the Leviathans.  Guess Crowley is still the only piece on the game board that doesn't underestimate the "denim clad nightmares" :)

As I stated below, I enjoy where they are taking the brothers' relationship.  Sam isn't a kid anymore and Dean needs to step down off of the ledge worrying that Sam is going to crash and burn.  I will like to see a more even relationship develop where they rely on each other equally.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I disagree with that.  There have not been that many duds this season at all.  I think each of us has our expectations.  I don't expect every episode to knock my socks off.  Several this season already have.  I don't mind those that don't.  For me, a so so or even bad episode of Supernatural with Sam and Dean in it is better then what I see elsewhere.  I prefer this show over anything else and always will.  I enjoy it.  I expect to laugh, cry, be frightened, or just enjoy.  Any of those are fine, and they have never let me down. This one may have been goofy.  I don't mind.  They do goofy better than anyone I know and they make it fun.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I can appreciate that.  Almost every season I have one I really don't want to watch again.  The one I dislike the most is Season 4  After School Special.  Mainly because Dean is not Sylvester Stallone and that is how young Dean was played.

    ReplyDelete
  64. You've confused me a little.  I know, I know, I'm from Indiana and I lift weights. Ok I'll give you that. Becky got the vial from the crossroads demon about 10 minutes in at the banquet hall.  We pretty much knew the gig was up then. I thought it would be funnier and agree that Garth was sad and pathetic, but aren't all hunters?  They dress the same, have the same tired, unshaven look.

    Just a thought or two.

Next week looks like wall-to-wall action.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I don't like Becky and expected to hate this episode, but I found parts of it very funny, parts of it kind of silly, and Dean was great.  DJ Qualls was very funny.  I felt sorry for Dean.  I got to admit Sam in bondage was fun to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Sam admitted he's got a train wreck running around in his head but he's dealing with it.  Dean looked like he's admitting Sam's all grown up now.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I do believe that Jensen and Jared can save any scene, but this, in my opinion was not one that sucked.  It had a lot of good moments.  I can live with that.  I've seen worse.  Most of the worse is not on this show.

    ReplyDelete
  68. We must stop this. People will start to talk. :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm a writer too and I can't imagine how you could like the writing of this one.  It was really forced.  I have to say it made the episode with the two witches a few weeks ago look a lot better.

    ReplyDelete
  70. 10 minutes? Really? It seemed soooo much longer. :) We had to have a wedding, Sam argue with Dean after the wedding and tell him where they were going (whatever happened to show, don't tell?), have Becky stop at the reunion, have the tall pretty chick oogle over Sam, then out to the parking lot and meet XR demon Guy. Then we finally see a vial and, although it isn't made too obvious, still have to wait a while longer for Sam to start to freak out and get normal. THEN Becky doses him again. Maybe it was just me, but that seemed like FOREVER!!!!

And yeah, all hunters seem to dress alike and have the same look (only some -- ie: Winchesters -- can pull it off much better than others.) but I don't think they're all sad and pathetic. I'm talking mangy kicked puppy sad and pathetic. Sam and Dean never strike me as mangy kicked puppies. :)

Next week we're back to suspense. Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Don't get me wrong, I'll take a bad Supernatural episode over almost anything else out there, but I guess I'm spoiled.  I'm so used to them being so much better than anything else on TV these days that when they fall short of that it's disappoiting.  And I'm sorry, but yeah, there have been a few weaker episodes already this season, but like I said, every season has its duds.  Even the most talented people can have an off day.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Wow.  I really disliked this episode.  The worst one of the season.  As a matter of fact, for me anyway, this episode was one of the worst of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I thought the episode was... hmmm... Probably between bad and great. So..."OK" I suppose. I was expecting much worse. And while watching, I saw everything happen as I would expect: Love potion, surprise Becky bride, she eventually helps the brothers, the crossroads demon, etc. I thought everyone (Garth, Crowley, Sam, Dean and the crossroads demon) all did well in their parts. Garth was funny at times, but I thought there wasn't quite enough of him. I don't hate Becky as much this season, but just the fact that they found a way to drag her back into the story irks me. I think that in the end, it showed how strong Sam is to tell her that she just needs to focus her energy on something else, something more productive. (Which is a nice lesson learned *cough*) and then at the end, when Sam and Dean made up even more, I enjoyed that as well. My favorite part, without a doubt, was when Crowley intervened and spit out some answers. Crowley immediately made the episode better for me. Also, I thought the accidental deaths were well-done this episode as well.

All in all, it wasn't awful by any means. But I also feel like aside from the Crowley scene, I'm probably just ignoring this episode from now on. I still liked it more than the Osiris episode though.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm with you in all. i probably liked this more than the osiris and witches ep, at least next week is going to be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yeah that's why he puts that face at the end when Sam says to him he needs to starts taking care of himself or something like that

    ReplyDelete
  76. Couldn't agree more, SuePo!   It was obvious at the end there that Dean literally doesn't know how to exist without taking care of Sam.  It's been so ingrained in him since he was 4, that's it literally all he's had and ever since the end of Season 5 he's been struggling with the idea of letting Sam grow up.  I didn't really have a problem with that, I like how they're letting both brothers grow up a bit.  I just think the real answer is somewhere in the middle...Dean needs to let Sam grow but still be there for him and Sam needs to stand on his own two feet but still rely on big brother at times.  Hopefully they can find that balance somehow. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. I though we were never going to see more demons XD

    ReplyDelete
  78. Very well acted, yes...I'll give you that.   As for the rest?  Don't think so.  The directing was almost a non factor and other than the Crowley scene and the ending, the writing sucked.  There were good moments but for the most part it was strained.  I know all shows have good and bad episodes, but when the good has been as brilliant as it has on SPN, the bad really stands out even more and this is a perfect example of that.

