  1. Loved it! One of my favorite episodes. I laughed so hard. Hardcore ship Maggie/Don. Aww at them! And poor boys when they kept getting thrown around! And the bees!

AND TELL YOUR BROTHER THE TRUTH, DEAN.

  2. :D This episode was SSOO funny, finally a lightly episode without big end of the world over their head or whatever, just an epsiode to catch our breath before another big mythology one

Ididnt think I would love it but i did :DDD And love the ending. I know i know... secrets blablabla but for some reason this one doesnt bother me its not really a lie (well it is but..) sams KONWS it and he knows its something dean feels bad about. I dont know why but it doenst anoy me haha. It doesnt tear them apart like they were s4-s5 so im good.

  4. Didn't love it, in fact it didn't do much for me at all. It had the ewww factor which I like but I found the rest frankly boring. The whole thing felt just flat.

  5. Didn't really like it at all. Maybe because I didn't watch Buffy, but I just didn't like those two. But that wasn't my real problem. My issue is with the major plot hole. They keep building up this whole thing with Dean killing whats-her-face because she killed once so she'll do it again. And that she is a monster and there is no shade of grey here. But now they left Don and Maggie live? They have killed once so won't they do it again? There is no shade of grey. I was in the group that hated the storyline when they introduced it, but if you are going to go with it.. take it all the way. There is no shade of grey here either.

  6. So, Dean killed Amy, but let the witches go? Why, exactly?
Anyways, it was a great episode otherwise. It was nice to have a fun episode after four pretty heavy ones.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Good point. What happened to that logic Dean? They both killed, why are they still alive?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I thought it was funny and freakishly gory - the plot has some nice twists - I really didn't guess that Don was a witch too. I loved every second except for at the end when Dean didn't tell Sam AGAIN!

    ReplyDelete
  9. ^^; agree...but I think we have to stop thinking too much or take everything 'too seriously', it wasn't a big central episode, it was just a stand-alone to laugh and have some fun after big ones and before another big one next week

    ReplyDelete
  10. They tried to kill Don and Maggie and it didn't work.

  11. Umm I don't think they had the stuff to kill the witches at that time.  Besides, it would be cool if they brought them back.  Plus I love the fact that James Marsters' character saved them at the end.  It was a great episode.  Loved the seeing James and Charisma again.  Plus the build up to the Leviathans was cool.  It would seem that they can be hurt at least.  I laughing when Sam came in from running or whatever he was doing, thinking of the outtake that Jared put out there.  That was too funny.

  12. I get too easily excited by mild episodes about them just doing regular old hunts especially now with the all that's up in the air at the moment (Levithian, Cas...) but it was satisfying none the less. I hid behind a pillow when I realized what they intended to do to Wendy in the hair dryer-thing. Thank God they didn't emphasize her injuries (*eww)

I guess it was funny, well it had it's moments. Not as excited as I want to be about it for some reason, I'll just have to watch it over. A bit confused about next week's ep but I guess I'll google around, re-watch the clip and look for spoilers :D

    ReplyDelete
  13. I was wondering about the whole leaving Don and Maggie alive thing too since they seemed pretty darn powerful and a bit of threat but I'm guessing it worked out in the end when Don helped them out by killing that one guy smh.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Great episode. Maggie and Don were well done. I loved that they were both witches and had been together for centuries. The fact that they were ancient and powerful made it all the more acceptable that Don could stop a Leviathon. Can the boys just bottle whatever they've got? :)

Dean, Dean, Dean.... what are we gonna do with you? Unfortunately, Sam saying 'they're good' is having the opposite effect intended. Dean's afraid that if he does 'unload' Sam would be pissed and then their long awaited 'good' would turn once again to bad. I can understand his dilemma -- which is probably not helping the guilt at all. Cas, Amy, Sam... the Lindberg baby. :) Dean feels responsible for everything -- but at least he acknowledges it as his problem so that, to me, is a first step. Now to just figure out how to let it out (without bouts of rage and alcohol) instead of shoving it all down deep. At least he's a functioning alcoholic.

Sam didn't hear a voice or anything this ep. Does that seem a little easy to anyone else? I know they were focusing on Dean's problems this ep, but a little whisper would've helped continuity. I'm glad to see him taking care of himself, tho. Maybe that's his first step to mental health.

