Hell on Wheels and The Walking Dead - Ratings News - 7th November 2011

Nov 7, 2011

Hell on Wheels had 4.4 million viewers Sunday night. The post-Civil War drama had a fairly strong 2.4 million in the adult demo — that’s particularly good news since Westerns tend to draw an older crowd.

The success is tempered somewhat by the fact Wheels had an even bigger lead in from The Walking Dead (6.3 million), but that’s sort of a weak complaint — Your big TV show rating wasn’t as big as your other big TV show rating. This is actually the first time AMC has been able to use its highest rated show to fuel another series. The Walking Dead has some positive news too — the zombie drama rose for the first time this second season, going up slightly

  1. Need to build momentum.  Whacking the boss was a good start.

  3. It went up slightly?
How slightly? I need the numbers. O.o

Good for Hell on Wheels. I think that's just below the Walking Dead's pilot premiere... Unless I'm mistaken.

  5. I really have not seen a lot of series like Hell on Wheels.
Deadwood was on HBO, but it was more graphic, violent and profane. Still one of the best series ever on TV.There are a few great Western mini-series though.  Lonesome Dove (and it's sequels of varying  quality)Into the WestBroken Trail

If you meant The Walking Dead, then I don't think there has been any TV series like it before. There are many great to good zombie movies out there though.

  6. I'm talking about the pilot's 18-49 ratings. I remember it being around 2.6-3.0 or something last year.

  7. oh Okay it scored a 2.7 A18-49 Raing on October 31, 2010 its pilot episode which equaled to 3.6 A18-49 Viewers and scored 5.3 million viewers

  8. OH yes, I remember the 2.7. So, Hell on Wheels (which premiered an hour later than TWD if I'm correct) is down .3 compared to the (Hyped, and huge success) of TWD.

Could go uphill...could crash. I suppose we'll see.

  9. I did not think I would like Hell on Wheels, not into westerns, but loved it and of course Walking Dead, another excellent ep.

  10. It's about what I expected. TWD helped Hell on Wheels a lot and it will definitely get a second season renewal, there's no doubt about it for me now.
