Awesome!
ReplyDeleteWait.. what?!?!
ReplyDeleteWow they are coming out once a week now... HUZZAH!
Yup. That's the plan. We pretty much have a schedule locked down now so we can get it out every we'd/thurs
ReplyDeleteCool!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely can be more timely if it is a regular weekly thing....
Now I just have to find 3 more hours to watch this.... XD
I mainly listened to yout Walking Dead segment and would like to add that this current zombie popularity hasn't been blowing up just in the last 5 years. There has always been a constantly big fan base ever since zombies have seen the light of day. You just need to think of the success and the following movies like Dawn of the Dead (I'm talking about the 78 original and not the shitty 04 remake) had. I have a lot of friends that are into horror and zombie movies and when I told them last year about an upcoming zombie TV show they were all extremely excited for it and most of them loved it.
ReplyDeleteBesides that it's a well-written show, the acting is decent and that adds another layer for people who aren't just watching for the zombies. Apart from that there was no real horror TV show airing right now before TWD (Wilson once said Supernatural was there before, but I can't really comment on that, have seen maybe 20 minutes of SPN), so AMC entered a niche segment that was not really a niche, but turned to be really big. So I guess all of these things combined are responsible for the huge success.
And if you guys ever need some TWD info for the podcast from someone who knows the comics, feel free to send me your questions - stickoxydal@spoilertv.com
Cheers for the offer. We'll deffo take you up on that offer :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Maybe we should have you come on the podcast...
ReplyDeleteBTW, I know zombies have been a popular genre, but they have had their own "space", but now maybe because of new media they seem to have become more main stream and popular.
I have never been a fan of the horror or zombie genre, BUT I just watched the first 3 episodes of S1 and I loved it. Very well written and good acting...I am on board and can't wait to catch up with the other episodes. :)
The original Dawn of the Dead made my top 10 of all time. And I'm talking all genres. Great effects, great dialogue and a great concept.
ReplyDeleteI always felt 28 Days Later rejuvenated the genre and then in a couple years Shaun of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead came out and solidified the re-birth of zombie movies.
ReplyDelete"I'm COMM-INGGuh!"
ReplyDeleteOmg I just lost my lunch!
ROFL sorry about that Wilson...I owe you a lunch mate! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff as usual!
ReplyDeleteFinally got around to listening this morning as I watched futball..
Great Podcast :)