All in all, this ep was much better paced than the last two. The writing was exceptional and the case worked in seamlessly with the brothers' personal dilemma. I'm glad to see them get a win, even if it was just because the two MOW were rational enough to solve their problems. The Buffy alumni looked great and they work so well together. It was a pleasure to watch. I loved the boys trying to play Dr. Phil, like they have a clue how to counsel anyone about anything. It says something when the person trying to solve the problem is way more screwed up than the person with the problem

I enjoyed it and I'm really looking forward to next week when the Leviathon shift Operation Winchester into high gear. Should be very entertaining. :)

  15. at least they tried, were kind of stuck..and after getting out of there alive it's not like they had 3 years to think and come back. They were attack and Don saved their life from the levi and from his wife.Guess its harder when the 'thing' just save your life ^^; not sure going after the wife of the person who just saved you is a good idea...and they have the Levi to take care of now it's more a priority

    ReplyDelete
  16. I laughed a couple of times, so I voted great, but the truth is I think they could have done a lot more in building the humor around the war of the roses feud.

I'm getting so bored with the lack of a storyline this season. Dean's guilt is not a major storyline. It's something that should either play out slowly in the background, or peak and go away within a couple of episodes if it's going to be in the foreground. The leviathans don't really have my interest yet either. And I don't know what's going on with Sam or his hair.

    ReplyDelete
  17. But if he told him they wouldn't be 'good' then would they? I think Sam needs to get more pissed about Dean's drinking and state of mind than he would be about Amy. Then Dean will tell him.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Amen, chris.   I loved the first four episodes but it really does feel like they're struggling with the main plot points for this season.   I did like that Dean acknowledged he feels like everything is his fault...maybe that is a first step...but that whole "emo" scene at the end was totally underwhelming.

Actually, I thought the whole episode was underwhelming.   And I have to disagree with the comment about the writing being "exceptional".   Hardly.  It was as if the writers were trying way too hard to be funny.  I thought the whole thing fell flat.

There were a few cute moments, but nothing exceptional.  And while I loved the gross out factor, there was no true scare factor to go with it.

Interesting thought about letting the "monsters" live at the end, but they didn't have any way to stop them.  The method Bobby gave them didn't work.  So they diffused the feud to get them to stop killing people.  It wasn't an ideal solution, and yet another example of where the writing fell short.

Sorry, but this was the first speed bump of the season, imo.  Hopefully it will be the only one.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The thing is if they were serious about killing them, they would have regrouped and tried again. Also, Amy had killed her own mother to save Sam's life.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Those nails in the nail gun had to be the longest nails I have EVER seen. I thought it was a light hearted episode.  Definitely liked the Leviathan "quickie" both at the beginning and the end.  Showed us just a little more about them to keep building the mystery.  I just hope they know what kind of magic Don used to incapacitate him.

Dean's got to get rid of the "He FULL-ON ___________ed it."  Throw the flag for overuse.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Couldn't agree more. I found myself reaching for the remote once to change the channel. The writing was exceptional? Where? I thought it was the worst of the season. Flat, dull and boring.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Loved "Spike & Cordy", they were very good together and hope they do come back.  Laughed every time Dean called Sam Lance and Sam would come back bicycle.  I just really enjoyed the light show, until the very end when we had to go thru the Amy thing again.  Hey writers, getting VERY OLD.  Had a hard time watching that scene at the first, that we saw in the Jared posting, kept wishing it was that out take instead. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  23. Don and Maggie have been together since the Genghis Khan reign.

    ReplyDelete
  24. My thoughts:
    1) Supernatural handles witches VERY well in my opinion. Making the deaths incredibly gruesome and deranged...It was actually frightening to me when that nail gun attacked that guy. This was much more effective than the "ghost" car in that guy's apartment. And the hearts inside the cupcakes? Simply awesome.

    2) Charisma and James were outstanding! They've not lost a single bit of their touch when coming up to bat.

    3) Dean's wearing his issues out in the open, and Sam is wearing his newfound happiness "Lance!"... "Biking!"... and that storyline was handled well by having it affect Dean and having Sam want Dean to just spit it out, but also not letting it derail the fun of the episode.

    4) I loved how this episode had the leviathans scheming and getting the drop on the brothers, so as to keep the main story going as well. Although it was funny to me that they didn't make the connection of what the Leviathan was. I was like "You guys need him to wake up so he can pass the exposition baton back to you?"

Overall, this is immediately one of my favorite standalone episodes. I think they gave both Charisma and James decent roles in the story, and utilized them well. The deaths were spectacular, (instead of stupid and awkward like last week's episode and that kitschy "god" that was so easy to kill, we have two untouchable witches!) the dialogue was better, the tension was just right, and the best part was that it was fun. And to have fun all while there's all this horrible killing going on around everyone (hello, decapitation! Hello, fried-hair lady and Mr. Nailface!) it was still light-hearted and funny.

