I have a strange relationship with The Middle. If I watch a dozen episodes in a row, I think it's hilarious. Trying to watch it week to week is less good for me laughing. It's a VERY distinct kind of humour that takes me some time to adapt to, especially when compared to all of the other comedies on ABC (and NBC). I'm used to fast-paced zingers (Cougar Town, Happy Endings, Community) and the awkwardness of mockumentaries (Parks & Rec, Modern Family). It also definitely has something to do with Blue Collar Problems vs. the First World Problems being solved on the rest of ABC Wednesday, but I haven't quite figured out a way to express that without being accidentally offensive. We should have more blue collar comedies. I think that's my thesis and/or conclusion. Jump in and save me if you can XD.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
It was great! I loved it.
