A new showrunner has joined upcoming Starz action-drama Noir.
Criminal Justice producer Steven Lightfoot wrote the script for the live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime series, and was intended to serve as executive producer long-term.
However, he has now been replaced by Sean Jablonski.
Jablonski recently served as showrunner on the first season of USA's legal drama Suits, which has been picked up for a second run.
In August, he stepped down from his Suits role and was replaced by the show's creator Aaron Korsh.
Jablonski has also worked on Nip/Tuck, Law & Order and Oz.
He will executive produce Noir for Starz alongside Sam Raimi, Bob Tapert, Joshua Donen and Bill Hamm.

As long as they don't make the "typical" Starz mistake of trying to make the show too sexy and stylish, this could be pretty interesting. But the Boss pilot was a good sign that Starz seems to be slowly heading in the right direction...
ReplyDeleteAgreed completely!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to check out Boss so maybe I will do that tonight.
Looked for some info on what's going on witht his show:

This article and casting call heavily concentrate on the concept of nudity & sexuality. I have no problem with that, I'm all for it, but only if it helps enhance the plot. But making it such an important thing so early doesn't really make me hopeful that it will be for the best of the story.
Nudity is good when the writing is good, so I wouldn't look it that way. The only problem I have is that they are shooting it in New Zealand with producers from Spartacus which means that the crew could be the same. Spartacus looks terrible and I don't know why they decided to shoot it with green screen.
ReplyDeleteThey haven't cast any of the leads for this show yet, have they?
ReplyDeleteFrom what info I've seen they're taking it completely away from the anime, which was brilliant, and doing exactly that - making it super sexy and stylish and ugh. I've lost all hope for this project.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know they haven't.
ReplyDeleteI thought not. Strangely enough, no matter how hard I try, I can't think of any good casting suggestions for the leads either.