    ReplyDelete
  79. The exploding wedding ake was pretty good with falling bride/groom figure.

    ReplyDelete
  80. next ep by Edlund and the next one by Sera..

    ReplyDelete
  81. yeah probably... and the writers from the witches are the sames from route 666

    ReplyDelete
  82. I see your point.  I think Becky's hyper-skittishness makes my clock turn faster and makes yours seem like an eternity.

  83. So the leviathans wouldn't find them

    ReplyDelete
  84. This was a sub-par episode.

     - Becky is okay in very very small doses so an entire Becky episode was WAY too much.
     - If they could channel all of Becky's crazy into something cool or useful the character would be a lot more fun.  Unfortunately, that's not the way it went.
     - Except for Crowley, there were no surprises.  Once I knew the bride was Becky, the episode basically wrote itself.  That's not a good thing.
     - DJ Qualls' material wasn't very funny.  He did what he could with the part but it was poorly written.
     - I don't like "throwaway" episodes and this was one of them.  It took an entire episode to make two important points (1. - Crowley is more ally than enemy right now, 2. - Dean needs to take care of Dean) that they could have accomplished in a scene or two.  It's wasteful.

    My bottom line on Becky:
I think the actress gives great performances.  As for the character, I don't really love or hate her.  She is what she is and I can take her or leave her.  She has her moments.  I strongly believe that a lot of the people who really hate her feel that way because she's the most meta character on the show by far.  I guess, to some people (not all but some), meta isn't so funny when the Supernatural writers hold up a big mirror to the SPN fangirl nation.  That mirror's name is Becky.

  87. That's about the only thing and I agree on in this episode...absolutely agree with your take on the final scene!

    ReplyDelete
  88. They should have just summoned and bound Death and when he showed up, pointed to Becky.

    ReplyDelete
  89. You had me right up to the last paragraph.   Once again, can't speak for others but as far as I'm concerned, I have no problem laughing at myself.  I thought the fan convention episode in Season 5 turned that mirror on us perfectly and was exceptionally well done.  I feel the character of Becky is over done (has nothing to do with the acress herself).  As you said, ok in small doses but not as the center of a whole episode.
She just annoys me but she wasn't actually my biggest problem with the episode.  That would be, as you said, that it seemed to write itself.  It was a throw away and after all the angst the brothers had gone through in the last couple of episodes, I thought it was really bad timing for a throwaway episode.  Just badly written, badly timed in the overall arc of the season, and disappointing.

Thank God for Jared, Jensen and Mark Sheppard...they saved this episode from complete trainwreck status, proving that they can turn even dreck into gold!

  90. BWAHAHA...best comment of the night! :D

  91. "Once again, can't speak for others but as far as I'm concerned, I have no problem laughing at myself."

No worries.  That's why I was very careful to specify some and not all.  I agree with the crux of your post, by the way.  Crowley and the performances of the leads did salvage an almost entirely forgettable episode.  When Crowley popped up onscreen, I literally said "saved in the nick of time."

    ReplyDelete
  92. Jeez, Bruce you really know how to kick a hornet's nest don't you? :P
I agree that Emily Perkins plays Becky perfectly. I do not like the character at all. Irritating, juvenile, & psychologically disturbed are just some of the words I'd use to describe her.

But you are right, there are elements of the fandom who closely resemble Becky. I find that very scary. *runs and hides cuz I'm not as brave as Bruce*

  93. Never run from your own opinions.  You have as much a right to yours as anyone else does to theirs.  :)

  94. mmm, I dunno, I liked the light tone and the predictability, it was an easy ep. Kinda filler? yes, necessary? no. A fun tv hour? yes. Not the biggest Becky fan, but this episode made me like her better, she's crazy, but at the end she came trhough to help the brothers. Perkins performance was great, a lesser actor would be grating, but she veers wonderfuly between annoying and sweet and creepy. I like that Becy is part of the show, she amuses me.

I like to think that Qualls character went back to her place and now they hunt together.

  96. OMG, like totes, yes. ohmygod, like cringing and totallytotes dissapointed, how dare they??? like I barfed all over my laptop over sheer disgust that they dared to bring Becky back, cause she's so lame!!!! I hate Sera and everyone,  cause this sucked and I'm crying like tears of blood over the atrocity and victimization that this episode was to me personally!!!!111!1!!!!eleven

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'd say its less a female thing than a she is incredibly annoying thing.  She's one thing the majority of the fandom seems to agree on.  I know fans who don't participate online and even they had a negative reaction to Becky coming back again.  She's just really easy to hate.  Can't believe Supernatural kills off 97% of its female characters and she's still living.  It's not just the Winchester life that is unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  98. After a second watch, I've decided the ep has gone up a notch or two. Still found Becky irritating but I could see past her to the comical element - Sam & Dean's reactions to both her and Garth were hilarious.
Loved the wedding cake splattering over the title card.
I loved that last scene - Dean's face when Garth hugged him - and Sam's reaction to that.

