1/ Luck (Michael Mann directing + David Milch writing Dustin Hoffman starring + horse racing = awesome). 2/ House of Lies (Don Cheadle is cool, Kristen Bell is awesome, there's Jean Ralphio and the synopsis is fun). 3/ Awake (fantastic potential in this show, I have good faith it will be the best new drama on network TV).
Awake and The River are my current top 2. Then Touch then Alcatraz. I'll also check out Good Christian Belles, Apartment 23, and Bent (with my low excitement for those four descending in that order).
Awake and Smash, with Touch and The River close runner ups. I want to say Alcatraz and/or Hell on Wheels, but the critics haven't seem too keen on them :(. Anyway, Awake looks fantastic (great concept/actors) and Smash is a lot of things I had hoped Glee would be (serious drama about actual broadway folk). Also, it has Jack Davenport, so, yay :D.
I have very little interest in horse racing (it was the same with Lights Out and boxing), but I'll check it out after the full season airs. Otherwise, maybe not necessarily in the same order as you, I agree with everything else on your list! Awake, Touch, Smash, Alcatraz, The 2-2, Apartment 23 especially. I just with The 2-2 had been kept "Rookies". I get that there's a show called Rookie Blue, still. It isn't even that I have an issue with it sounding like a ballet-related dress... It's just much less informative a title. Don't know anything about Magic City.
I spend too much time reading critic opinions before watching shows... So my opinions are tainted by that :(. I want to be excited about Alcatraz, but have heard bad things. I'm also hesitant about Hell on Wheels based on the interviews I've read with the apparently semi-coherent showrunners.
I try not to put much credence in reviews as a rule, but sometimes the things they point out are things I cannot escape noticing once I have read about them.. ie plot flaws, bad acting, silly storylines etc.
Generally I make up my own mind without real influence, but if a pet peeve of mine is highlighted, I cannot ignore it when I watch.
Alcatraz and The River are the highest on my list. I'm interesting to see Awake. From the trailer I saw it looks well acted and well written, but I think it might require too much from the audience for huge numbers.
Ironically Missing on ABC is another series missing from the list. XD
It's must check out TV for me considering it had Ashley Judd and Sean Bean! http://spoilertv.co.uk/images/albums/pilot-shows/Missing/Cast%20Promotional%20Photos/Missing%20s1%20Cast%20001.jpg
I think Luck is going to be epic (no pun intented). I don't really care for horse racing either but I wasn't a fan of (american) football and it didn't stop me from enjoying Friday Night Lights a lot, there was more to it than just US football : a convincing cast, a very human writing, a distinctive, appropriate directing - I have little interest in the game in general but nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes in game in FNL, they're pretty catchy. I think the same thing is going to happen with Luck.
As for 2-2, I didn't realize that before ^^. They still have time to change the title since the show won't air until March, I think. And here's a teaser for Magic City : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2pI7jixax4
Apartment 23 for now. I used to be excited about more of them, but I've got a short attention span I suppose and things will probably change once the shows actually start up.
Alcatraz and Awake, but since I have enough time only to follow two or three different shows (and I'm already following The Walking Dead and Person of Interest) it will be a tough call if both of them are good :))
Question,is anyone else having a problem checking the boxes? I was only able to check off two boxes, when i tried checking off the third box it wouldn't except it.This is not the first time this has happened to me,is there a limit on the amount of shows you want to vote on?...Btw,this also happened to me on the question posted today, about Tweet accounts. 10/30/11
Forgot about The Firm too. For such a weakly promoted series it sure has some heavy hitters in the cast! Josh Lucas, Juliette Lewis, Callum Keith Renne, Molly Parker and Tricia Helfer (recurring). That's a very strong cast of actors! I'm not a fan of legal dramas usually, but I think I will be checking this one out.
I forgot to add House Of Lies, and The Firm also Hell on Wheels,Alcatraz, and The River. There is a show with Ashley Judd, can not remember name of it,but that to,
I'm most looking forward to (Don't Trust The Bitch In) Apartment 23 and Luck. Luck especially. I don't think I've ever been this interested in a show with so many old people in it.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteAfter that The River and Alcatraz both intrigue me, but have not impressed me really.
Awake, and House of Lies.
ReplyDeleteAlso: Alcatraz, The River, and possibly Touch.
Dark you need to add Luck to the list.

ReplyDeleteAlcatraz (just about anything coming from JJ Abrams and company is enough to get me to watch) and Awake.
ReplyDeleteTouch because of Kiefer! And Alcatraz because of Lost!
ReplyDeleteBaff I just saw a few articles stating that BBC America co-produced The Fades and it will air on BBC America in January 2012.
ReplyDeleteIronically Missing on ABC is another series missing from the list. XD

Alcatraz and Awake !
ReplyDelete"Alcatraz and "Awake"... Point !
ReplyDeleteLuck and Awake.
ReplyDeleteAlso, would've voted Hell on Wheels and Touch.
Alcatraz and Awake
ReplyDeleteJust The River. I've heard good things on this site about it. No longer interested in Alcatraz or Smash after seeing promo clips that left me cold.
ReplyDeleteAlcatraz and The River (Luck would have been my third choice if I was able to choose 3)
ReplyDeleteDang, Papa John Winchester in Magic City and I don't get Starz.
ReplyDeleteThe Fades is my kind of show, love the supernatural stuff.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading up on most of these, I went with "Alcatraz," though none of them sound worth the airtime it takes to show them.
ReplyDeleteAlcatraz and Awake (The River as an honorable mention).
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add House Of Lies, and The Firm also Hell on Wheels,Alcatraz, and The River. There is a show with Ashley Judd, can not remember name of it,but that to,