  25. For the number of times they ask each other about "Plan B", you would think, for once, THEY WOULD HAVE A FARGIN' PLAN B!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. The plot hole would annoy me more if I hadn't already thought of all the other things that go against that scene with Amy. I suppose we'll have to see what happens to Dean because of him killing Amy. We still don't know the writers' intentions for having Dean make that choice.

    ReplyDelete
  27.  Maybe the forgetting to chill the chicken feet will be linked back to Dean's drinking. I can't see Bobby messing this up. All he has is a desk, lamp and books. Maybe Dean neglected to chill them, rendering the spell ineffective.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Great episode but my God, Dean is such a douche bag this season...Sam is my favorite of the brothers but don't get me wrong, I like Dean but this season, he sucks!

    ReplyDelete
  29. You preferred last week's trainwreck over this week's episode?
I guess it is up to opinion...
I just think that it's ridiculous that they kill "gods" on a regular basis, often with the first random object that they read about (yay roman ram horn just 20 miles away!) and then witches are painted as much more intelligent, resourceful, and overall more powerful/intimidating creatures in the very next episode?

Honestly, I think that maybe it's just a difference of who wrote the plot of last week's where they needed a monster to be a "big deal" so they made it a "God" like Osiris, but they still needed the monster to die easily for their story to work, agh...whatever, I'm trying to work this out in my head, but it's not working.

Anyway... you liked the writing of episodes 3 and 4 over this episode's writing? The episodes where they literally quit speaking coherently and started sounding like morons? (See: Scene in 7x04 when Sam speaks to Dean as his lawyer when Dean is on the stand...absolutely horrendous...)

    ReplyDelete
  30. A lot of their phrases lately have begun to annoy me. We get it, they speak a certain way, but for the love of Castiel, please don't make them say the exact same things every episode! It's getting ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I thought this episode was a greatly needed break.  I smiled; I giggled; I laughed out loud.  And I was grateful to get the opportunity before everything falls apart.  I loved the guest stars but thought the witch war would escalate a bit more.  The gore was suitably gory.  The pacing and writing were much better than the last 2 weeks.  My biggest disappointment was the lack of Amy resolution and lack of Buffy jokes.  All in all, this episode was a relief.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yeah it would've been nice to get 1 Buffy line in.
Did I just make this up, or did Dean remark that Don had a thing for blondes? That (if I didn't make it up in my head) could be a Buffy thing.

    THE GORE WAS GREAT. :D
Even you enjoyed it, so that's nice to know.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I thought Dean knew it was a Leviathan when he told Don it was on the Bucket list.  I could be wrong, there was some extra noise in my room during that scene.

I think you are dead  on with your other points.  But shouldn't there be more dissenting opinions if this type of show is done well?

I voted awesome. The episode was a classic, great MOTW. I loved when Sam and Dean were counseling Don and Maggie, and the ending with the Leviathan, I seriously had no clue as to how they'd get out of it alive. Overall, very great MOTW episode. Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters are a plus! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. "But shouldn't there be more dissenting opinions if this type of show is done well?"
What do you mean by that?
(There are PLENTY of dissenting opinions, just look around! lol)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Beyond Awesome! Worked on so many levels. The humor was off the hook. Nice combining the MOTW and the mythology elements into the ep. Sooooooo good to see JM and CC in fine form and deftly playing off each other. Loved that they got something of an ally (possibly) in Don/Maggie as I definitely would love to see them again!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I like how you are now Top 1 (which I think you were the whole time but the system didn't have the placements right at the start).

    ReplyDelete
  38. The Dean vs Sam arguments notwithstanding, I would think the differences would be more extreme.  The wording was bad with my original question. For example, Dean killing Amy. Most, if not all, want this put to bed.  Few are ambivalent. Nobody thinks it could be a valid plot point down the road.  Sam finds out much later, gets really pissed and then won't trust Dean during the mid-season or season finale.  Just a thought.   Must be the Percocet taking over the keyboard.  Sorry, man.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Fun episode which we definitely needed, it was nice to have a case opened and closed in one episode like the old days. I think the Amy thing will come out at a point where the brothers need to stick together and Sam won't be able to trust Dean. They should save it for something crucial (as much as I hate seeing the brothers fight and not stick together, it should come out when it really needs to because Dean is good at keeping things inside). If you get Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters to play supernatural characters who are married, you definitely don't kill them at the end. Also nail gun= gross. As soon as I saw that I was like I really hope they don't show the guy's body and they showed him anyway. My channel had the viewer discretion but I thought it should have added "may contain scenes which are disturbing to some viewers" like me. The cupcakes thing was gross too, I really hate when people start coughing up blood/ their insides in general. I'm surprised that she was fine and had no blood loss though... I'm gonna stay away from cupcakes for a bit though.