    ReplyDelete
  99. So glad that other people are having a problem with Dabb and Loflin.  They drive me insane and I wish they would concentrate on producing and leave the writing to someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  100. It was a throwaway ep in general, but with a few links to the main arc - which is something I think SPN does well. I thought it was fun. I loved Crowley at the end. I loved that even a roofied Sam wanted Dean to be his best man, and to be happy for him. I loved the waffle iron wedding present. The cheating crossroads demon was a good idea. Garth was funny. I loved the scene at the end between the boys. Becky was OK. I don't have the allergic reaction to her that some in the fandom do. I think some see her as the showrunners making fun of them, and she kind of is but a) get a sense of humour, and b) it is affectionate IMO.

Overall not my favourite ep of the season, but I enjoyed it, and it was far better than any of the 1st 8 eps of s6 - so I'm good.

    ReplyDelete
  101. It was okay. I was cringing in several parts though. But I did love DJ's hunter opposite Jensen's Dean :)

    ReplyDelete
  102. Bride just entered.  had to hit pause.  Laughing too hard.  Must catch my breath.  Thanks to "previouslys"  I knew who the bride was the second the door opened.  Hysterical.

Sam just found Becky's note  book.  I lost it again.  I'm going to have to watch this a second time before it sinks in.

Hey!  DJ Qualls!!!!  An ep just chock full of goodness!
I want a tri-racial paraplegic sniper?  eek!  I suppose that's one way to use a waffle iron!

I'm guessing Becky didn't take the deal.

Oh Becky, No!  Say it isn't so!  Say it's a trick!

    Whew!

Not even demons can get me to go anywhere near Blueberry Vodka.

For once I am absolutely thrilled to see Crowley.  I love the lecture about Hell's integrity.

    heh heh.. "Temp."

Aww.  The look on Dean's face at the idea of taking care of himself.

Okay.  I loved this episode.  I needed to be tickled that much and I had a really god time watching it.

    Awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Comedy is a really subjective thing.  I wouldn't be surprised if it's all either liked it or hated it and almost no middle of the road responses.

I thought it was hilarious and really fun.   I agree with you jensenfan1978.  Loved everything except Jared's hair.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I usually agree with you on Becky.  She's best in tiny tiny doses, but I didn't have that problem tonight.  The scene that had the most potential for her to annoy me (when she was whining to a hogtied Sam) kept me giggling.   (  Eh...comedy's subjective.  I still haven't figured out why everyone kept saying Scrubs was funny.  Every time I tried to watch...never cracked a smile.  Same problem with 30 Rock, The Office....etc. )

Anyway, the reason I replied was because I do agree with you about DJ Qualls.  I think they wasted him.   I would have much preferred to see him come in as a major guest star for an ep rather than what just felt like stunt casting.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I have always hated meta episodes and will no doubt continue to do so until I'm given a valid reason not to.
The only one that I can really say is supportable is The Monster at the end of the Book, as it had some good scenes  which redeemed it a little, eg,. the laundry scene and the various prophecies playing out.
Then there was the scene between Chuck and Sam with the blood addiction reveal, the scene with Lilith and even the exchange with Castiel about the archangels protecting Chuck, plus the awesome Zachariah at the end.

On the other hand the alternative universe/time travel/ comedy episodes have all been wonderful.
    alt.univ--
What is and What Never Should Be, It's a Terrible Life, I don't know if Mystery Spot could be included here as it was sort of alt-univ.

    Time travel----
In the beginning/ The End/The Song Remains the Same/Frontierland.

Then the comedy episodes have been great too--without any need for meta!
Tall Tales, Bad Day at Black Rock Yellow fever, Wishful Thinking with the giant teddy bear and
Changing Channels which gave us a great comedy episode.

What I 'm trying to say is that the Supernatural premise gives the writers so many creative opportunities that they don't need to try and suck up to the fans with these cringing meta episodes.

This is only me as I am sure the majority of you have completely opposing opinions :-)

    ReplyDelete
  106. I'm someone who always loved Jared's hair and this episode I was wondering where it went. When he was looking straight on to camera we could see it up high and peeking out down low, but from about his nose to his chin it seemed to be glued to his neck. I just saw him at a convention at the end of October and it was glorious... what product do they use? They should not tame the mane!

    ReplyDelete
  107. I totally agree... I loved it! I laughed and was uncomfortable (in a good way :-)...

This was supposed to be a light hearted episode to get us ready for the angst in the next two leading up to the mid season break... People shouldn't be hating on it because it wasn't as over the top as Yellow Fever. That episode had some serious funny and some serious angst. This didn't have as much angst or as much funny, but it was still so unexpected.

