  1. I absolutely love this show! Will definitely keep watching and I can't wait for more!

  2. Definitely lived up to expectations for me. Will watch again!

  3. Loved it! This time in HD, and it rocked again

  4. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad I was able to convince at least a few skeptics to watch(they loved it too).

  5. I liked it.  It has just enough mystery, just enough camp, and just enough action to bring me back for another episode.  I thought most of it was well done.  Not a big fan of this version of Snow White and her atrocious fashion choices and liked Evil Queen better than Mayor but everyone is intriguing at this point.

  6. I think this is one of the first shows this season that you've actually liked. Now I really believe I gotta check it out. "I liked it" is high praise coming from you. ;)

  7. Ha!  I've actually liked Terra Nova, Ringer, and Person of Interest too.  They are all widely varied but entertaining if you don't take their wild premises too seriously.

I had mixed feelings about this show and grimm. But i had more expecations for this show because it has a huge story to come from and grimm is more like supernatural. But after watching this pilot I totally believe that this show has met expecations and even exceeded in some like how well they are puting both storys together into one whole. Although im a little more interested in the real life story then the snowwhite background probably because of emma she is very compelling and a great center point between both worlds but she isnt even in the fairytale part. Im a huge fan of Robert Caryle (rumplestiltskin) so that helps me like the show to and i hope his character is going to be important to the story. I hope this show does good because i think it has a lot of potential. And i heard they are planning on bringing maleficent into the show that is going to be interesting lol. Good luck lost writers and cast your show has casted a spell on me to watch. Also in a P.S. kind of note i believe that adding the mystery to the modern time from the past with snow white will help making more a compelling resolution to what ever stories are created.

yea i agree on the action i liked the legend of the seeker time magic and fighting which made me like legend of the seeker in the first place. I didnt like snow white in the modern time lol but i liked both evil queens. This is going to be confusing lol talking about 2 times each character lol. Rumplestiltskin though has me most compelled lol i think he is greatly portrayed by Robert Caryle and i hope he's a main cast member.

  10. I loved it!
I think it was very well cast. At first I thought the fairytale world would be too cheesy, but it wasn't!
Ginnifer Goodwin was great and the little boy.
I'm definitley gonna watch next week!

  11. It was pretty fantastic. I watched it on IMDB a few days ago, so I've seen it twice now because I love it so much, and really appreciate how it all came together.

For Emma, who seems like a really damaged person, the plot worked really well. It starts out with her knowing nothing about family, being a lonely, damaged person, and then her whole life changes. She was teetering on whether or not she would risk getting hurt by caring about her kid until the end of the episode, since she has no legal right to him, but grew closer throughout the episode, and at the end they really opened up to each other. And when Emma asked the Queen if she loved Henry, she seemed to risking herself with the question, "Can I afford to love him? Would he better off without me like everyone else, or does she not love him?", and since she could tell the queen is lying, she's decided to be involved with his life. This seems to be set up for Emma's arc throughout the whole series, and I think the pilot did a wonderful job setting it up. I also really like the actress who plays her, even though I wasn't expecting too (due to my mixed feelings about her character on HIMYM).

What else... well, I love all of the little touches and the set ups for things to come. For one, I love how the series is going to transition between the current world and the fantasy world, I think it will be a great way to study these characters. I've read about some of the upcoming characters, and I don't want to spoil it for anyone (lol even though I'm commenting on a spoiler tv article), but it sounds great. I love the set up with Snow White and John, the prince in the current world. How now he's the one who's sleeping and she'll have to be the one who wakes him up. :) And of course, the twist on little red riding hood was cool. I like how the queen was depicted; it looks like the whole single mother fighting to keep her kid thing will make her more relatable. And of course, the question is, how much does she remember? I also love all of the characters so far, and the casting is pretty much pitch perfect. I love the way that Snow White was introduced as the school teacher, that scene is fantastic, for many different reasons. The crumbling castle vs. the wooden castle. I saw Alice In Wonderland in the book, and the creators have said that they haven't written her yet, because they only have 13 episodes, so I hope they can get to her once this show gets a full season order (I imagine it will; it's been getting a lot of buzz and most people like it). There are a lot of little details about the episode I love, but I'll leave it at that.

