Thought they did a great job with the make-up, those deaths were pretty nasty. The plot wasn't anything special, but I'm intrigued to see what else happens this season.
:) that's, its official, I'm onboard for this serie! The pilot was ok...episode 2 too, enjoyable and all...but just 'ok' since I thought it was slow, lot of talking and barely 3-4 minutes toward the end to resolve everything
In this episode I loved how the characters are...I don't know how to say it...'serching/working' all episode long, the episode building up for the whole hour and not just the last minutes and more action, moving more too. I can't wait to see who's coming and why, who was ''bad'' and who was ''good'' between the two creatures at the end :)
Only thing I'm sad is the time this show is playing :( Why put every shows of the same genre at the same hour? In the long term they may just take each other viewers :(
This opening quote did not sound familiar to me so I Googled it. I guess it's from a 1955 Joan Crawford movie called Queen Bee.
Oddly there is a Grimm fairy tale called The Queen Bee about three brothers who are questing knights. The 2 older want to kill or eat everything creature they come along, the youngest stops them from doing harm to the creatures each time. Finally when they reach their destination and are given tasks to perform, the two older brothers fail, but the younger brother is aided by the creatures he had saved earlier and accomplishes every task given to him thus saving the realm.
Will miss Hexen beast attorney now come to Nick's aide at his time of need later on like in the Grimm fairy tale? I kinda doubt it, but I guess we will see.
This week had more humor from everyone and the 2 lead detectives are growing on me little by little each week. They still aren't exactly fun, but they're showing more personality as they get into the role. I think I'm in for the duration with this series. It is more episocid in nature, but there is jsut enough mytharc connecting the plots to keep me interested. Still not going to say it's the best new series of the year, but dark, different and fun!
Best ep of the series so far for me and the story was pretty engaging with the tidbits of the mystery mythology to get the interest going. The characters still are in dire need of personality (except for the much welcome levity of Monroe). Interesting take that the lead was caught in the middle and unfortunately had to take down a possible ally to protect an assumed enemy who had him between a rock and a hard place with the rules....
I'm mostly liking the show, but still don't feel sold on it: love the basis, and will stick with, but I'm just not getting a connection with anyone. And the girlfriend gives me the creeps for no other reason than she's too perky. Do love the sidekick!!!
Were his one time early warning system and allies getting a little innocentpayback for killing their Queen? Was it more than innocent spite-fueled payback and a warning the ha've turned against him?
I like the idea of other "supernaturals" on the side of "good". It makes it feel more real tome than every generation one is chosen....
Give the lady a break, she is trying to stay positive for the both of them, Nick did just lose his last family member and has killed two "people" in three out of two episodes. The first one being his first kill ever.
Ok I am enjoying Grimm but at the same time I want to watch Fringe...I know I can Tivo one but I want them both to do good with ratings. OK so I am still trying to figure out the deal withthe Hexsen beast lady, she has me intrigued.
I'm really glad that they don't have Nick spending the bulk of his time trying to keep Hank in the dark. Or, at least, they did a good job with the balance of the public case and the hidden case in this episode.
I did like the cat and mouse game once they got the blond woman and Nick and Hank (really I cannot remember anyone's name here..I'm always looking them up. I think that says something.) in the same room. Unfortunately, when Nick and the Blond Woman were along the ep hit one of my pet peeves. I hate it when they have characters talk around something the writers don't want the audience to know yet. If they'd made it clear that she had a reason not to tell Peter 'what was really going on' it wouldn't have been so annoying, but as it was it felt mostly like she didn't come out and say what she was referring to was for our benefit and not Peter's.
Then we have the scene where the Queen, who has this warning message she must deliver to Nick and Nick is standing there in front of her. Well, honestly, if I have a message someone doesn't want me to deliver...I'm going to freaking pass the message first. I'll just start talking and you'll have to jump me or shoot me to shut my mouth. I'm not going to waste my time explaining what the big conspiracy is first.
"I need to tell you a guy named Frank Baluga is out to kill you!" THEN I'll start sharing my creds. At the very least if I don't survive the encounter I'll have done my job and your little antennae will be up when you meet Frank Baluga (forgive the ridiculous made up name it was the first thing that came to my mind. :-D)
The arc story is becoming more interesting. But, its these things that keep this show from getting top marks from me.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
And just like the real world bees, Mellifers are helpful creatures.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what that sing meant.
