Alcatraz - Production Paused for Reshoots

Nov 3, 2011

Fox’s midseason drama Alcatraz has put filming new episodes on hold to do reshoots on some of the 7 completed episodes. The series will stay in production, doing additional principal photography on previous episodes before proceeding with filming the remaining 6 episodes of the series’ 13-episode order. The J.J. Abrams-produced Alcatraz is an ambitious time-travel drama, and since the show is not on a tight delivery schedule, the producers opted to slow down and make improvements on some of the finished episodes. The reshoots are expected to last 1-2 weeks.

  1. I am hoping this show will be a good one.  Re-shoots shouldn't be seen as a bad thing, if they have time to make things better then that has to be for the best... and yet whenever I read about re-shoots it fills me with dread!

  2. Well I love JJ Abrams, so I have my fingers crossed for this one. Not a positive sign though.

  3. Actually, I think it is. Every show makes mistakes, as they're all on a very tight schedule. This one has the luxury of going back and correcting previous mistakes. For now, anyway.

  4. I think it's great they have an option of going back to fix mistakes / add content. As long as it's not network meddling, but producer's choice, of course.

  5. Agreed, having extra time to polish or tidy up a plot line further along in the show before it's even aired is a good thing in my book :D

  6. Time travel shows are almost never good, but I am willing to see this with an open mind.

  7. By all accounts the pilot was mediocre.... Let's hope these reshoots tighten up the subsequent episodes and end up being a positive thing in the end!

  8. I just need this to be fantastic not just average so maybe the reshoots will make that happen

  9. "Reshoots" aren't necessarily a big deal, unlike "retooling" which is what is happening to NBC's Awake.

  10. Agreed 100%. I was going to post something along your lines, so no need to now :)

  11. I'm looking forward to this so hopefully the reshoots are just to perfect scenes and not a major problem.