It's a little cheesy, but in a good way. The cheesy parts are contrasted with both the darkness of the fantasy world and the realness of the current world very well. I love it. The show has so much potential.

Also, most of the negative comments I've seen regarding this show come from bias or being close minded. Not all though. It just seems like some people aren't going into this with an open mind, understandably, because it's a show about fairy tales. So to them I say, try looking at it differently! There are so many things to love about this pilot.

My only concern is the long term story. I'm really excited to see where the main story goes, and I'm sure that the Lost writers have a plan, but I worry anyway, that's natural of me to do. The first season should be about these characters and their origins, according to the writers. When will they start remembering though? I wonder. Anyway, I'm done.

    Again, I love it!

  12. I watched the pilot days ago and had a fairly mediocre opinion about the series. I watched it again tonight with my nieces (12 and 11) and I think my opinion of it improved to good - still not "great" and no where near "awesome".

I had the biggest laugh when the older one said aloud "Who drives a strange kid anywhere without calling the police first?" I wrote something similar in the other thread (and was mocked for it)... maybe it's a genetic thing? XD

I still think the real world side of it is not real enough to let me truly enjoy the show, but going in knowing it is nothing near adult drama I enjoyed it a little bit more. I think it earned a few more episodes of my viewing to improve before I stop watching now.

FYI The older niece did not really like it and thought it was "sappy" and "too optimistic" (gotta love precocious kids) and the younger one liked it a lot and thinks she will watch the full season.

  13. Oh, and who else loves Grumpy? :) Haha.

  14. will be tuning in next week!!!!

best pilot show of the year!!

  15. Been looking forward to this for a long time, and it exceeded my expectations. Can't wait for the next episode!

  16. Rumpelstiltskin is the most interesting to me too.  He comes off evil but is he completely evil, does he play both sides, or does his visions lead the way he acts?  It's all very mysterious and I have a feeling that he, maybe more than Emma, will determine where the story goes.  He has to be a main character.  Get Glue put him on the sticker.  :-)

    ReplyDelete
  17. It's OK. Feels like a mini series or TV movie.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Looking good so far.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ha!

Stickers aside, I think you're right. It seems like it will set up something like this.... The Mayor/ Evil Queen wants to be the "fairest" and is in it for her personal power, Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin will be in it for his personal profit and they may not always be a unified team against Emma/SB.

  20. I ended up loving the pilot and really can't wait to see next weeks episode already. I usually leave Sunday nights for finishing off all the things I didn't do over the weekend, but I am now going to set aside time to sit down and actually watch this show. Loved the casting and the entire premise. I hope if does well for ABC. I need another show where I have to 'think' about timelines and plots that are going on simultaneously. So I LOVED this show.

  21. Don't hate me for bringing this up? But did  yout catch all the LOST references? like 108, 815 changing to 8 16, and tons more maybe... I felt like at home again....

  22. Immediate impressions

    * really like the guy playing Prince Charming
    * Who is the blonde female lead?  Is she Snow White's daughter?  I LOVE that character!  About a minute and a half into her first scene...that character had me.   I think I will officially be a regular viewer (or at least DVR'er) of this show.

I was doing okay until I saw the fairies costume.  Yeep.  Who thought that was a good idea?

    *  Tell me they didn't kill off Prince Charming.  :-(
    *  Okay..I'll take the coma.  whew

I don't usually write these while I'm watching a show, but that was fun for me (don't know abut anyone else)

I can't quite figure out if the Evil Queen/Mayor knows who she is or not.

    This is a keeper.

  23. Why would anyone hate you for bringing up LOST  Easter Eggs? XD
Caught them and giggled as I saw them when I watched. ... especially the clock tower.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Loved all of them, I even went to www.whosyourmomma.org and nothing, lol Someone go ahead and buy that domain!!!!