  40. An Ok ep... is good that the leviathan are chasing them...

    ReplyDelete
  41. they didn't kill Osiris... he was put on suspension..

    ReplyDelete
  42. I was just thinking back - we know Dean hates witches, but they also let Patrick (from The Curious Case of Dean Winchester) go too. Never figured that one out either.
It's just as well we have these inconsistencies - it gives us something to speculate over in between episodes :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yeah, but Sam wasn't involved in her death.  Dean did it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Jensen said teh Amy subplot would be resolved quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Dean didn't have what they had to do down right, I guess.  The chickens had to be cold. They weren't.  It was all they had.  What disappointed me was the heart to heart they were supposed to have according to one of the Internet mags didn't really happen.  We still have to wait on that.

    ReplyDelete
  46. That was my only fault to this ep, still with the Amy guilt.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I voted awesome even if the boys didn't get their problems settled.  It had some great comic relief even if Dean  trying to counsel Don and Maggie reminded me of his acting as Jensen acting as Dean in the French Mistake.  It was so close to the same thing, I had to laugh.  He was so bad with his advice.  Sam rushing in with panic on his face and talking to them was really good.  It was as BUGS related with the bees as I was afraid it would be.

    ReplyDelete
  48. l was disappointed. They had Charisma and James and that was a big thing for the fans. We were expecting something... maybe a little better than usual (better than the usual stand-alone l mean). l feel like it wasn't a good story or it just missed the mark somehow and the talent was wasted. Just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  49. And there is no such thing as "All circuits are busy" in Indiana.  Never happens. Not enough people out here. HAR!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Can't understand how went from 2 totally epic episodes at the beginning of the season, to the last 3. The last 3 have been very weak and have done little to move the story along - definitely not the Supernatural I know and love. I re-watched part of season 2 tonight just to make myself feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I HEART whichever prop person decided to name the port-o-potty company "BM Enterprises."  LOL

This ep feels really different from the first part of the season.  It's fun though.

Dean as a marriage counselor is really scaring me....and it just went south.  :-)

    Awesome!  Witch trumps Leviathan.

This ep felt like old times.  Even the 'Dean talk to me.' "no, sorry' scene felt like old times.  Good ep that doesn't leave me feelign the need to ultra analyze.

    ReplyDelete
  52. there's no season where it's 5-10..22 big, heavy episode driving the main story, stand alone always existed in every single season. There's nothing wrong with a small funny episode just to catch a break and have fun just before returning to another heavy episode, to another big confrontation with the bad guys

    ReplyDelete
  53. you made me guffaw!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I really liked how Charisma and James shone in this episode (which was a much needed breather) It was funny and gorey, and after the angfest of previous episodes, it was welcomed. Plus, we know now that witches (old powerful witches at least) have the power to knock levy's out.

And yes, I was happy that Dean at least remembers Cas. And it got me thinking, that maybe there's a paralled between Cas' purgatory fuck up and Dean's guilt over killing Kaylee (you mofo) Maybe some perspective on how doing something that you consider for the greater good can end up hurting the people you care about.

    ReplyDelete
  55. i really liked this episode, a lot more than last week.
it was great to have some gore and awesome deaths back, i've missed those
it still annoys me how the previously on's can give away the culprit but the witches were cool.
interesting how they can stop leviathans. its great how these monsters are trying to track down sam and dean, its nothing we've seen monsters do before so it makes the show interesting, that he just rocked up at their motel out of the blue and starts attacking, rather than what bad guys normally do which is banter around talking for ages and doing nothing. i find it a refreshing change, even if we know the boys won't die.
i can't wait for next week!!!
and i wish dean would stop drinking on the case.

    ReplyDelete
  56. i agree, i just want them to deal with it!! i'm sick of seeing amy in every recap and sick of dean moping in every episode. but everything else this episode was great

    ReplyDelete
  57. They tried and it didn't work. Obviously, they weren't "normal" witches, what with living since the 13th? 14th? century. They could've re-grouped and tried again but if you have only one way to kill someone and it doesn't work, "soothing" him is the next best thing, I guess. I was actually glad that they weren't killed. I liked those two :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Better than the poor 3rd and 4th episode but still not good.  Couple haha moments but nothing special.  And YET again, a potentially interesting Leviathan part is resolved way too quickly and easily (I'm looking at you sequence where Dean/Sam get out of the hospital in episode 3).  Tired of Dean brooding, for some reason I didn't mind it in Season 5 but it just seems like they're rehashing the same thing over and over.

