How To Be A Gentleman - Cancelled

8 Oct 2011

In case yesterday’s announced move to the Saturday night Phantom Zone wasn’t a clear enough sign of How to Be a Gentleman‘s fate, here’s another: Production on the Kevin Dillon series is shutting down.

Gentleman is easily the highest-rated show to get axed so far this fall, having failed to live up to the expectations provided by its giant lead in, The Big Bang Theory (bad reviews didn’t help, the show ranked 42 out of 100 on Metacritic). The comedy joins NBC’s Playboy Club and Free Agents in the fall boneyard.

  1. That's not unusual, CBS yanks every year their lowest rated comedy, whichever its ratings are, but this time it just seems a little early.

  2. Hopefully the forthcoming other bad comedies with man acting like jerks will get cancelled as well (Man Up and Last Man Standing). God knows why the networks decided this was the year we needed such rubbish.

  4. I'm not too surprised it's cancelled, but I am surprised they cancelled it this quickly.

They gave Shit My Dad Says its full initial run (13 episodes?), I guess I expected this to get similar treatment....

  5. From what I remember, they gave Shit a full season order, then cut it down to 18 episodes which finished in the Spring.

  6. I think you're right. I knew it was at least the initial 13 episode order.

  7. Yeah, but that show had a surprisingly good start ratings-wise as far as I remember. How to Be a Gentleman also had quite a weak start, so I can see why they pulled the plug that early.

  8. I guess just like in Entourage, "Drama" just can't fully succeed...

  9. to be honest, i didn't really pay much attention to the first episode, and didn't even see the second one. I'm also not surprised. But it is sad that they didn't give it a chance. Shows tend to lose ratings on the second episode. They should have given it one more episode before deciding.

  10. Well, guess making a show based on Johnny Drama and a poor man's Barney Stinson didn't work.

    What a surprise. NOT.

  11. makes you wonder why they even announced the schedule change.

  12. Not exactly suprised by this announcement.  Didn't like the show at all.