  25. I had low expectations but came out thrilled with the show.  Robert Carlyle of course chewed up the scenery.  They just need to cast Alex Kingston against him and the screens will explode.  Did you guys catch that Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring on Breaking Bad) is going to be in it?  I saw him in the preview just briefly and looked it up on IMDB.  Yessss!!  I hope he stays with it!  Also Alan Dale and Brad Dourif are supposed to be in it.  They could go nuts with awsome guest stars.

I've not been so excited about a network show in a long time.

  26. I'm uncertain of how I felt about this show. I wanted to love it because the concept is pretty unusual, but the storyline just seemed so forced to me. I'm not sure what I really expected. I will give it another couple episodes before I make a final decision on how I feel about it

    ReplyDelete
  27. it was interesting, i will give it a 2nd ep.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ha!
It would have been fun if they had the site set up for their "fake" website like How I Met Your Mother does for each of the websites the characters mention.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I LOVED IT!!!! I was going into this show with the lowest of low expectations, the previews never really appealed to me.  I watched it just to humor my mom more than anything and we both REALLY like it!  I think this show and Revenge will be the big winners for ABC this year.

  30. I really enjoyed the pilot :) but I'll wait to see how the next few episodes turn out...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Actually, I love doing bullet points as I watch a show!

Especially for pilots it helps me remember details I may not recall later. Plus, it's fun to look back over the bullet points and see if your opinion changed as the show went on. XD

    ReplyDelete
  32. From the commercials I thought it looked cheesy. But since it was from the writers of Lost I thought I would give it a shot. And to my surprise I was blown away. I really liked it. It definitely has a Lost sort of feel to it (and I enjoyed the Lost references :) ). It exceeded my expectations, and I will for sure be tuning in next week. The characters are intriguing and its all very mysterious. A nice change from the regular sitcom or Cop drama.

  33. I love this show<3 Finally seen the first episode! It's awesome. It's the most emotional episode I've seen since the last episode of LOST! :D Why do we have to wait one more week to see a new episode?! It kills me, haha:)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I was really looking forward to, "Once Upon a Time." I mean, it's got the LOST people working on it, and the oddity of the fairy tale theme intrigued me.
And then I watched the first twenty minutes or half hour last night. God, how cliched and badly written! Sure, it's a fairy tale, so it's going to be a cliche, and I understand that, but there's nothing new here to make me see the old story in a new light. (Special note, however, to the bride drawing her groom's sword to take on the witch.)
Sorry....much as I wanted to like this, I just couldn't. Bad writing, bad acting, and story I've known for fifty years just don't do it for me.

  35. LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! I am already wishing that it was next week already!!! I will be watching the pilot again and again to tide me over to the next episode! And then I will do the same for the following episodes of the season!

I am so glad that Prince Charming is in a coma, even though he was mortally wounded after putting Emma into the wardrobe. The show would just not be the same without him.

I think Regina knows she is the Evil Queen. It is her curse, after all! The look on her face when  she was looking in the mirror says it all.

I think Mr Gold/Rumpelstiltskin knows more than he's letting on, although not as much as Regina/Evil Queen knows....

I'M SOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOKED!!! Finally a decent show other than your usual crime/cop shows and  romantic comedies.....

  36. I enjoyed it more than I expected, think it still has a lot to work on to be a great show and I hope it gets the opportunity to do that

    ReplyDelete
  37. It did not live up to my expectations. She fairytale world looked really fake. Snow White and Prince Charming had no chemistry wahtsoever, and for the first time ever I thought Ginnifer Goodwin was really comfortable with her role. She way she acted was dry, while most of the time she actually really great.
However I do like the storyline, and I'm curious about how it will evolve. So I'm going to give this show five episodes and if I'm not charmed by then I'll probably stop watching...

  38. Interesting concept although IMO much was "only" setup. Loved the soundtrack and will keep watching.

    ReplyDelete
  39. i defiently enjoyed it more then i thought i would! though i liked the real world better then the fairly tale one but ill be back for next weeks ep!