The positive part was seeing James Marsters, liked him a lot as Braniac.  Never saw Buffy but I appreciate how they brought in him and Charisma Carpenter.  They were funny with their magical lashing out at one another.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I really enjoyed the episode

    ReplyDelete
  60. Sam told Dean that she had save him. Plus, that wasn't even Dean's case. Sam had worked it by himself.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Have to agree and disagree, loved this ep after 2 weaker ones, but I DVR SPN Monday-Friday on TNT.  They have 2 shows in the morning and run thru all the seasons over and over, on S6 right now.  So I just keep watching and saves me digging out the DVDs. lol

    ReplyDelete
  62. I wouldn't call it a plot hole unless you actually believed that Dean's behavior with Amy was consistent with his character, and that making compromises and judgment calls (like last night) was the exception to what we've seen in the past few years. My take on the Amy situation was that it was 90% emotion. Dean was transferring his fears about Sam and his own guilt to Amy, and that's the real reason he decided to kill her.

    ReplyDelete
  63. If you like James pick up S4-7 of Buffy and S5 of Angel and if you end up loving Spike there are a few eps in 2 and 1 awesome ep in S3.  Never cared for Buffy, but watched because of Spike.  Also James reads the audio books of The Dresden Files and it is like a movie playing in my head, he has different voices and accents for each character..He has ruined my DVD of Dresden Files for me, just not the same without his voice. lol

    ReplyDelete
  64. I was also happy Cas was mentioned and you make a good point.  Just bring Misha back in some form...please writers.

    ReplyDelete
  65. The port-o-potties in our area are called "Drop Zone," while I have also seen "Pot o' Gold."

    ReplyDelete
  66. I was looking for consistency with Dean killing Amy he really should be putting down any supernatural creature that kills people period. If Amy is the only one he does this too then it suggests that Dean's issues lie with him not trusting Sam more than actually doing the right thing. I haven't seen the episode yet but if the witches didnt cause anyone deaths and he let them live then all is good and makes sense, if he let them go after they killed poeple then its an issue with Sam and thats how Sam will see it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I thought that this episode was going to be much funnier than it really was, but that is a good thing. Loved the flashbacks and to see the guilt that Dean is still carrying with him because of Sam is just heartbreaking. Osiris really got him thinking of all he has done in the past. We should hook up. I have been dealing with so much guilt myself (rough year, but that is another story). All of the could haves and should haves that I have had to live with and will continue to do won't change anything. Sam offered himself to Dean as a friend and brother to depend on and talk to. I have my mother for that (she's my hero and always been there for me when life has gotten to be too rough), but some things I just have to keep to myself. So, I have been there, and even if my guilt in no way compares to what Dean is going through, it is good to know that I am not the only one.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Ah, Spike, why do I love you? Even when you're evil, even when you have dark hair and some years on you, even when you're American and not even Spike, you are just great. And Cordy, you too. I'll bet they had fun working together again.

My first SPN episode, and while it was not good enough to make me obsessed, I might watch it again. Of course, I didn't know a lot of what was going on.

    ReplyDelete
  69. exactly its an issue with Sam and clearly has nothing to do with him doing the right thing. I think him not killing Maggie and Don answered that question outright. Dean doesn't trust Sam or his judgement and he was definitely projecting that onto Amy when he killed her. Its not a plot hole or an inconsistency in the character its a very big flashing sign-Dean doesn't trust Sam.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think it'll be next week

    ReplyDelete
  71. Sorry you are having bad times, but you know this is the only show I have ever watched that I can place myself into some of their thinking. So I do understand what you are saying. Hope things get better for you.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yeah I did like the last two better than this one. This one was boring and flat and except for the jogging scene all the humor and chat between the brothers was forced. I did like the gore though, that was done well.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Well they tried to kill them and it did not work, and as it turned out, that was a good thing. Don did save them.

    ReplyDelete
  74. If you are in America and have a DVR, TNT has 2 eps M-F and they play it in a loop, will be thru S6 next week and will start over with S1.  Even though I have the DVDs I still watch everyday. SPN is my favorite series.

