So far, this show is a nice, additional, end-of-the-week distraction. I'll be very interested to scan the ratings tomorrow to see how many other people feel the same.
I don't think it was the best genre series I have seen in years or anything, but I thought it was set up nicely in the pilot.
One caveat though..... I read today that despite appearing to have somewhat of an overarching story, it will be mostly episodic in nature. The part about a group out to kill the Grimms and who is after Aunt Marie etc was a large part of the interest for me.
I imagine they'll sprinkle in the serialized subplots about as often as Person of Interest does and I can understand why. Launching a completely serialized show on a broadcast network on a Friday is the steepest of uphill battles (I'm looking at you, Fringe). Keeping Grimm relatively procedural increases the chances of viewers coming back if they miss an episode or two and may keep the viewership more stable. It's a hard pill to swallow but it might help keep the show on the air.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Hard to tell for certain from the preview and some clips, but it really looks like they added more humor in this episode. Good news to me!
