Thanks to DarthLocke for the heads up.
Jennifer Johnson and Daniel Pyne have been tapped to co-run Fox's midseason drama.
A big change is taking place behind the scenes at Fox's midseason drama Alcatraz.
Co-creator Liz Sarnoff, who was serving as an executive producer and showrunner of the ambitious series, is stepping down from her post. Instead, Cold Case and Chase executive producer Jennifer Johnson and Miami Vice and Fracture writer Daniel Pyne have been tapped to take over day-to-day showrunning duties.
Sarnoff (Lost, Deadwood) is expected to receive the title of executive consultant on Alcatraz.

That doesn't sound good. Hope it isn't a bad sign!
ReplyDeleteI hope it doesn't really hurt the show. I was looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteYikes, I always get worried when I hear things like that. Am looking forward to Alcatraz, so I hope it's not a bad sign as well.
ReplyDeleteI hope don't screw up the show.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... reshoots, new showrunners (from such classics as Cold Case and Miami Vice) and delays.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a winner.
Hmmm, I wonder if the re-shoots are changing the tone of the show and she disagrees? Doesn't mean it's a bad thing necessarily I guess, just that she wanted a different outcome.
ReplyDeleteI really want this to be a great show, it sounds right up my street :( lol
I'm concerned too, especially since they are reshooting episodes...I can only hope that she doesn't want to responsible for having answer to the fans. At least she is still a consultant and at least Jack Bender is still a director.
ReplyDeleteI never had a good feeling about this series despite the creative team.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's better than I expect and that these pre-air 'problems' turn out to be blessings in the end.....
Jennifer Johnoson worked on lost season 1 and wrote "The Moth" and "Whatever the Case May Be", so maybe it's good news :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like they have so many problems yet on this show...
ReplyDeleteThis was actually the first show she was showrunning. It could just mean she got overwhelmed by all the work. Same thing happened to Damon Lindelof on Lost. It's the reason Carlton Cuse was brought on as co-showrunner.
ReplyDeleteHope this isn't a bad omen. Looking forward to this.
ReplyDeleteBringing in a couple of people who ran procedurals? I wonder if that was due to network influence?
ReplyDeleteI'm officially starting to worry about the show. Is this the show that had to stop production for re-filming? Or am I confused?
ReplyDeleteNo, you're not confused. Alcatraz briefly held up production on new episodes for reshoots:

Thanks, the combination of these two situations seems to imply a possibility that there's creative problem going on. If it's a network problem that could be just as bad (especially after what happened with Firefly) Both possibilities are sad to hear for a show I'm so looking forward to. I have my finger crossed.
ReplyDeleteAlot of changes for the show preair... hope all the changes are for the better
ReplyDeleteI just hope that this isn't a bad omen for the show. It hasn't even premiered yet
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't sound good at all, especially with the history of NBC's Chase.... I can only hope for the best
ReplyDeleteWell, that's not completely bad news. I thought she was gone altogether.