    ReplyDelete
  75. theres just 1 thing i dont get..... Dean killed the girl sam liked a few episodes ago wen she was just killing to save her dying son but wen 2 witches are having a domestic dispute and kill many people they get left to go free at the end of the episode.? i dont get it

    ReplyDelete
  76. Why do fans of the show want this "Amy-thing" put to bed, and don't think it's a valid plot point?
Because it's been done a zillion times already on Supernatural with one brother going behind the back of the other for a zillion well meant reasons, and then it backfires. Seen it before, so stop with the boring crap.

We want to see the brothers fighting and defeat the Leviathan, and mostly we want the lying and keeping it all in to stop for a while and have lots of brotherly moments, we've been missing that since Season 5.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The witches killed several people in very gory ways, and these people weren't as guilty as the people Amy killed. Also, they didn't have a good reason for killing them - just jealousy or temper tantrums.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I read an article that suggested that Dean was projecting his own self-hatred and guilt onto both Sam and Amy in that episode. The monster he is afraid of is himself. I think that theory works too.

    ReplyDelete
  79. It was so close to being voted as Awesome..And then we saw the last 3 minutes where Dean did NOT admit that he killed Amy.So,great it is.

It was really fun, personally I was not disappointed.I liked the mix they did, with the witch hunt and the Leviathans. It's good to have a stand alone episode and at the same time not forget the bigger storyline.
Although I never really got into Buffy,I truly enjoyed the guest stars. And the writing was so much better than the last episode.

It was a start to see what is troubling Dean(at the point where he's close to becoming an alcoholic),but the episode would be so much better for me if we could just get passed Amy already.I mean, they're not even showing that he feels so guilty because he didn't trust Sam,which I'm sure plays a role, but the way they're presenting it,it's like the major part of the guilt is because he killed Amy.And honestly, looking back the last three seasons,I'm having a hard time thinking of a death as insignificant as Amy's.Can we just move on?!Please..

But that is my only complaint,I really enjoyed the episode and next one seems truly amazing!   : )

  80. I dunno, I liked last weeks episode more. It was okay..
I mean, I LOVE Charisma Carpenter & James Masters, but the actual episode.. meh.

  81. Oh don't get me wrong, I completely agree that there have always been light episodes which have always been some of my favorites! I simply feel like the last 3 episodes as a whole have been a bit off - big leaps of faith in story line, ignoring things that in the past would have been important, etc. On the upside, next week looks very promising and I am looking forward to seeing if things start to flow a little better. :)

i think Dean is just lost to be honest , i mean he had sam in seasons 1-3 telling him right from wrong and Dean was   actually seeing that all monsters are not bad but then Sam in season 4 went dark and choose ruby over Dean that broke all the trust for Dean and Sam then season 5 they were just starting to talk and get along mid way season 5 , but then sam jumped in the pit and came back soulless and Dean  was trying to tell Sam from right and wrong and keep him stable then Cas . Basically i think that everything has just made dean a little lost and does not trust Sam anymore so when Sam said Amy wont kill again he did not believe him because back in season 4 sam's judgement cause alot of things to happen .But i think Dean made a wrong call a massive one and if Sam wants to hit him when he finds out Dean should take it like a man , but i dont think sam would though x

  84. It is not like they didn't try and kill them, it just did not work and as it turned out that was a good thing as Don saved them.  Powerful witches centuries old seem to be very hard to kill.

  85. Good point. I keep forgetting that, but still...He didn't put up much of a fight for a God...

why is he a dick because he brarted his brother hello sam's done that choose ruby over dean and opened the gate to hell . I dont think dean's a di..ck i just think he's lost and made a massive mistake but thats what you call being human , sam's done so much more .

  87. I just watched in this morning and I loved it. It was a fun episode, which after the emotional stuff in the past few, was a nice adjustment. I never watched Buffy (except for an occasional rerun), so I wasn't as excited about the guest stars, but they were really good too.

  91. Don't know why.  It could lead to conflict which would add some to a battle against a foe they know little of.  And imagine the battle with the brothers on their own because of this being the final straw. Either work with it or dump it. I'm much more into the methods and mythology as the relationships anyhow.

