ROCK BAND MY MORNING JACKET PERFORMS — On the night of the Homecoming dance, Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt) opens up to Elena (Nina Dobrev) about why the evening is so important to her, leaving Elena with conflicting emotions. Caroline (Candice Accola) and Matt (Zach Roerig) are both shocked at Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) behavior throughout the evening. The night takes a surreal turn when Klaus (Joseph Morgan) puts his latest plan into action. Determined to outsmart Klaus, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) enters into a dangerous partnership, leading to a terrifying turn of events. The band My Morning Jacket performs in the party scenes. Paul Wesley and Kat Graham also star.

The episode was directed by Joshua Butler and written by Evan Bleiweiss.

  1. I don't get what the writers are trying to do with the Rebekah character.

She starts off seeming halfway normal, albeit a little snooty, then she turns into a hypocritical, vindictive brat when she finds out Stefan loves someone else.  Last episode, she spent the entire hour being just as much of an irrational psycho as her brother, now she's opening up and sharing her intimate feelings with the person she's supposedly jealous of?  What the hell, Vampire Diaries?  This character is the textbook definition of inconsistent. (not to mention substandard writing)

  2. im guessing the partnership with Damon is Mikael

  3. I'm very curious to see back to school tomorrow (amusing because I've been back to school for 6 weeks).  I like how it says Paul Wesley also stars, he's a main character of course he's in the episode, they couldn't throw in a super vague "Stefan's (Paul Wesley) presence in Mystic Falls continues to have consequences"

  4. I'm curious to see how the writers flesh this seemingly inconsistent (Rebekah buddying up to Elena?) ep is going to go. They've been pretty good so far, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt - just don't let us down

  5. I don't see Rebekah confining in anyone let alone Elena.. anyways, it'll be interesting what are those "terrifying turn of events"

  6. Isn't being inconsistent a major part of Rebekah's character? "Nic" has described her as unpredictable and kind of crazy from the get-go. And that's exactly how she behaves. Jealous, bratty, impulsive. So I really don't see any contradictions in the writing there. We also don't know what goes down between her and Elena in the next few episodes that makes her open up to her. Besides "opening up" doesn't necessarily mean she'll be crying on Elena's shoulder. She might just as well be yelling at her while half-choking her to death. haha. I for one can't wait to se her stir up things in Mystic Falls.

  7. I bet Damon partners up with Mikael! Can`t wait to see more of Tyler and Caroline as well!

  8. I love it when Damon deides to get in Klaus' face. Ah, happy times.

  9. Unless shes putting on an act, Klaus even said she has a bit of a temper, so she might just be pretending to help Elena, but instead shes really just evil. But I love where you said irritating phycho about Klaus lol its so true.

  10. Yea its funny though, everytime Klaus goes to kill Damon someone or something stops him and he gets pissed off, I think its hilarious.

  11. Definitely think Mikael. Elijah is not "dangerous" to Damon unless Damon stupidly tries to attack him again. Mikael is the unpredictable element, since we have no idea who he is or whose side he is really on. And it seems just like Damon to try something as stupid as team up with the vampire who hunts vampires.

  12. Yes, and even the nutty ones have some kind of motivations behind their behaviour. I look forward to getting to know Bex - and the other Originals like Daddy and Mummy. I'm still betting that Mikael is Original Daddy. Regarding Bex, I also think she was friends with the witch who cursed Klaus which would be an interesting turn of events.

  13. I know. What struck me as particularly funny was the look on possessed-Alaric's face at the decade dance when Damon said Klaus didn't impress him. They hadn't even met, and Damon was pissing Klaus off. Well played scene that one.

  14. well, he is back on set as of 3.08 so it's not a long shot.

  15. I'm trying not to get my hopes up that it'll be a flashback to his human days or something. :)

  16. We shouldn't forget that this episode is still far away... it is only episode 6 tomorrow, which means that before we get to see episode 9, a lot can happen!! They sure love their twists and so far the writers have come up with good storylines to keep us entertained, so even though right now I/we don't see Rebekah opening up to Elena, I'm pretty sure that by episode 9 it doesn't seem so weird.

  17. Yeah in 3.08 only flasbacks. But we don't know what happens after 3.08 :)

  18. I can't believe they still have parties and school dances, carnivals and parades.
Don't they ever learn? It always ends with a bloodbath and corpses everywhere.

  19. Oh! I wan't to this episode.

  20. Flashbacks have only been confirmed. But I'm still hoping for him returning in present too.

  21. Though Bruce said irrational I agree that he is irritating! A lot of people have family issues but they don't go around making people be their friends/family! Klaus is just a lonely guy who never got attention as a child because his mother cheated. It's been 1000 years, get over it!

  22. I'm pretty sure Rebekah will tell Elena that she's never actually had a homecoming before and that's why it's so important to her. Loving the sound of this episode!

  23. they need to pull that dagger out of elijah

  24. It's not weird because Rebekah is going to open herself to Elena. As we all have seen, Rebekah has already said No to Claus once. And he put the dagger in her chest. So maybe she just want to be on Elena side until they kill the Claus, but definitely she wont give up on Stefan that easily. She is a trickster, playing her own game. When it comes to Stefan, maybe Lexis ghost is going to help him :-). It sounds like Demon to make a deal with Michael. This episode is definitely going to be interesting.

  25. What it means by that is that he, along with Kat Graham, will appear in the episode, unlike the actor of Alaric...

  26. I was just kidding lol these descriptions never tell you anything =P. Also I bet Alaric will be there since they are at school he will probably be 'chaperoning' aka excuse to be in on the plan against Klaus.
