ReplyDeleteI hope I'm not the only one who votes for Vanessa. They were very underrated but I think they made a very good couple, it's just that a lot of things came between them.

ReplyDeleteOh, you mean that teacher he screwed literally and figuratively and both times because of Serena. He was upset so he did her and he dumped her because she tried to hurt S. lol
ReplyDeleteYeah. That was a definitely a low point for Dan but seeing him make such unbelievably stupid decisions was fun to watch.

ReplyDeleteVanessa, actually. I was never a huge fan of her character (the writers handled her so badly) but I liked them together before he started treating her badly.

ReplyDeleteBLair. They're funny, they challenge each other. Dan and Blair are the most intellectual people on this show and their connection is undeniable. Their friendships is flawless and so would a relationship based on it be.

ReplyDeleteI think for Dan it would be Blair, because she is the only one (or at least the only female one) on the show he can have an intellectual banter with. But ironically, i can't picture Blair being together with someone else as Chuck for a longer period of time.
ReplyDeleteI really don't agree when some say that Blair should be with Dan because they are both intelectuals. I am sorry but first, they are not the only intelectuals characters in the show. It was just the writers trying to force a connection between them. Vanessa was also an intellectual and I think Chuck is too. There were mentions of Chuck and Blair going to plays in s3, also Chuck mentions movies and books references too. In 5x01 he made a Shakespeare reference. I am pretty sure Chuck would be able to satisfy Blair in her intellectual needs too. Second, I would say that if being intellectual matters that much, then Vanessa would be the best option for Dan.

ReplyDeleteDan is not too good for anyone, people tend to think of him as the good samaritan, but he does make mistakes, he does some pretty bad stuff. And that's the cool thing, a character that is all black or all white is not even interesting. Everybody as every character has good and bad inside them, Dan does have a dark side and when i see his dark side is when i can see his true self, his true heart. I can connect with a character when i see his scars, it's when we can realize he's "human" afterall.
ReplyDeleteEven superheroes made their bad decisions. What upseat me about Dan is that fans thinks he's a saint when it's clearly not true. I love in 5x04 when he told Serena Dylan Hunter was a judgmental dick and he turns out the worst of them all and ends up alone. One of the bests Dan's moments in the whole show.

ReplyDeleteyes, of course he does some things wrong! I don't see him as a perfect guy who always do good things! that kind of characters annoys me! but the fact is that when he realizes he is doing it wrong, most of the times, he tries to fix what he did...

ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think Dan deserves to be alone because he doesn't seem to have grasped what it means to love someone. But Vanessa is the girl who was most true to him and loved him for SO LONG, so I would have loved to see her get her happy ending with him.

ReplyDeleteHm, i don't think so. He does know the thing he did was wrong, he not always try to fix it, but most of the times he does know it's not right. But Dan had a childhood completly different from the UES kids, the UES kids grow up watching their parents blackmail, lying, their parents didn't care about them, and there's Dan that had a dad like Rufus. A present father, the type that is always there with their kids, giving advices, helping with their homework, his family was very united.
ReplyDeleteBut the UES kids didn't had this, so i think Dan looks like 'the good guy' because he was raised to be this kinda of guy, his dad and his mom had to work hard so he'll have a better future, this plays a big part on Dan's personality.
Jenny was influenced by the UES, probably more than Dan because, quoting Mean Girls, she lives in the 'girl world'. But Dan was also influenced in a big way and we can see more of it this season.

ReplyDeleteDidn't he break up with her because she stooped to Blair's tactics? Rachel's actions had more of an impact on Blair than it did directly Serena.
ReplyDeleteChuck is more of an intellectual in my opinon. Dan is just a writer. They're not the same thing and one does not automatically make you the other.
ReplyDeleteI believe wit is actually a very good indication of intelligence and Chuck is, hands down, the wittiest character on the show (with Blair following as a close second). I've picked up more clever one liners and literary references from Chuck than I have any other characer over the past four years. Not to mention the scheming...I believe Chuck and Blair are always the masterminds besides the elaborate plans/take-downs on the show (and I believe the Georgina vs. Poppy Lifton one was all Chuck).
Oh, and let's not forget that the boy has been running a multi-million dollar corporation and several franchises from the age of seventeen. I can't speak for Blair, because obviously, she's fictional, but I can tell you that *I* find Chuck a million times more intellectually stimulating than I've ever found Dan.
I though they are like unicorns or something.. Is unbelievable their existence until now (sorry for Danessa fans, no offense).
ReplyDeleteWhat i'm trying to say is that Dan was raised on a different way, on a more "light" environment and that is a influence, but you said Dan was too 'good' for those girls and i don't agree with that. Every character has their flaws and their good points. And people who like Dan tend to put him on a pedestal, like he's so good for the UES people.

Running a corporation does not make one an intellectual. That's called being a businessman. Dan has been written and painted as an intellectual from day 1. He is well read, like art, and artsy films. He likes to talk about politics. What intellectual thing has Chuck ever done other than make crass sexual jokes and play dress up with Blair.

ReplyDeletewith Vannessa, so much chemistry. it doesnt even compare with others. This is coming from a casual GG viewer, used to watch some of the ealier seasons, not so much now. I know Serena is supposed to be the main LI for Dan, they are cute together, but she doesn't seem suited for Dan. feel they are mismatched.