  92. I miss Misha, hope he comes back soon enough.

  93. I think Dean's being a douche because he has made many mistakes as well, maybe not as huge as Sam but still. Dean's attitude towards his brother is like he, Dean, can do no wrong. At least it seems that way to me.
Sam has been through so much worse than Dean, some of that was his own fault, some not his fault. And Sam is trying his best but Dean just doesn't make anything easier for him or the situations that they are in.
I know there are MANY Dean fans here, I am myself but more so for Sam, so I hope I didn't say anything too bad! :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. I don't think Sam has been thru half of what Dean has, Sam was what in the pit a day..maybe.  Dean was in it for 40 years to him, 30 of it being tortured and the rest doing the torture.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Don't worry he will, it was pretty much confirmed :) We just don't know yet if it's going to be as the LeviBoss or Jimmy or Cas or something else :(

    ReplyDelete
  96. Sam's body was in the pit for about a day. His soul was in there for about 150 years. Dean's body was never in Hell. His soul was in Hell for about 40 years.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Um, actually Dean's attitude is quite the opposite.  He said as much in the final scene last night.  He feels responsible for pretty much everything and that's a lot of weight to carry.   Doesn't excuse the approach he's been taking, especially with Sam, but it's certainly not because he feels he's better than anyone.  They're still Winchesters, remember, if anything they have a major INFERIORITY complex...they never feel like they're good enough.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Because witches can take out the big bad L. They need them. I bet we see them soon enough.

    ReplyDelete
  99. First off, I think people are making way too much of the easiness of last week's dispatching of Osiris...and no, he wasn't killed.  Just about any Jewish Synagogue will have a Shofar, or ram's horn.  When Sam Googled it, the use of the Shofar in Jewish ceremony was bound to come up and then finding a Synagogue in a major city wasn't all that difficult.  It seemed like it was really easy, but it wasn't all that much of a stretch.

As for killing the witches...the thing everyone seems to be forgetting is that unlike any of the other supernatural creatures the guy's fight, witches are actually humans with supernatural powers.  And as Dean told us back in Season One..."Demons I get, people are crazy".   Humans are much more unpredictable and harder to deal with...apparently even moreso than gods.  Remember, with all of those angels and demons involved it was two humans who ultimately stopped the Apocalypse.  Don't underestimate them. ;)

And finally the writing...yes, I preferred last week's.  Yes, there were weak moments in both of the last two episodes but there were also strong moments and the main point of the episodes stood up solidly.  The scenes with Jo last week were some of the best written ones I've seen the last couple of seasons...they had that classic early Supernatural feel, like Seasons 1 and 2.

Last night just felt flat.  The grossness was good, the guest stars acted well, but the humor was forced and the "emo" exchanges between the brothers were weak.  I guess I'm a little frustrated that the writers/producers seem to be relying on showing Dean drinking his way through every job rather than putting real effort into well thought out scenes between the two brothers that would allow them to actually work through their problems.  Of course, it's still early in the season so there's plenty of time to get that done, but last night's episode just frustrated the crap out of me.

  100. As chrid684 says, Sam was actually in hell a LOT longer than Dean, not to mention he was in the cage with Lucifer himself - two bored arch-angels with nothing to do but amuse themselves by torturing Sam and Adam.  Multiple characters (Cas, Crowley, etc) have mentioned that the cage is far worse than regular hell.  Sam needed a wall put between his mind and the memories just to function - Dean didn't when he came back from hell.  Sam was possessed by the devil himself also - can't have been fun and must have caused lasting damage.  Sam was poisoned with demon blood as an infant which led to his addiction later in life.  His girlfriend was killed in front of him.  Cas brought the wall down and fractured his mind.  And now he has hallucinations of Lucifer haunting him.  And as you said, much of the time Dean spent in hell was spent torturing others, not being tortured.  Sam was never given that out - he spent his time in the cage solely as a victim.

I think that both brothers have been through a lot and have suffered in different ways, and I'm not trying to start a brother vs brother "who had it worse" debate, but I do think that it's silly to say that Sam hasn't been through "half" of what Dean has or that Dean has somehow had it worse than Sam.

  101. best epi ever go James & Charisma !!! :)=

  102. I remember Cas telling him good things do happen and he said something
like not to me and Cas said you don't think you deserve to be saved.  So agree with you on this.

    ReplyDelete
  103. You're correct, I do remember someone saying being in the cage was worse than hell, but Dean was tortured for 30 years before he said yes to get off the rack and start doing the torture. He beats himself up because getting off was what broke the first seal and he just does not thing he is worthy.  I remember Cas telling him good things do happen and he said something like not to me and Cas said you don't think you deserve to be saved. Not saying that Sam does not have BIG problems and I don't have a favorite brother, love them both, but just getting tired of everyone hitting on Dean and saying oh poor Sam.  They both have been thru HELL, yes pun intended. lol

    ReplyDelete
  104. I must have missed where they said Sam's soul was in hell 150 years and if Dean's body was never in hell what was the web he was on?  This is a hard series to totally figure out and I watch it over and over.

