"No, Stefan. It makes me strong."
—Elena
It's the first episode in Mystic Falls without Klaus and for the most part it was pretty entertaining and actually pretty funny. But I'm so far past the high school aspect of this show, that when it pops up onscreen I get a bit annoyed. I don't care about the Spirit Squad and I don't care to watch Caroline skipping around while she and Bonnie make ironic remarks about their supernatural boyfriends — especially not for Bonnie, because as we've seen with this ghost storyline time and time again, Anna is just so much better. Jeremy can't tell he's thinking about Anna whenever he's talking to Bonnie, and neither do I, but when she pops up you're like: oh, yeah, that's why I was thinking about her. Because she's awesome. And she's not really doing much other than pretend-touching Jeremy and telling him Vicki is "dark."
Which is a storyline, by the way, that I believe has paid off in spades, especially now. We all knew Vicki was up to no good, turns out she wanted to kill Elena (no one mention that they can just turn her into a vampire, no one!) but it eventually backfires on her during a use-Bonnie-to-get-us-out-of-this-corner-we're-stuck-in gag the writers like to do a lot while Matt understates his delivery of being mad (and sad) that Vicki was out for blood… but whatever. At least it means that Anna's presence will be heightened. Now if only there was a way to actually bring her into the physical world, hm…

I was bored by the high school stuff 2 years ago! XD
ReplyDeleteI loathe when the dead come back.
That's why I stopped watching SPN and if it continues it will put me off TVD too. In a series based around danger and life or death situations, death HAS to mean something and be permanent! Otherwise it turns into a video game with multiple lives.
"You just killed an original (or demon/angel), you have gained another life" and then some music plays....
Well we finally have confirmation how much time has passed on the show.
ReplyDeleteGenre shows do resurrect characters.I am happy they found way to bring Malese Jow back.
Caroline Is starting to get annoying to me.They squernded the great opportunity when they turned her Into a vampire. She acts too much like she Is normal.
Sebastian Roché is playing a vampire who hunts vampire i guessed he dint drink human blood i was sure he drank vampire blood but he was deff more powerfull on supernatural as a Angel but the question is how can a vampire who is no where near as old as Klaus who is now both wearwolf and vampire a hybrid i like this episode it was pretty good but i still think when they do the episode where the show you how the originals became vampires i think it will be the rest of the originals to kill klaus since his is both now michael wont be able to kill him
ReplyDeleteok. so how did rebecca enter damon and stephen's house (technically elena's house) without being invited in?
ReplyDeleteBecause it's not Elenas house anymore. And it's Stefan, not Stephen :)
ReplyDeleteAnd it's not Elenas house because she died in 2.21.
ReplyDeleteYes! I don't like it one bit. Now whenever someone dies, I'll just be thinking: oh, but they're going to come back as a ghost right? Same thing happened on The Secret Circle, but whatever.
ReplyDeleteShe went from out of control to normal in, like, an episode. They could have done that much better... or at least, more fun. But I think she's much less annoying than season one. In season one, I was hoping she actually would die.
ReplyDeleteAs for the timeline, I think you could have guessed it a bit, especially considering Elena's birthday and summer and all that.
I think he actually MIGHT be as old as Klaus. The actual spelling of his name is Mikael (just like Rebe*K*ah and *K*laus). Someone suggested to me he could be the father of the Originals.
ReplyDeleteIt could be that she died, but if I remember correctly I believe Klaus was able to get inside the house in the same episode that Elena signed the deed. But that was Klaus as Alaric… Klaus as himself probably did it, too? I don't remember. I chalk that up to she's an Original.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a neat twist if he is thier father
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alexander, it's because Elena died that vamps can come in the house. I don't believe Klaus ever actually went inside the Salvatore house, he was in Alaric. However there are a lot of inconsistancies with the house invite stuff because when Elijah was brought back in the Salvatore/Elena's house, he couldn't breathe. When Klaus was put back in his body at Rick's he was fine. Was Katherine invited into the apartment? I'm gonna say Alaric had to invite her in..but then when was Elijah invited? Or Stefan? Also they haven't established if Stefan can come into Elena's house or not, technically her house is a free zone because Jenna, Elena and Jeremy who could have owned the house all died. We are too obsessed!
ReplyDeleteGreat review! The episode was written by Julie Plec (creator/show runner) and another writer. I like how 'drunk' Elena reminded me of Katherine. They had some parallels to the premiere, Stefan and Elena meeting after she leaves the boys bathroom was funny. I'm looking forward to the ghost thing next week but they can't keep that up because it does make death not that important. Are the ghosts all coming after Elena? Then Stefan will be kept busy for a while, no time to play twister and the such (which was amusing). Next week's promo looks good!
ReplyDeleteI saw that after I wrote the review. It was pretty funny. For shows like Chuck, I usually look at who wrote it to know what type of episode I'm about to watch, but idk if Julie Plec episodes are usually this funny because it has never occurred to me to check.
ReplyDeleteSeriously the death thing is an issue. And I don't think they're all coming for Elena, just Vicki since she made the deal.