I was one of the people hoping the bride was Becky, but I was still surprised at the demon deals and how earnest she was; of course she was also annoying, but that was expected :-)

    ReplyDelete
  108. It was fun reading your recap. I laughed all over the place when I was watching it, but some of my favorites were when Sam was tied up... even after she stuck the rag in his mouth I could still understand (or make a good guess at) a lot of what he was saying.LOL

    ReplyDelete
  109. The only thing I asked of this episode was that Becky NOT be Sam's bride...and that's exactly how it played out. But she was a lot less awful than I expected, and the episode was a lot of fun. Love Dean's can't-wrap-his-head-around-the-situation reaction, and the demon was wonderful. Nice to see Crowley again too. Ehhh....What the hell. Even Becky rocked. Excellent episode.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Another ok episode, pretty standalone aside from Crowley (best part of the episode), at least its not as bad as its been this season.  Won't say anything more.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I don't really know where to place this episode..Somewhere between ok and great. So,good,I guess.

Generally,it seems that the writers are taking the same approach as they did in season 6.In the first half of the season we have more stand alone episodes with small details to connect with the major plot line(in this case, the Leviathans). And then I'm guessing that we'll really get into it after the break. The difference with season 6,in my opinion,is that the stand alone episodes(or at least the majority) are better than last year's.

I enjoyed this episode.I wasn't rolling around laughing, but I was smiling through most of it.Never had a problem with Becky,so I didn't mind that she was the bride. And no matter what everyone thinks of the character, the actress is really good.

I liked DJ Qualls, but I was probably bound to because he reminds me of Numb3rs. : (
His character was a little calmer than what I had pictured, but he had his moments. It would be fun to see him again.

The absolutely best part though were Jared and Jensen's facial expressions.Totally priceless!

Next episode seems really intense and these are the ones I like the best. It'll be a welcome change, since the last couple episodes had a lighter tone.

  112. this was a good ep and I hate people hating on it I was LOLING my ass off it was great I need that not being pissed off thats what I do not need like dean killing amy that pissed me off bad OK! this was a fun ep and thats it I think all the bad stuff there saving for the end of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Haha, that is exactly how I feel about young Dean! xD

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'm sorry, but some of us just didn't like this episode. It's a matter of opinion. Is that so hard to understand?

    ReplyDelete
  115. Nope. I hate people like her in this fandom, because they are annoying and stupid for the most part. Why would I want to see them on my tv screen?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Thank god for that. I love season 7, but I hated this episode.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Like I said, I hate people like her in this fandom,. They're stupid and annoying to the point of being scary, and most of them have stalker-ish tendencies in real life as well.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Didn't like this episode too much.. but it had its moments. Liked the last scene especially, love to see how Sam and Dean have grown as brothers.

I think it's funny how different the opinions are about this episode. Some people loved it, some even hated it. But that will always be the case, even fan favorites like Changing Channels aren't liked by everyone. Nobody can like all episodes, and nobody has to. So if you didn't like this episode, there's always the next one, or the next, or the next... No need to go all hater on this one ;)

    ReplyDelete
  119. The brothers are a funny duo. I am glad the writers allow that part of their personalities out of the dim dark baggage compartment sometimes. When I watch the show I do not watch it for soap opera/dramatic qualities I watch it for entertainment! I was and continue to be entertained by this show. The only time I come away with a knot in my stomach is when these brothers are on the outs! That to me is big NO NO. I love the single story shows........there are plenty of monsters out there to keep them busy for a decade of Friday nights. I like Crowley cheering them on to destroy the Leviathan (even though it's because he was dissed by the big boss) doesn't matter because Crowley speaks for the fans..".get rid of them I won't stand in your way!" Crowley wants them gone and so do I. Backstory begone and you SPN writers learn from this and NEVER put one back in.............stop letting us fans finally be happy being back to basics Friday night hunts... and than whammo here comes the angst and melodrama and big bad backstory! Okay enough said...........I love SPN and I love the Brothers.......and Bobby and Baby too!

    ReplyDelete
  120. They seem to love to see how stupid they can make Sam be. The only saving grace i this episode was Crowley and even then it didn't do much to help.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I liked it. It was fairly funny (not laugh out loud funny, but I was smiling through most of it.) It isn't my favorite of the season, but it isn't the worst.

"His and hers fake ids?" Only a hunter would think that was romantic!

Crowley! I love Crowley, it was great to see him.

But... Dean's face when Sam said he didn't need him. And then at the end. D: He looked upset. I think he needs Sam to need him... Not good. *sigh* I hope this doesn't lead to more angst (who am I kidding? These are the Winchesters; angst is their middle name!) I just want them to be good and not have problems. *double sigh*
Apart from that though, I enjoyed it. I'd give it a six or a seven.

    ReplyDelete
  122. It wasn't my favorite of the season, but I don't know about WORST. For worst I'd say Girl Next Door, or maybe Defending Your Life, and I enjoyed some parts of those, even.

    ReplyDelete
  123. That's not my least favorite, but I have to agree. The first time I watched that episode and saw young Dean I cringed. Very over the top!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Not the best episode I've ever seen. Not bad, but not remarkable. I'd wish the bride wasn't the real Becky, it could've been a critter. Anyway, I'm ready for the next one.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I always compare SPN with the latest ep of TVD and this week TVD wins big time.