    ReplyDelete
  105. With a normal death, the body rots in a grave while the soul goes to heaven or hell.  That's what happened with Dean.  They buried him for four months. In Hell time that equaled 40 years.

In Sam's case, his body and soul fell directly into Lucifer's cage in Hell.  How that body was returned without the soul is confusing and not explained very well, but Sam's soul was in Hell for about 15 months (a year had passed between Swan Song and Exile on Main Street, and then there were about three additional months between Exile and Appointment in Samarra).  Each month on earth is the equivalent to about 10 years in Hell, so that equals 150 years.

  106. Got it, thanks for the explanation.

  107. I enjoyed it. It was nice to have a lighter episode, but I'm definitely looking forward to next week! From the moment Sam started the 'counseling' thing between Maggie and Don I had a feeling he was gonna try to get Dean to talk to him. Like he always does. :D I'm also glad Don wasn't able to actually kill the Leviathan. I was worried for a minute there, because after the whole 'THEY'RE IMPOSSIBLE TO KILL' thing some witch would be able to just extinguish them just like that... But apparently he  could only make it unconsious or whatever.

I'm wondering though... Why did Sam and Dean leave the Starks alive? They failed the first time, but shouldn't they have tried again? They killed innocent people after all! (Well...semi innocent.) But still. Dean killed Amy for killing people, why not at least try again with the witches?

  109. For anyone interested, Misha has a web series that is in ep 5 called Divine the Series.  He is not in it much, and it is VERY dark supernatural show.  I put the first 5 ep on a DVD and just finished watching it, am looking forward to the next ep.

  111. Taking Dean off the rack wasn't really an out. It would appear that way to a despearate man but really it was a continuation of the torture.  Torturing souls goes against every value Dean ever had. Being tortured himself was bad enough but Dean betrayed himself and with that comes loads of guilt and self-recrimination.

Based on their current post hell mental states Sam seems to have faired a lot better than Dean because Sam feels absolved from all his guilt and Dean just finds more things to feel responsible for.

Then again who knows how long absolved Sam is going to last.

  114. Just got to watch this episode and gave it an awesome...for humor, gruesome deaths, and continuation of plot even in a MOTW episode. Really didn't expect to have Leviathans in it so was very pleased. Now wonder how they are going to contain it and if they are going to experiment on it to see how to kill them...could set up some interesting ethical questions?

Dean's back in character - keeping everything bottled up inside, drinking, and I've come to the conclusion that this is as good as the writers are going to get, so I'm over it (keeping secrets). As long as the brothers stand together let the writers mold Dean to fit however they feel that week.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Not as good as I had hoped.

     - Turning the guest stars into manipulative, vindictive rich people just made me want to see Emily Thorne from Revenge show up and take them down.
     - It's funny how the tables have turned in the Sam / Dean relationship.  Sam's the more carefree jokey brother while Dean is now the secretive, angsty, uptight one.
     - Apparently, Dean has a thing for Bewitched.
     - Kudos to Don for taking out that Leviathan and getting rid of those coins.
     - After killing Amy, I don't see how Dean can justify moving on and letting these two go.  It's hypocritical to say the least.

thought that this would have sucked but actaully really good :) loved James masters great actor . But i usually dont like stand alone eposide's but no this was funny and Dean was making jokes about Sam and talking about women it felt like the old supernatural . loved the qoute Dean: It's kind of like Bewitched, you know. Don's Darren, doesn't even know it. Lots of laughs until you cheat on your wife.
    Sam: Witch reference? Really?
Dean: Dude. Nicole Kidman was in the remake. Redhead. Hello.

lol Dean: And I'm still me, okay? So, so, you might see things different now. Call it a runner's high or some crap. But that doesn't mean that something's going on with me, okay?
    Sam: Yeah, okay.
Dean: No, don't say "yeah, okay," like uses "duh" voice) "yeah, okay."
    Sam: Yeah, okay.
i mean  i know it was not outstanding but it was good 8/10 this season has so far rocked for me . Also dean is getting hotter and hotter lol

LOL meh i dont really agree cause Dean know's he's done wrong in fact he takes the blame for everything . As for Sam well , i think Dean is just lost trust in Sam cause member Sam did choose ruby over Dean and then not his fault but came back soules and truned Dean into a vamp etc...so i think like i say dean has lost trust .But i know Sam is trying and that's good because Dean is stubarn  lol . I dont get the whole thing you said that sam has been through more than dean because i think they have been through the same unless your talking about Sam being in the pit . LOL you didn't say anything bad i know alot of fans attack but i dont i like to talk about it cause yes i like dean better than sam but at the end of the day it's a tv show . :)
