Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Charisma Carpenter has been cast in a recurring role on ABC Family's The Lying Game, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
The series stars Alexandra Chando as separated-at-birth twins Sutton and Emma, who swap places unbeknownst to their friends and family. Carpenter will play Rebecca "Annie" Sewell, the estranged sister of Phyllis Chamberlain (Sydney Barrosse) and aunt of Sutton/Emma's best friend, Char (Kirsten Prout). Rebecca's return to town after many years brings back old memories — and secrets — that Alec Rybak (Adrian Padsar) and Ted Mercer (Andy Buckley) would like to keep in the past.
Carpenter, who recently appeared on an episode of Supernatural, begins her arc in the show's midseason premiere, which is slated to air in early January.

Yay for Charisma! Glad she's getting a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteHmm... so she is "Annie" but not Annie Hobbs?
ReplyDeleteI guess we met the real Annie anyway but recasts happen....
That seems like a waste to me. Charisma is similar enough to the "twins" in appearance and about the right age too. I guess at least she won't be portraying yet another trophy wife! XD
Yay, I love Charisma.
ReplyDeleteI was concerned about the show adding this new character but now, not so much. I'm glad this show is attracting some higher-profile talent. Now if it can attract some higher ratings, we'd be all set.
ReplyDeleteI like Carpenter but I don't think she could pull of the mental patient stuff that the role requires. I think they did a decent job of casting the mom. I'm guessing Carpenter's role is more catty, which she's better suited to.
ReplyDeleteI'm not happy about this casting news. :(
ReplyDeleteI really hope this series will attract more viewers once it's put behind PLL (as it should've been all along), but I don't see it lasting if it continues with the same ratings it had during summer. Hopefully bringing Charisma on will bring some extra viewers (Buffy/Angel fans). I have to say that I'd prefer Charisma having her own show, though, far more than bland SMG.
