Blate was cute while it lasted. To quote Blair Waldorf, they were just "on paper". Chuck and Blair may seem to have an unhealthy, crazy relationship, but to quote the great BW once again, sometimes the best loves are the crazy ones. And heck, fate keeps pulling them back in. That is surely a sign. And Dair fans, Blate fans (its funny to see they're still some around!), Blouis fans (population: 2...maybe not even); you have to admit you feel the chemistry and intensiveness. It's always gonna be there, no matter who they love. They are magnetic and will always attract back to each other.

ReplyDeleteIt's strange for Dan to be in this poll, cause he's not and has never been a love interest for Blair. Altought Blair is clearly a love interest for Dan. But i really don't think Blair is quite there yet, for him. I read some people saying they were exes, but nothing really happened there... i'm not saying it will never happen, but to say the truth, yeah, it never DID happen.
ReplyDeleteIt's a one-sided crush, she does not corresponds it. Blair is a type of character that loves with all her heart, even when it's wrong (like with Chuck in season one) she can't hide her feelings. So i don't think she's in denial, i don't think she loves him.
As i said, we don't know what the future holds, i'm just saying how i see from what is happening right now on the show.

ReplyDeleteI know what you are trying to say, but you are forgetting about one important thing. Blair loves her denial. I think everybody remembers how long it took her to admit her feelings to Chuck. And now, she may like a Serena's ex-bf (big inferiority complex is still here), a pauper-material, while she's marrying the prince, and don't forget about Chuck, who thinks only he can accept all the sides of Blair, which isn't true, because we know now (after 5x02 and 5x03) that Dan can too.
ReplyDeleteWhy did Blair stay in bed for a week after 4x17 kiss? Why did Blair was disappointed after Dan said the kiss meant nothing? Why Blair was imagining the kiss scene from Dan's book? And what's more, she says to Serena that the book is fiction. She thinks she doesn't stand a chance next to Serena and moreover she prefers to live in her fairy-tale.
I think there's still a long way to go before Blair admits anything, but I truly belive this storyline will take an interesting turn soon. I think they can end up being happy together, or like their characters from school play did, Archer and Ellen, a big and beautiful love with a really bad timing.

I think Dan was over Serena when Blair and he told Serena that their kiss was staged... Serena went angry with them and what did Dan do? He left. He didn't care what Serena thought, he didn't try to say to Serena again and again it was staged. So I don't think Dan is pathetic or he's screwing up any chance... he doesn't want any chance, he's not even thinking about it!

The ratings became half during season 3 and part 1 of season 4, where chair was the main couple ! If Chair start dating again I dont think any person with common sense will continue the show..
I don't know what polls you're talking about, but I highly doubt it's true that DB won them. Nor are these polls (almost all of which CB have won) a true representation of the fanbase.
ReplyDeleteChuck and Blair have been TV gold for many years, and I don't think you're the purveyor of all common sense everywhere. We can all throw around "facts" and insults at each other all we want, but the fact of the matter is that the fans of of GG are tired and angry. GG only has at most 1.5 seasons left and, more likely, will be canceled at the end of season 5. It simply makes me the most sense to end it with the couples and friendships that have had the most build-up.

Sweetie, no one feels threatened- CB as endgame isn't disputable. I just don't want to be bored to death or grossed out in the meantime. If DB were "TV gold", GG wouldn't keep setting new lows for viewership. Ratings were actually increasing during the first half of S4 until they pulled that crap. There's just no way to argue that they've been anything but bad for the show. I'm mostly worried the show will get cancelled and they'll just throw CB back together in like two episodes, instead of giving them the rebuild they deserve.

Season three ratings slid week by week in teh first half where Dan and NYU was featured, when Chuck and Blair came back on and after episode 17 ratings increased. They took their biggest nose-dive during the Dair arc in season 4. Go to black adn white facts over there (you know factual numbers) instead of making up your delusions.
You're just pissed off because you know Blair and Chuck will end up together. Get a life and face facts already.

Yep. Go check out Television Without Pity's forums where most of the Chair supporters accounts were created in the last few months to give the impression their fanbase is a lot bigger than it is. Hacking polls, spamming boards and comment sections. Anything to drown out any real debate in GG fandom.

I actually post there, and I'm always down for "real debate". The reason CB fans avoided TWOP for the last year and a half wasn't because they were few in number, but rather because it became so nasty and hateful towards them. Most of them needed encouragement to post at all, which has what's happened over the last few months. If anything, that forum gave the impression the DB fanbase was bigger than it was, simply by bullying everyone else off it.

However, if you can't accept that your opinion is not actually the majority, and dismissing the honest opinions of other fans as "spamming" makes you feel better, then... have at it.

I'm not creating multiple accounts to flood message boards to give the impression that my fanbase is a lot bigger than it is. I don't use a number of different twitters in order to threaten and cajole Gossip Girl writers. Nor do I go on any board that gives me tips on how to do any of those things.
Now as a Chair fan, can you say the same? Or can you honestly tell me that you don't realize that a significant amount of your ship's fanbase is doing everything they can to shout everyone else down?
I'd find that a lot more believable if any of those accounts were created before April 2011. Instead, virtually all were created in the last few months or days. And those accounts only post on the Gossip Girl board.