  40. Posted this elsewhere but i suppose it belongs here, reading through the comments I feel pretty alone. I can't believe 236 of you thought this show was 'awesome'

This was surprisingly bad. MY girl and I watched it all the way through, refusing to believe it could really be that bad because we actually wanted to like it. Smoked a little pot to see if that would help get it, but then just laughed and laughed at how terrible it really was. It seems like a decent premise that fell apart in the execution. I am sad that this didn't pan out, and though I enjoyed the many LOST nods (the eye opening, clock stuck at 8:15, house number 108) I gave it the full hour and won't be giving it any more than that. Can't believe that Eddy and Adam are behind this. Damon Lindelof  abandoning the project after getting it signed seems now like he was just doing for his proteges what JJ did for him.

  41. Solid, well-done pilot.

     - The plot is enjoyable and was made easy enough to understand for the masses.
     - Solid acting all around.  (bonus points for Grumpy the drunk)
     - Emma Swan has a bit more swagger and is a little more rough-and-tumble than I imagined, which is definitely a good thing.
     - The show did a great job of creating a place (Storybrooke) that I'm eager to explore further.
     - I was worried that Lana Parrilla's character would be too over-the-top but that title may end up going to Rumpelstiltskin.  Robert Carlyle certainly didn't hold anything back with his performance.

The pilot was not without some problems:

     - Question:  Who the hell drives a strange kid with no identification across state lines just because he claims he's your son?
     - Question:  How do you not even attempt to confirm this boy is yours before deciding to stick around?  If this is the "real world," Emma should act like it and get a damned paternity test.
     - Question:  How can a bail bondsman just take off for a week without notice?  Wouldn't that lead to all sorts of legal complications?
     - Question:  Isn't it proper procedure to take an unconscious accident victim to the hospital even if they're suspected of DWI?
I have more "questions" but they're increasingly nitpicky.

Regardless of the logic flaws, this was a solid start to a show that a lot of people seem to be quite happy with.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I liked the pilot... I really did I just found the "fairy tale" world bits a tad weak which IMO imbalanced the show. They'll need to find a way to even up the field.

Having said that I'm definitelly planning on tuning in week 2!

  43. Questions 1 & 2) Well, Emma can tell if someone is lying, and she's been alone, so she's apparently relied on that skill her whole life (although it's obviously some kind of magical gift), so she believes she can judge a person really well. Like how she asked the mom at the end if she loves Henry, she doesn't know her well, but she knew that she doesn't love him because she could just tell.

    3) Well she said she works on delivery/job, not a regular salary? They put that in there to let us know her schedule is flexible.

    4) That bothered me too. If there was just one line in there, like, "the doc checked you while you were out, and you have no injuries), would have been fine. But at least it was more like a small bump than an actual crash. *shrugs*

Most of the minor flaws didn't distract from the great pilot, for me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. How is it bad? Aside from a few hokey lines of dialogue (and general campiness of the fantasy world scenes), I don't think there are any major flaws with it. As for explanation, the show is going to go into different back stories each week, so we'll find out motivations and information regarding what happened here later. You haven't stated one reason why you think it's bad? :/ The line about pot isn't really helping your comment.

    ReplyDelete
  45. "Most of the minor flaws didn't distract from the great pilot, for me."
Agreed.  All pilots have their issues but that doesn't mean the overall product isn't good.

"Well, Emma can tell if someone is lying, and she's been alone, so she's
apparently relied on that skill her whole life (although it's obviously
some kind of magical gift), so she believes she can judge a person
really well. Like how she asked the mom at the end if she loves Henry,
she doesn't know her well, but she knew that she doesn't love him
    because she could just tell."

The fact that the kid wasn't lying only definitively proves he believes what he's saying.  It doesn't mean what he believes is true.  Truth or not, if she's caught in a car with a kid who isn't hers two states away from the child's home there's going to be trouble.  Her first move should have been to contact the parents or at least find out if there's an amber alert.