I was very disappointed in this ep, a few chuckles, but all in all maybe a 5 out of 10

Was glad to see Crowley, with a beard, how hot is that. lol  And to see the Levis mentioned, the cake blow up with the black goo was a nice touch.

Will watch again to see if it will grow on me, kind of like mold, maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  126. The shows hair stylist is aweful, the need to sack her and get in someone who gives a damn.

    ReplyDelete
  127. It was funny for the first few minutes. But then it started feeling kind of rapey. Like, I never liked the fanfics with love potions, because it, as Sam says, feels like getting roofied.
I enjoyed the episode, but it wasn't one of my favorites. It needed more Garth and less Becky.
Crowley also apparently did not take the Leviathans rejecting him well. He clearly needs a Garth hug. In fact, Garth hugs for all the characters.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I liked it.  I went in with appropriate expectations and found it funny.  Becky doesn't annoy me as much as she does others.  The think the actress who plays her does comedy well, and that's what the character is supposed to be - just funny.  We got what seems to be standard in all Supernatural episodes lately:

    - Dean deals with some kind of loss - in this one his role as his brother's protector  (check)
    - The call to Bobby for help (check)
    - The feel-good talk at the end of the episode by the car (check)
    - The gory deaths (check)

    The positives -

Loved seeing some expressions on Sam's face again.  He went through too long of a non-emotive phase (from about season 5 to about now), and it's nice to see him laugh again.  The expression in his eyes were really funny when he had the rag in his mouth.  There was an episode a couple of seasons ago when both Sam and Dean were wearing hospital masks and all of their expression was in their eyes.  It was a great scene, and this reminded me of that.

    Loved to see Crowley again.

The camera work/direction was really good in a lot of scenes.

Liked the Garth character too, although he didn't really stand out for me.

It really was funny, and it moved along at a good pace.  The meta comments about the fandom were good.

    The negatives -

It was Becky.  I would have preferred seeing someone more meaningful like Bella or Jess.

As nice as it is to see Sam smile, I'm having problems with the fact that they just fast-forwarded past the whole trauma part of the Hell trauma.  The hallucinations are just a symptom of a past injury - they're not him actually dealing with and feeling the pain of the memories, let alone making peace with his RoboSam history.  I was an advocate of Sam emerging from this feeling stronger - like he had faced his worst nightmare and survived - but this was too rushed.  I expected a half-season or full season of him actually facing his nightmare, and that hasn't happened.

  132. I thought it was awesome! Of course, everyone was right, except for me, about fangirl Becky being Sam's wife. But, it was a setup from the very beginning and I knew that this could not be for real with the two of them. Frankly, I wanted to see Sarah! But, I think Becky has grown up and she is cute and pretty and just a little different from the rest of us, but that is ok. Seeing Crowley after so long was nice, too. So, he gives the boys his "blessing" to hunt and kill the leviathon anyway they can because he does not like them either. I don't think he cares about Cas or where he is. I understand that Misha has signed up for Ringer, but maybe it won't be for long. I miss Cas, but I want the old Cas back and not the bad one. I wonder what happened to the Impala, too, and wish it was back. No one seems to be making a big deal about it not being in service. A great show as always!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Not my fault if people are reacting exactly like Becky in theirs comments about almost every episodes, over every single details, and then said they hate her cause she's overacting over everything. SPN is a great serie overall, but its still just a serie, no need for people to hate character like they're real or hate episodes like their life depend on it

    ReplyDelete
  134. Having thought about it some more, I think that something went wrong in the concept between script to screen. It could have been really hysterical and played for laughs but something just fell through. I was cringing most of the time just watching Becky on the screen. And while the boys were great acting wise--- there were parts where I felt that even they were just as stunned at some of the scenarios they had to act out. Maybe it was supposed to feel really OOC but then meta episodes lately feel like that to me :(

And the last scene was for me just put there to remind people of the struggles the boys are going through. These type of scenes started in S4 as a way of explaining/going into the boys' psyche and while it worked great then, now it is just annoying and repetitive.

    Just my two cents.

  135. On the camping reference, anyone else think of the earlier seasons when they were sleeping in the Impala under the stars in the middle of nowhere?  I think a hunting road trip is in order if Sam needs to go to Vegas to get some outdoor time.

  138. I'm not going yo even start on the plot holes. But the big one? Sam Winchester is legally dead. He got married under his own name. So, technically, Becky married a dead guy. Not exactly legally binding, so what the hell did we need the whole 'sign an annulment' scene for? How exactly are they going to file that? :) I appreciate the shout out to Sam's law school history and maybe they were attempting to appease the fans by making it painfully obvious that Sam and Becky are no longer married, but since there is no way a dead guy could legally get married in the first place, this scene really insulted my intelligence. maybe it was just me, tho. I wish they would've had Dean make a comment somewhere about Sam Winchester being legally dead, that might have actually been funny.

