The Vampire Diaries - Daniel Gillies to return

7 Oct 2011

Daniel Gillies will be returning as Elijah in episode 308, tentatively titled "Ordinary People."
He won't be back in the present day quite yet, though -- our next glimpse of Elijah will be in Rebekah's (Claire Holt) flashbacks. This time we're going way, way back in time - a thousand years back in time - to the Original family's life before they were vampires.

  5. The flashback thing was inevitable.  I'd like modern day Elijah back so he can make up for being a backstabbing jackass.

  6. Backstabbing jackass... couldn't have said it better myself :P

  7. I'm sorry, how did he backstab people? Was it not his intention to kill Klaus all along? Did he ever lie? How dare he value his family more than a bunch of backstabbing bitches - remember that time that they killed him, twice?!!! If anyone should atone on the show, it should be those Salvatore brothers who kill on whim!

  8. I LOVE Elijah !!!!! I hope he'll get his revenge on Klaus!

  9. And I'm happy too to hear about his return even through flashbacks.. he's such a great character & I really wanna see him kill Klaus sometime in this season..

  10. Totally agree! People think it's so ~heroic when Stefan saves Damon or vice versa but it's immediately backstabbing if someone else wants to save their family.

  11. You can't blame Stefan or Damon for Elijah's actions.  Elijah gave his word that he would finish Klaus because it was the right thing to do and he betrayed everyone.  Not just the Salvatores but, more importantly, Elena.  Elena trusted Elijah when no one else did and he betrayed her most of all.

Elijah knew how dangerous and unpredictable Klaus was and he also knew what he had done to the rest of the Original family.  That's why he promised on his honor to get rid of Klaus.  He didn't go through with it and now Elena is still in danger and Elijah is in a coffin with a dagger in his chest because Klaus betrayed his family AGAIN.

  12. Sorry but when did I blame Elijah's actions on the brothers? I said I don't care that he "betrayed" because as far as I am concerned, he never owed them anything to begin with after THEY betrayed him. Furthermore, it was NOT a betrayal because he did not lie about his intentions. He had every intention of killing Klaus and hesitated ONLY because of his family. So he should "honour" his word to backstabbing bitches over saving his family? Please.

Elena trusted Elijah. Yeah, and he trusted her but that didn't stop her from killing him so... Excuse me if I don't care.

As for my last point, that was in response to you saying Elijah needs to atone for his "betrayal" because in my book the Salvatores have done FAR worse things that Elijah has done on the show and to them. Like Damon raping Caroline and Andie and using them as sex toys. Or basically, Damon being Damon and killing his buddy for just not agreeing with him. Or Stefan, the Rippah, killing Andie just to give Damon a message. Or hey, what about his killing spree against humans to save his douchebag brother?

  13. See, there you go talking about the Salvatores again.

"in my book the Salvatores have done FAR worse things that Elijah has done on the show and to them."

That's exactly my point.  You're excusing Elijah's behavior by citing the Salvatore's behavior, which makes no sense.

Everyone is responsible for their own behavior, regardless of the actions of others.

  14. See, I took this to mean glad he's coming back to "redeem" himself (aka, help kill Klaus).
The reasoning behind why he didn't is both easy to understand, and completely human.

    ReplyDelete
  15. No.

I'm saying that if people should atone for their actions (which was what YOU said), then start with the WORST people.

I never excused Elijah's actions on the Salvatores. Because I think he owes them NOTHING! In fact, that you choose to interpret it that way amuses me.

    ReplyDelete
  16. And therein lies the implication that Elijah wronged them by choosing to save his family over helping people who killed him thrice.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Of course. Because everyone should worship the brothers or they're wrong.

  18. "I'm saying that if people should atone for their actions (which was what YOU said), then start with the WORST people."

An atonement hierarchy doesn't work.  Storytelling doesn't work on a ranking system.  Daniel Gillies isn't a series regular like the others.  They don't have access to him every week.

  19. "An atonement hierarchy doesn't work.  Storytelling doesn't work on a ranking system"

Ehm. Why? Because people would like, not get it like, if "really bad people" atoned for their actions like, before the "less bad people" did? That's like, news to me.

"Daniel Gillies isn't a series regular like the others. They don't have access to him every week."

Okay. And Stefan and Damon ARE regulars so they have plenty of screen time and therefore time to atone for their actions. Still waiting.

In fact, they are the leads of the show and I'm still wondering why exactly I'm supposed to like/root for them seeing as one brother is a rapist-murderer and the other is a serial-killer. Huh. I guess, for me the ABSENCE of an "atonement hierarchy" might actually be the reason for why I hate both male leads. I guess I'm just weird like that, you know, wanted the protagonists whom are the worst people on the show to atone for their actions before they get to make bug-eyes at their love interest. I have this silly notion that sh*tty people should not be rewarded with love. Even on TV.

If that is still a big issue for you going into the third season of a show, why are you still watching?