We've been pushing people for months to post on message boards like TWOP just to get their opinions out there, instead of retreating from all the negativity. The reason they've been resistant for so long is because of people like you, and I'm not sure why you're so proud of that. ReplyDeleteBesides the fact that I don't believe most of these accounts are on the up-and-up? It's because these accounts don't add anything to the discussions about Gossip Girl. A standard post from any of these accounts could be summarized as, "yada, Ed Westwick's so dreamy, yada." And a response to that post from another one of these accounts is, "I agree. Ed Westwick is so dreamy because..." They don't engage. There's no back-and-forth. It's twenty or so posts agreeing with each other about how awesome Chuck is and how the entire show sucks when he isn't on the screen. They don't serve a purpose other than to drive away non-Chair fans. And if it was two or three acounts I could handle it, but it's a complete flooding of the boards until to stop other people's enjoyment of the show.

Chair fans won't engage and non-Chair fans aren't swimming through twenty pages of crap to get to one good comment. The Chair fan MO right now is to tear down any enjoyment of the show as long as their side "wins."
And getting past all that, let me ask you a question. If Chair is the ultimate, destined, greatest OTP ever, why do you feel the need to organize a campaign to scare away fans from another board?

ReplyDeleteSeriously, stop trying to play the victim here. Nobody's trying to "scare" anyone off any board- we're simply voicing our opinions, which conflict with yours. Most GG boards have become ridiculously one-sided and therefore not representative of the fandom as a whole, which is exactly what happened to TWOP. And off-topic and baiting posts about why Chuck is so abusive and Chair is terrible get ignored for a reason- it's pretty much impossible to respond to them without breaking the forum rules. The entire point of the campaign was to keep Chair fans engaged in the show and participating in online communities, instead of being silenced or quitting entirely. Endgame is great and all, but it hardly matters if none of us are still watching when it happens.

ReplyDeleteIt annoys me that the producers of Gossip Girl seem to think it's necessary to put together EVERY single possible pairing of the cast. Dan and Blair do have a really great dynamic - it's quirky, funny, and unique. However, I prefer them as friends. Chuck and Blair are the real thing, I've been rooting for them ever since the first season and I'll never stop. Besides, there are spoilers on here all the time telling fans not to lose hope on Chair because they'll end up together in the end and that they're like the "Ross and Rachel" of Gossip Girl. ReplyDeleteThey had a real kiss last year. We saw Chuck and Blair in one episode in 1.07 and they became the best pair and people passionately wanted them together, DB had a whole arc last season and only 30% want them and 70% still want CB. Go figure.

Chair were hot from the start but Dair hated each other and I think every gg fan would have winced at the thought of them together now FIVE YEARS later there are a significant number of fans that are rooting for these unlikely characters an they haven't even gotten together. Since DB have interacted so much they still haven't come near to that reaction nor can they even overtake CB now. Look at the poll for proof on that. People still want Chuck and Blair, even after DB kissing. People didn't feel that way about CB after they kissed in the limo. They wanted them, not NB anymore.

All I said was that I think it is impressive how far the Dair thing has come. I NEVER SAID THAT DAIR WAS BETTER THAN CHAIR
I never said that the dair kiss was "hotter" than chair's first kiss and I never insinuated that Dair had a more passionate fan base than Chair.
I think stating that Dair has come a long way is a fairly objective fact. You can't deny it. Chair has come a long way too, but I wasn't comparing the two.
This is part of the reason I hate fan wars. Because everyone always tries to believe the worst in other ships. Its like can't we all just get along?
What you have to understand is that Chuck is, indeed, growing up. He's the character that had the most significant growth this season so far. He's helpful, he's understanding that he have some issues that need to be worked, he's fighting for Blair's happiness, he is fighting for Dan and for now, it look likes he's the only one there for Dan (really, besides Blair, Serena, Nate, the only character that is acting like a real FRIEND for Dan is Chuck).
ReplyDeleteWe know little about Rufus/Lily previous relationship, but it's obvious it didn't worked out because they were both immature, but times pass by, people grow up, and Lily and Rufus both had grow up to the point where they could be happy and safe together.
I think this is what will happen to Chuck and Blair, the writers are leading us to that way, every episode this season they drop a little hint, by actions and by words.
When you said "Why did Blair stay in bed for a week after 4x17 kiss? Why did Blair was disappointed after Dan said the kiss meant nothing? Why Blair was imagining the kiss scene from Dan's book? And what's more, she says to Serena that the book is fiction"
After the 4x17 kiss Blair stayed in bed because she realized she wanted to be with Chuck, it had nothing to do with the kiss and it's said on the episode. I'm not guessing, it was actually said. Dan was REALLY disappointed when Blair said the kiss meant nothing, not Blair. And she was imagining the kiss as every character imagine what they were reading. So Lily was imagining Nate/Eric kissing a guy ? And Serena was imagining her being a total slut ? It was the writers way to show us what the character was reading, if they don't imagine, how would the hell we know what was happening ? We would only see a take with the character reactions and we would be like "Wait ? What ? What did happened ? o-o"
And other thing i might add that is bad for the chair/dair/nair(?) shippers, is that Blair is in this engagement not for the fairytale. She's not in denial because of her fairytale, she's not in denial when we come to this point. She told Chuck her fairytale was complicated, she knows she's in a difficult relationship but she stick with it. I think she truly cares and loves Louis (what is bad for everyone, because ... really, who can stand Louis ? I'm praying for him to find himself gay and go back to Monaco or something)
I don't know if Blair will think twice after what Chuck will say to her in 5x06, we'll have to wait for 5x07 that according to the writers is a big episode and there are several romantic twists. I don't know the twists are only the 'Nate-Diana-Charlie-Max' thing or the kiss Blair will receive will change something... we'll have to wait and see.
Actually no. Chair always wins public and unbiased polls.Of course you would bring up cheating. If Dair fans are good at anything, it is making excuses.

Both of those polls has less than 1000 people voting. The first one has less than 200.
I didn't even IMDB did polls or had a forum. That is just the place that I go to look up movies.
