No big surprise that it was cancelled. I thought it had potential to be a hit before it aired, but I never truly could get into it after watching 3 episodes so I quit.
KristinDSantos write on twitter:From ABC re: #PanAm: "Nothing has changed. We are not cancelling Pan Am. We are still in production and will continue to be in production......finishing the original 13 episodes plus one more additional one. We have one more original episode this coming week, Dec. 4......and then will return in January with new episodes, airing all of them. Pan Am is still in contention for next season."
I haven't seen the show yet, but it seems good (it certainly has plenty of potential), so my first reaction was to be saddened by this news, until I realized it's not 100% official.
You can't say it's officially cancelled when ABC immediately replies "Still very much in contention for pickup" and when Sony is saying "Still kicking". Sure, season 1 will end after 14 episodes, the last one airing 5 months before the end of the 2011-2012 season, but that doesn't mean there's no chance for the show to get a second season. It's a long shot though, and it will be a very long shot if Pan Am's replacement, Good Christian Bitches (sorry, Belles), is a success. If GCB is a flop (despite seeming perfectly compatible with Desperate Housewives), then Pan Am's chances to fly again will be real.
But "official" should be ABC's press release, not a tweet. Official is what ABC said after this, "Nothing has changed, we are not cancelling Pan Am. [...] Pan Am is still in contention for next season. We won't know about that until our upfront announcement in May."
Oh, yeah, there's no doubt about that. I am perfectly aware that ABC's comment is just typical network PR bullshit, and they could send a press release saying it is cancelled as early as next day. I presume they aren't just because they want to see if Good Christian Belles, Missing, Scandal and The River are going to tank.
I'm just a bit anal when it comes to media and headlines, kinda alergic to misleading ones. Didn't mean anything bad.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I just started watching Pam An a few days ago, and I have really been enjoying it. :(
ReplyDeleteNo surprise, but still makes me sad. I liked the show.
ReplyDeleteLOL, good thing I never watched an episode of this
ReplyDeletewell, it's expected .. still it was one of the shows I genuinely enjoyed.. loved the actors too & I hope to see them in other shows...
ReplyDeleteSaw it coming
ReplyDeleteI was really starting to like the show but can't say I am surprised. Oh well. :/
ReplyDeleteNo big surprise that it was cancelled.

ReplyDeleteShame

Sorry to be a bitch guys, but "officially" doesn't mean "an actor tweeted."
ReplyDeletewell ofc they won't confirm it now with still more new episodes to come
ReplyDeleteWell "The Call" the actor talks about would have been from ABC so that's official enough for me :)
ReplyDeleteThat sucks. After some warming up I really started to like the show.

Well, now the 3XK will come back.

ReplyDeleteOk, I've changed the title. But trust me, Pan Am is cancelled wether Officially of Unofficially it's dead.
ReplyDeleteIf anything good is to come of Pan Am, it's that it shows casting directors that Karine Vanasse needs a regular TV gig.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Whenever a network says a show is "still in contention for next season" after not getting a back nine pick-up, the show is NEVER renewed.

Ha no worries :) Always good to keep us honest :)
ReplyDeleteCall me a fool, and I am, but I still have hope for Pan Am Season 2. It's dead, I know, don't remind me, but still, one can hope.
ReplyDeleteto soon to rally for a new LOST show?
ReplyDeleteCant say im not surprised.
ReplyDeleteI watched the first few episodes but really couldn't get excited over it.
ReplyDeleteCan't say that announcement is a huge surprise. It wasn't my think at all, but I am sorry for everyone that liked it though.
ReplyDeleteLove this show... sad =(
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. No surprised or bereft at the news.
ReplyDeleteLike it. :) Could never really see past the killer with that actor anyway.
ReplyDeleteOne of the writers commented saying this wasn't true...
ReplyDeleteAnd promos to these shows in many countries fail to say there will be a limited number of episodes only.
