Former Jedi Knight Ewan McGregor has signed on to HBO’s The Corrections.
The premium network’s adaptation of the acclaimed Jonathan Frazen novel about a dysfunctional Midwestern family has already cast Chris Cooper and Diane Wiest as the family’s parents, with McGregor playing their second child Chip.
This mark’s McGregor’s first regular role in a TV show (he appeared in a stand-out episode of ER back in the day). The Corrections is still only at the pilot stage, but it’s tough to see a cast this strong on a property this well known just sitting on the sidelines.

Quite the cast!
ReplyDeleteI will check this out for those three named actors alone!
Sounds good!
ReplyDeleteI`ll definetly give it a chance... Ewan MacGregor is great!
ReplyDeleteSounds good!
ReplyDeleteGreat! Who doesn't like dysfunctional family's?
ReplyDeletePretty sure this is a lock for a series pick-up with that cast.
ReplyDeleteHBO, actually, since they passed on The Wonderful Maladys 2 years ago. It was described as a dysfunctionnal family drama from Alan Taylor, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nathan Corddry and Molly Parker. At the time I was quite pissed HBO didn't order a series since I very much liked the cast, especially because there was SMG.
ReplyDeleteI'm confident HBO will order a series for The Corrections. They had the Fisher (Six Feet Under, 2001-2005), they had the Henrickson (Big Love, 2006-2011), maybe they'll have the Lambert (2012 - ?). It seems impossible not to greenlight a show starring Chris Cooper and Ewan McGregor, they're two fantastic actors, but let's remember Tilda (inspired by Nikkie Finke's life), a year ago : the pilot starred Diane Keaton opposite Ellen Page (that's your star power right there) and yet, HBO decided they didn't want a series with these two actresses after all. So let's be cautious.
There you go bursting my bubble,ha,yes i'm sure they missed out on some quality shows, lets see how this one works out. :P
ReplyDeleteEwan? AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, totally forgot about that. Was quite surprised that they passed on that one. I guess even big cast names don't guarantee a series pickup at HBO.
ReplyDeleteWow great news! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHBO and Ewan MacGregor = fantastic! I´ll be sure to watch.
ReplyDeleteIf Ewan's involved I'll totally watch...
ReplyDeleteGood cast, might have to try it if it gets past the pilot stage.