  21. LMAO. I love how you reduce the entire show and cast to just the two brothers.

    A+

  22. Looking forward to this but I really want to see modern day Elijah come back. Stefan was so close to pulling the dagger out!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Eh. I wouldn't equate what Damon did to Caroline and Andie as rape. Mind-fucking? Sure. But he never forced them to have sex with him. They were attracted to him, had sex with him of their own free will. He did use them for sex (though I believe he did have some sort of feeling for Andie, but that doesn't excuse it, no) and mind-fucked their heads into forgetting the fact that he was a vampire and that he drank off them (and other things relating to what he is), but he never forced them to have sex with him.

At least that's how I saw it. Am I wrong on that point? I never really knew how that worked.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mind-fucking people? That's like the ultimate roofie. He took away their ability to say no - how is that not rape?

Why is it so hard for people to understand that even if you say "yes", you're allowed to change your mind to "no" and you are sure as hell allowed to say "no" subsequently if you discover that your fling is a blood-sucking monster!

HOW DO YOU KNOW HE DIDN'T FORCE THEM? Could they say "no"?!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jesus. Calm down; I was simply wondering if my perception of this was correct, unsure of how this was handled on the show (I haven't watched all of the episodes and thought that some of the ones I've missed may have explained this).

Your rage amuses me. But otherwise, I mostly agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well.
    A) The show is watched by a lot of impressionable young girls
    B) I can't really fathom why there's still an IF about whether or not non-consensual sex is rape or not
    C) I'm glad you find me amusing. The feeling is mutual.

  27. Look who decided not to rape the Caps Lock key this time. A for effort, sunshine.

Your overly aggressive, chip-on-the-shoulder attitude is cute, however. Would you like to hold hands now? How about I hold my hand flush to the screen and you do the same on your end?

Poor baby. All that vitriol over a TV show. No young girl would ever think a guy forcing themselves on them would be okay because of a TV show. There are way more outside factors involved in those issues. You’re overreacting because of your dislike for fictional characters. Sad, really.

  30. LOL. Did I hurt your feelings, sweetheart? It's okay, you can leave a reply with a name next time (sorry, make that the fourth time), I promise not to bite ;)

  31. i've been lurking around this site but never once felt compelled to make an account until i read your own special brand of stupidity. so let's start.

    a. WAAAAAAAAAAH. grow up, kid. it's the environment around them that shapes their choices in life. not a goddamned tv show.

    b. wow. you fail to comprehend something as simple as the difference between fact and opinion. the show has no facts so far to back up your claim that he makes them have sex with him, plain and simple. there are no FACTS. there are things you can twist to back up your opinion, but no facts. do i have to repeat that for you again? it's really very simple. you can whine and bitch and have a fit over it but in the end it only shows your belligerence (which will get you banned from the party) and your ignorance (which, while not getting you banned, makes you look like an asshole).

    c. i don't find you amusing or clever. i don't know why others do. at all. repeating the same thing back to someone else is rather the opposite of clever, actually. "NO U!!43$#%#HGHF#$!@" is basically what you just wrote to that other person.
also, elijah's a little bitch.also i'm not going to bother with you after this because it's obvious from how you've treated the others here that you are nothing more than a belligerent freak with anger issues. period? sexually frustrated? middle-aged cow? i don't know the reason but something is clearly off with you. no normal person gets this angry over tv with complete strangers. guess mommy failed in that department with you. belligerence=/=intelligence.while i'm not going to read your reply, you’ll be reading my response to you. i'm certain of that.

  32. Honey, are you really lecturing me on belligerent behaviour? Because the irony is killing me. You need not behave like you're above checking for my response. You posted that "little" rant of yours to get one after all.

  33. Don't forget the killing spree Stefan is on, just to save Damon, and Elena. Yes, Stefan is killing for a so call noble cause. He's doing this because Klaus saved Damon's life, and to protect Elena. However his victim are still dead.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I know. I called Stefan a serial-killer earlier. And I think Stefan is  very creepy in the way he loses control and actually tear people's limbs apart. But the worst thing is probably how they have Elena completely ignore both brothers' crimes.

    ReplyDelete
  35. This is the dumbest argument ever. if all you can think is damon raping women(caroline and andie)  then your stupid this the vampire diaries not the raping diaries. and why would he want to rape them he basically used them for their blood and pretened to be in love with them. okay in season 1 he just used caroline but in season 2 andie was a distraction from elena yes he is a murderer but he's not human in the show and if he didnt kill anyone then he wouldnt be damon the bad boy we all no him to be. and caroline fell for him he only compelled her after they slept together. and they dont show damon and andie in sex scenes so how coulkd he have raped her and this is a pg13 show they would not let rape be included in the series. an dwhen ever did damon in any sort of way force them to sleep with him he only used his good looks and charm. vampires have to be good actors

  36. I think Elijah's more inquesative question would be of Stefan on Klaus's side, i would figure Klaus's deciet would have been assumed by Elijah, hence the hault in killing him when elijah had the chance. Can't wait :)