  142. Of course they still need each other as brothers.  Sam just means Dean doesn't have tolook out for him any more.  That is a classic younger sibling who feels they are now grown up and mature enough for the older sibling not to hve to look after anymore.  He is not telling Dean he does not need him in his life anymore, just that Dean doesn't need to spend his whold itme looking out for Sam.

  143. I liked it. It was fun and great, but... Something was missing.

    ReplyDelete
  144. from the second I saw Becky in the promo, I was like "noooooo!"  and when she got all tweet-happy after the wedding, it reminded me of "Misha" in "The French Mistake", which just made me sad haha..

you could tell pretty early on something was up - the vengeful reunion thing kind of tipped you off, and the suspicious Wiccan (well.. crossroads demon..) hand-off?  yeah.. not everything was going to come up roses in this marriage.. aaaand then presto!  love potion.. it was comforting that Sam immediately knew something was wrong when he snapped out of it the second time - at least he hadn't gone COMPLETELY around the bend..

I got so sad when Sam told Dean he didn't need him anymore  :(  they've been together for so long, and Dean's always felt responsible for his little brother, so it's obvious that one hit a little too close to home..

one of the things I love about this show is its ability to poke fun at itself - the dig about how the Supernatural series isn't really that popular was hilarious, and I appreciate that they can joke about it..

one of my favorite lines of the entire episode goes to Crowley, who was a nice surprise - "This isn't Wall Street, this is Hell... we have a little something called integrity!"

I did enjoy the episode overall, but I'm really glad Becky won't be back anytime soon.. well, fingers crossed.  I would've gone crazy if the marriage lasted any longer than it did!  It was sweet of Sam to give her advice at the end, though I don't know how much it sunk in!

it was really nice to see Sam and Dean joking around again at the end, too.. I've missed that!

  149. Amen on DJ Qualls.  He's an excellent actor and there was real potential for the Garth character but by throwing him in there in a Becky-centric episode, he was totally wasted.  Her character is so over the top that she literally draws all your attention away from anyone else.  It's a testatment to Mark Sheppard's acting that his entrance was like a literal breath of fresh air...he finally wrested the focus back from Becky onto something that actually mattered.  It really say something when you're cheering for the King of Hell!

  150. Not great, but I can't say I 100% hated it either...
Too much Becky for my taste, but the guys were stellar (even with sub-bar material, and Jared's notebook hugging was pure GOLD) and Garth was fun and of course Crowley kicked ass!

Just a mediocre episode IMO. I rated it with an OK.

  151. I agree with you about Becky.  I think she was the perfect "other half" for Chuck. Both of them were neurotic in their own special ways but she was just okay without him.

Would have been nice to see her reach her final destination.

  152. Loved this comment, the last line was priceless and so right, and Crowley with a beard was great.  My favorite scene of all time with Becky was when she first met Sam and had her hand on his chest and the look on both their faces.

    ReplyDelete
  153. And it is much more fun discussing shows that people don't agree on. I see how people didn't like the episode and they are very passionate and well-versed about it. That's what makes it fun.

My expectations were low once I saw Becky and I think they really missed the boat when they didn't reference "Misery" somehow during the bedroom scene.

    Could have been classic laughs.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Are you reading more into Crowley's short appearance? He's showed part of his hand by keeping the demons off of the boys while the Leviathan are around. I thought he would try to take the boys out after the Leviathan battle.

Now I think he's going back after the souls. He knows Death can be bound and he can cause an eclipse. Nothing but souls left in Purgatory.  That would make him unstoppable. Unless someone  beats him to it.

    Just thinking out loud.

  155. Crowley was kind of the highlight for me - I did enjoy the episode, but I love that snarky little guy.. I'm glad they're keeping him around and bringing him back every now and then!

    ReplyDelete
  156. yeah, Becky is always a recipe for disaster.. she needs to be gone for good now

    ReplyDelete
  157. that would have been absolutely fantastic.. an episode I would gladly watch multiple times.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I seem to bucking the trend here but I liked this ep more than last week's. Then again, I've  never disliked Becky as some fans did-  I've only disliked the end scene in TRG with Becky rewriting canon and telling Sam that Bela gave the Colt to Crowley. I felt very sympathetic/empathetic toward Becky even though I would never resort to her means of getting her man.

One of the several problems I had with the episode is the "several gap" between TRG and this episode that I had to mentally fill myself: it's 10th reunion time  and it's got to be ripe CRD picking's time, a time when people start to dream of how their is "now" versus what they "dreamed it could be".

  159. I loved this!!!!!!!! and seriously, what about Jared's acting with the sock in his mouth? he was hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  160. No doubt there will be more twists when it comes to Crowley. I don't think he'd make a second grab for the purgatory souls though, just because the story would seem to similar to last season's and I don't think the writers would go there.

    I know. I need a hobby.

    Sorry.

  163. I'm not saying that you should like the episode (I didn't really like it myself), I just think some people are taking it a bit far and see this as an opportunity to point out everything they don't like about the show. Some comments just make it hard to believe for me that the person who wrote it actually likes the show. But hey, maybe I'm reading too much into it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  164. Loved this episode, the show works so much better for me when they aren't so serious about themselves :D  And, Mark Sheppard is epic ;) :DDD

    ReplyDelete
  165. You should see my comment on the other page :) I'm with you on this one. The second Becky is in something they hate the whole episoe cause they hate her, but they're acting just like her in theirs comments

    ReplyDelete
  166. seriously I could do without the 'what's Dean's issue' crap every week. Sam is like a breath of fresh air these days, he deals with his shit without emo-ing about it episode after episode.

