what do you mean ABC is not NBC? if you're talking about the original Charlie's Angels, it aired on ABC. But I do agree, it's not looking good which is a shame.
Charlie's Angels is soon to be dead. I see ABC giving it a few more weeks, max. Definitely NOT a hit. Having seen POI's numbers, I can't see what Marc Berman was talking about. It's older skewing but it's overall numbers aren't poor. But ABC is in trouble on Thursday nights. Grey's is fading fast and so is Private Practice. At this rate, neither will survive the season.
Shows with low ratings have better chances at NBC due to the fact that the network has been in a ratings-crisis for the last couple of years with several failed shows, while ABC has better ratings (making it much easier to pull the plug on a show that has mediocre/low ratings).
Dang. Baseball really choked network viewing last night.
Person Of Interest is holding it's own, which is good to see. The CW took another hit across the board, but their Thursday shows always bounce back. How To Be A Gentleman is already on life support and someone sign a DNR for Charlie's Angels because it's a goner.
I think the best ABC can do for Charlie's Angels fans at this point, is to air reruns of the original series, instead of this boring remake. I tried to like it, I really did.
Grey's is still fine. It's not what it used to be but it's in no danger. Private Practice, however, has had mediocre to bad ratings for almost two seasons now. ABC needs a younger skewing show that holds onto more of the Grey's lead-in.
I don't think Grey's is necessarily safe. It's only likely to get worse from here based on previous seasons. With it's two leads likely leaving at the end of the season, ABC may just decide to put the series out of it's misery in May rather than let it die in Season 9, which it will. Grey's only pulling 8.5 mil isn't really a good thing, especially this early in the season.
Total viewers mean little. It's the demo rating that matters to advertisers and Grey's still brings in a 3.0 and above for each episode, which means it's still the network's most successful scripted drama and it's the most attractive to advertisers.
It doesn't need to be put out of it's misery. It's one of the few dramas keeping the network afloat. The only issue that the network will eventually have with this show is the payroll when it comes time to renew some of the actors' contracts.
agree. and of the non-originals/new regulars in the large cast the writers haven't done enough to build up the characters. Only Sara Ramirez, Jessica Capshaw and Chyler Leigh have been developed properly for staying power. The other newbies are weak and ineffectual. Negotiation with the originals will be hard, especially to keep the wage bill down.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Not looking good for Charlie's Angels...ABC is not NBC, after all.
ReplyDeleteI see it surviving...its in a place where really it could survive...maybe move it to Friday!

ReplyDeletecharlies angels could be the next show to go and greys anatomy and private practice ratings are falling, they might not make next fall
ReplyDeletedon't think it would survive on a friday especially against supernatural and fringe
ReplyDeleteThe Mentalist did much better this week with a 10PM win at 2.7! BTW, the final numbers were 13.15 in total viewers ;)
