Maybe he's in a rank between Reapers (Like Tessa) and Death. Like, the Boss Reaper or seomthing, or the first one. Anyway, sounds interesting, we'll have to wait and see.
Interesting but I do agree with bluehex and geordiegirl1967 . How will this be different from the established Death and Reapers? Hopefully there will be an interesting twist.
It's also kind of weird that the character is actually named "reaper". Maybe they just are casting a reaper that they didn't name? I don't get how the frim reaper would be different from a regular reaper.
Maybe the character isn't a reaper as we have now in Supernatural, maybe they run into something that's like a traditional version of a reaper, with the black robes and the cowl and the scythe?
Maybe he is a totally different character than a "true" reaper. You can't kill Death (or Reapers without Death's sickle), but maybe this guy is like a Tulpa version of Death, so many people believe in it so it exists... We have had Werewolves with fur because of a shape shifter. Maybe we are going to have a grim reaper with the black hood and big scythe. Just guessing.
Yup, maybe he was the stand-in boss for Death while he was bound and unavailable on Earth? I mean, that's assuming Death was in fact 600 ft under ground or whatever Bobby said when he was first brought up.
Adding to the mythology of the show is NOT backtracking. Nor is it "ret-conning". I always read people make the same mistake of thinking of the creative process as some static feature. When anyone creates a project like Supernatural it is natural to add, or even eliminate parts of the story as it fits the need of the 2 main characters. Not ripping on you, just clarifying.
Maybe reapers have ranks like the military - you know, Death is the commander in chief, Tessa was a foot soldier, and Reaper will be a general or something.
Or maybe he's not actually a reaper - maybe he's a shape-shifter or some other monster who's taking on the well-known and feared form of the grim reaper to kill. Like the shifter in "Monster Movie" who thought he was a vampire LOL. Oh, that episode... Calling oneself "Reaper" sounds like sort of the douchy thing a poser would do LOL.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Huh? How is he different from all the other reapers like Tessa. And how is he different to Death? V confusing.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's different from Death how? And all the Reapers we've seen so far?
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to watch and find out :)
ReplyDeleteIt's just that their constant backtracking and retconning their own canon gets annoying after a while.
ReplyDeleteYep, if we get any more info we'll be sure to post.

ReplyDeletehmm interesting to see how he's different from Tessa or Death
ReplyDeleteInteresting but I do agree with bluehex and geordiegirl1967 . How will this be different from the established Death and Reapers? Hopefully there will be an interesting twist.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he/she is simply grimmer than Tessa LOL Though it'd be difficult to be more somber and sullen than she was.
ReplyDeleteI agree with pretty much everyone when I say this makes little sense.
ReplyDeleteIt's also kind of weird that the character is actually named "reaper". Maybe they just are casting a reaper that they didn't name? I don't get how the frim reaper would be different from a regular reaper.
ReplyDeleteI think you could be on to something, maybe they are waiting to see who they cast, male or female?

ReplyDeleteThis would be super interesting~

ReplyDeleteYou know, this character may actually be a Hunter. I would not jump to conclusions until the episode actually airs.
ReplyDeleteA hunter who's a grim reaper?
ReplyDeleteYah...that makes sense....*blank face*

Or Maybe George, Rube, mason, Roxy, and Daisy will be showing up! God, can you imagine Mason hanging out with Dean? LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat does "retconning" mean? Second time I've read that word on the site today.
ReplyDeletea hunter who's nickname is grim reaper...
ReplyDeleteMaybe the reaper is someone they once knew. Like Jo.
ReplyDeleteIt has been said that Jo will make an appearance this season. Maybe she or a dead friend is now a reaper.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the difference between Death, his reapsers, and the Grim Reaper?
ReplyDeleteSupernatural will earn a few bonus points with me if they hire Ray Wise for the role.
ReplyDeletelol Why don't you watch the episode before you complain about stuff that hasn't even happened yet?
ReplyDeleteGreat! Another reaper episode that will give me the creeps!
ReplyDeleteMaybe. It is a good theory though :)