    Less Dean more Sam please.

  167. I think I love you for this comment... ♥ lol

  168. The character of Becky is like putting a mirror in front of us, isn't it? I know I thought it at some point during the episode...

    ReplyDelete
  169. at least its not all of us. I see people here who don't always have a violent reaction at every episode

    ReplyDelete
  170. I expect to see more hallucinations and trouble for Sam in the midseason, I guess they're keeping it for big moments instead of having Sam going crazy every episode

    ReplyDelete
  171. You're post reminded of something. I was in a chatroom with other Supernatural fans after the episode and one of the gals brought up "Jesus" was tempted by and resisted "The Devil" in a desert. Many prophet types go off in the wilderness, fast (granola-munching) to contemplate and wrestle with their own "demons". I thought that was a very astute observation and maybe Sam "had to get away" from Dean for few days because his "SatanVision" was starting to overwhelm him and he doesn't want to worry Dean about because he thinks there's little that Dean can do about it. Obviously at some point, Becky intercepted Sam on his camping trip and dosed his food.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I don't want hallucinations every episode, but there should be more going on here than hallucination. As an example, if someone was kidnapped and tortured for a number of years, there would be a whole range of emotions and reactions the person would have to work through before they started to heal. It may be that Sam is dealing with some of this, but it's all off screen. A half season is too long to put his character's story on hold, especially since they should have started telling Sam's hell story last year. And there's no guarantee we'll get more than a scene or two in the second half.

    ReplyDelete
  173. This is a great theory, but it would be nice if it was in the story. I have little patience for writers who throw out a few crumbs and expect the fans to write their own stories with them.

    ReplyDelete
  174. He still needs the blood of a Purgatory Native... I wonder if that black goo from the Leviathans counts as blood?

    ReplyDelete
  175. They're on record as being dead -- again -- since the sheriff filed reports and the ME faked autobsies etc. Even the LeviaBoss said they couldn't bring them back alive again because it would strain belief even with the American media. He told LeviaGMan to bring the bodies back, but nothing was said about them disappearing. And it was on the news (Bobby and Sheriff Mills saw it) so I would say it's pretty official. Again. :)

  176. I really enjoyed this episode. I've actually been enjoying the entire season so far, only episodes 3 and 4 were a little weaker, but still ok.

I never hated Becky, so I was completely fine with her in this episode, some of her and Sam's scenes were hilarious. I was also glad to see a simple demon hunt again, but to be honest at first I thought the guy who was killing those people was something cooler than just a demon. I loved Crowley and the way he defended Hell's honor ;P the guy seriously needs to pop in for more than just a few minutes an episode.

Well, maybe the plot was a bit too simple for my liking, from the sneak peeks I was expecting some alternate reality or a trickster or sth (now that I think of it... we've never actually had an episode with a trickster before. What we thought was a trickster turned out to be an archangel, so would be cool to see the real thing for a change), but in general it was just another entertaining and strong episode this season. Gotta say, there hasn't been an episode I'd dislike yet, so I call it a success. I'm still liking season 7 a lot.

just watched supernatural time for a wedding . It was actually qite good concerning i had little hope for stand alone episodes but if you have ever seen the movie "misery" then it's really funny ......loved that the crossroads is bk in the game :) and ♥ cowerly well ♥ all them . so i rate it 8/10

  179. I am going to back track if that is OK with y'all, after going back and watching this ep 2 more times, am changing my rating from just OK to Awesome.  It was great fun and yes I could see Sam tied to my bed. lol  Lot of very good one liners and gosh the facial expressions on both Dean at the wedding and Sam when tied up were priceless.  Glad they had the heart to heart, although Dean could have been more responsive with less glibness.  I love the piano music that always plays when important talks are happening.  This same music has been all thru the series.

Hmmm. I really liked this episode, and I'm liking Season 7, but I feel as if story wise for Sam and Dean, we're going nowhere. So far, Sam's storyline has hardly been addressed, and I feel as if he's OK too fast. I understand that his storyline will probably pick up again soon, and he's only OK right now, but I don't want to wait so long, usually we get some insight into a story arc by now but this season... It would be easier if we had something with Dean, but so far the way they're addressing his problem feels wrong. Me, and many others, understand where he is, but the story isn't giving the situation the emotion Supernatural is good at. I haven't actually felt Dean's pain yet, and I only felt for Sam in the first 2 episodes of the Season. As a whole, Season 7 has some great episodes, but what's missing is the actual STORY for Sam and Dean! We haven't gotten anywhere! The first 2 episodes and Slash Fiction continued the Leviathan storyline, but every other episode has basically been filler. Dean opened up a bit in The Mentalist, but in a very normal, casual way. There was no pure emotion that made me feel for him, other than the understanding and Jensen's face expressions. This is why people are getting annoyed with Dean's arc, it's not being played out right. We as viewers are waiting for Dean to explain something, to feel something for Dean, but all we're getting is Dean drinking. I was one of the fans that liked this storyline, and felt it had lots of potential, but the writers seem to be missing the potential this season, and I still haven't truly felt for Dean yet after 8 episodes.   Supernatural is a great show because of the brothers and their conflicts and problems and the writing, how it makes us feel. When Dean told Sam about his Hell and when Sam killed Madison,my heart tore, because it was written so well. That's what Supernatural is famous for, the emotion, and without that, Supernatural is just awesome, but with no HEART! Every season, the story started from the beginning, and there were always some fillers, but by episode 8, we were well into the story arc. So far, Dean's story arc hasn't gotten much anywhere, he's only confessed to Sam what we already thought of, and even then, is he really getting anywhere in his arc? For Sam, we've gotten episodes 1 and 2, but then we have nothing. I am completely patient, and I can wait, but so far Season 7 has just been awesome episodes that I've really enjoyed, just no heart...

