    Huh. Didn't think they would. But I'm glad that they are taking it under consideration. Though the many conversations we've had here (I'm looking at you Dahne) have not offered up the perfect alternative.

    I do like they're changing the way they view ratings, but they're right when they say the papers care only for the overnight ratings, which is bad.

    FINALLY!!  Now we'll see if they implement any changes. Right now i don't see how given the fact it takes 5 wks for all info to be tabulated. That is going to have to change first,and i do not see that happening..........  At least they took there blinders off and acknowledge the impact of DVRS and streaming  tv!!

    Good to hear, Brit channels made the change to using consolidated figures for a few years now.  Some shows are watch now because you can join in (X-factor, reality and quiz shows for example) and other shows are made for sitting down with the whole family, or after kids are in bed, etc.  People are just time shifting their viewing to when they want to watch, rather than being held to certain times, it's therefore right that this should be taken into consideration when looking at viewing figures :)

    It takes 2 weeks before I see Canadian ratings update for the week. It's likely a more complete picture.
    Maybe now networks won't be so quick to cancel shows.

    I DVR on average sixteen episodic shows a week.  Then there are the single shows that capture my interest when I'm checking the schedule.  My DVR holds fifty hours of programming.  the only show I watch when it airs is 'Criminal Minds'.  Everything else I either watch later or download.

    A few years late, but glad to see this direction as it really makes sense with the sheer number of good shows all in the same timeslots Thursdays mostly, and now Fridays and Sundays... it just makes sense to take dvrs, out of the US, and online into account as well, but it'll be sometime til they come up with a perfect system.

    this is music to my ears because i DVR a lot of my shows and i just dont have enough time to watch everything that day.  Their are shows that iam religious about that get my live viewing attention but then there arent.  Im glad their considering a change it can definitely be a positive change!

    This is very good news! Although I admit i do have a DVR, I don't use it... I watch things live... This could be very good news for Fringe! Keeping my fingers crossed!

    In todays paper the rating for Fringe went from 3.3 million to 5 Million up 45% ,when they factored in DVR usage,that was the highest for the show.   Grey's Anatomy,and Terra Nova also grew by 3 million,taking into account DVR usage.NBC increased Parenthood,Up All Night,and Prime Suspect by 30 % using the DVR. To me this is good news,I have hope concerning Fringe.