I enjoyed this episode, but I'm confused when people say we need light episodes after so many dark ones. To me, only episode 1 and 2, and the ending of 3, were dark, everything else seems light as no brother is showing their full hurt. It also doesn't help that we're not getting the dark lighting that we always have. In the motel Sam and Becky had this episode, the lighting and flowers looked exactly like the ones from Changing Channels, when Sam and Dean had to act. That isn't right, it doesn't sit well with me. I love Supernatural, but this Season, something was missing, and I think this is it. Next episode seems awesome, just like every other episode this season in my opinion, but again, where is Sam and Dean's actual colliding storylines?

  182. I agree that it’s frustrating to have to fill the holes
ourselves, with only a small possibility that any theory is what the writers had in
mind. I have to mentally fill for myself in “how” Becky even located Sam after
2+ years … and devoting 15 -30 seconds several times during the episode and
shaving this time from non-essential scenes to answer these questions
would have made the episode more satisfying.

    ReplyDelete
  183. I agree! The opening was very clever.

    ReplyDelete
  184. That's right. Forgot about ole Evelyn. Could you imagine hunting, capturing AND bleeding one without Tom Stark's help?

    ReplyDelete
  185.  I agree with just about everything you have said especially the lack of HEART.
    .
That for me has always been the important thing in the show, the strong and tortured relationship between the brothers.
In the early seasons there was always something going on in the episodes that made us laugh or cry at their problems.
There was a more subtle drama portrayed that played with one's emotions, even although most of them were stand alone episodes too, like season 7.

Many have been complaining about the brothers being too close and that it would be more "grown-up" if they were less co-dependent on each other but that's all wrong.

Take that away, as they seem to be doing in this season, and we are left with the average non-ispiring  horror based series with two normal investigators who happen to be brothers!

Canon made these brothers something special, destined to cause the Apocalypse and personally tailored to be meat-suits for no less than the Archangel Michael and Lucifer himself, and to become potential soul-mates in Heaven,  and now what do they become--- two normal guys???

I agree about the lighting too. The lighting in the early seasons was perfect for illustrating the eerieness of the series.
Normal lighting is not suitable for this show, which is supposed to take place in a shadowy world.

  186. It was explained during the ep, that they come to Vegas every year and it was in the books that Becky devoured and that was how she found Sam.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I hated the Schizoid Fan Stereotype Overuse, as usually hated Becky, and the consent issue for me was just ugh. Then again when Sam got pissy with Becky, contradictorily I wanted to smack him, huh.

Anyhoo, the rest of it : I'm-newly-happy-why-can't-you-accept-it-Sam and WTF???!Dean were kind of hilarious, so was Gareth/Garth(??) the Hunter and scruffy looking Crowley.

  190. ^^; I agree with you that it's long between the reactions....unless its happening between scenes, that would be sad not seeing it :(

we saw somewhere that the post-Hell wasn't over. But yeah there's no guarantee it will be in the mid-season or that it will be more than a scene or too, for that we'll need to wait and see before complaining about how big of a part it play and the quality

    ReplyDelete
  191. "we saw somewhere that the post-Hell wasn't over. But yeah there's no
guarantee it will be in the mid-season or that it will be more than a
scene or too, for that we'll need to wait and see before complaining
about how big of a part it play and the quality" On the one hand, I agree the final assessment on that story will come after everything is said and done.  But on the other, we first saw at least part of Sam emerge from Hell in Swan Song, and we've had 29 episodes since then. Enough time has passed to have an opinion on the quality of storytelling.  To use another example, you don't have to wait until a series finale before forming an opinion on the quality of a show.  I'm not complaining about the storyline of the second half of this season yet.  I'm expressing disappointment in the pattern of postponements and the lack of depth we've seen in the telling of Sam's story over the past 29 episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  192. Maybe. That was Dean's speculation on how Becky found Sam and it is probable.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Thought it was good episode. Didn't enjoy Becky as much this time round (I quite liked her in earlier eps) but I thought Garth was pretty good - wouldn't mind seeing him again. Crowley appearance was a bonus - love that he's keeping the demons out of the way so the Winchesters can deal with the Leviathans.
