After Monday nights episode of Joe saying that somebody will loose their life soon on the show Peter Lenkov received many threats on his Twitter page last night of fans saying that they want Lori Weston to be killed off. I have not read the posts of what happened (because I didn't get to watch the episode till Monday morning). I wanted to make a point about this because this has gotten a bit out of hand. Just remember if this does continue Lenkov has mentioned he will call the police and will get the people involved to have their IP banned from Twitter. It's just a show people but something like this over a certain character is not going to help. If you don't like Lori just don't watch the show.
Here's what he has said:

Peter Lenkov on Twitter
Lose. Not loose. Please.
ReplyDeleteWhy threaten? It's a fargin' TV show for Jason's sake.
ReplyDeletePeople who get that involved with a tv show scare the jebus out of me.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Lori's character either as I feel she messes with the dynamic of the team (there is a lack of Steve/McGarrett moments this season, and of course a lack of Kono). Constructive criticism is fine, but giving the showrunner death threats is going way too far. It's just a television show and shouldn't be taken that seriously.
ReplyDeleteOk, one thing that you might want to do is check the facts before reporting it before you make the situation worse. It seems that the threat came from a posted blog from last night, not twitter, where the larger line was not a threat against him, but a statement that if things don't change, then the ratings and viewership would decline. The blog entry has since been removed, and the poster has since apologized. Lenkov didn't receive many threats on twitter that Lori should be killed off, it was one blog post.
ReplyDeleteWow, some people are pathetic!
ReplyDeleteI sincerely wish the people CBS would get a life too. My gosh. Supernatural has gone in ratings because of fans carrying out threats to the show because they didn't like something. I would sincerely like to see something don on that, but it won't happen because Supernatural and its real fans know it's just plain stupid to try to threaten a show or individual or boycott something you claimed you were a fan of because something changed and you didn't get you way on it. If the people at Hawaii Five-O are smart, they'll take hit from SPN and just do what they are doing and realize that the real fans are going to stick with it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Lori. Her first episodes ruined it for me. I had a feeling that that's how its going to be this whole season. So I stopped watching the show, end of story.
ReplyDeleteThe show is nothing like what it used to be. screen time of Kono, Danny, Chin are all messed up. Even thought I don't watch I see fans complaining. I'm happy that I stopped. So yes, this is not the way to deal with your lack of interest in a character. If you don't like it don't watch it :)
This whole thing has been so blown out of proportion! Peter Lenkov didn't receive a death threat, just a threat from a "fan" with a bit of a problem separating reality from fantasy, to stop watching the show. After being constantly bombarded with hateful tweets from people who don't like the "Lori" character on Hawaii Five-0, Peter was understandably sensitive and misread the person's intent. Seriously people, if you find that you spend your time being this angry because of the direction a television show is taking, it's time to turn off the TV, and/or see a therapist. It's only make believe.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's one intelligent and non-threatening way to deal with the addition of a character you don't like. A better way, in my opinion, might be to adjust your outlook so you can understand how the character fits in with and alters the show--and enjoy the change. Just a different viewpoint is all.
ReplyDeleteFangirls, fanboys with no life...
ReplyDeleteWOW! I can't believe that fans resorted to this!?
ReplyDeleteI think that this is all ridiculous. To be honest, Peter made himself look worse than the fan. Everyone has the right to their own opinion as crazy as it may be. I think that for the fan, it would be better to stop watching if she doesn't like the show anymore. But Peter, jeez, if he actually felt threaten, then call the police period why advertise that he will? He took everything out of context and posted what he felt like to get attention from other people. He asks for feedback from fans so deal with it, there will always be fans that go overboard with everything.
ReplyDeleteand for McPhee, you write an article about it making it even worse, saying that Peter will call the police to get he person ban and stuff, did he say that to you personally? Because he only wrote that he will call the police. Talk about writing anything for attention from all parts!
I think he should call the police. I don't like her character either but that's going one step too far!
ReplyDeleteI don't like Lori and it's not a secret. I'm starting to lose the passion for this show because of this character and if some fans will do the same as I'm reading around, THIS could be a problem for the show.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, reading that sentence, the first thing I've thought is what I have just said. There will be problems (also for Peter I guess) if many fans will abandon the show because of a "wrong character" and maybe this is what this fan wanted to say.
And thanks to coldheart78 for pointing out what's really happened.
The hate over Lori is ridiculous. She's not a love interest, and I like her. She's a nice character!
ReplyDeletePlease, stop blowing things out of proportion. It makes the whole fandom look bad, when in reality it was not a group of people, but just one (!) fan voicing their displeasure in a rather rude and awful manner.
ReplyDeleteI feel like just quoting coldheart78 here.
ReplyDeleteThere were no twitter threats. And I read the post before it was deleted, there was no "threat" against Lenkov himself but regarding viewers and ratings. He's just butthurt because she raised some valid point. Not just about Lori but about continuity in the story lines, characters.. And as the poster of this stupid and pointless post said, some people "just won't watch the show" anymore. Like me. And there lies the point of the person Lenkov was responding to: this season sucks-->losing viewers. I'm French so it won't matter if I stop watching anyways.
I don't like Lori either, and i wonder how she ever got the part. That said,we need to remember something called free speech,i'm not saying i agree with the person who tweeted,i don't even know what was said exactly.People should be able to say what they want, just do it without malice. And don't forget, its just a show.
ReplyDeleteShe's not a love interest YET. It's pretty obvious that the show is gradually trying to go there.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of the Lori character but she's decent enough. I don't mind her being there. I think her character works best when she's arguing with McGarrett. That is where her character shows the most personality. She shows a vitality in those scenes that doesn't come through otherwise. In most of her other scenes, she's quite bland and nondescript. I have a similar problem with Kono.
Anyway, I completely agree about the ridiculous hate. The level of immersion into a show you'd have to reach to resort to threats over a character or storyline is extremely disturbing.
Everyone needs to relax! Lori is just a character! It's ok if you don't like her because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but to stop watching the show for that reason is ridiculous. Don't stop watching a show based on one character that you dont like! For everyone out there who stopped watching because of Lori you don't deserve to watch because you are not a true fan. A true fan sticks with a show through thick and thin. They don't stop watching beacuse of one character. I am a super true fan, and Peter Lenkov can always count on me to keep watching! Hawaii Five-0 all the way!!!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone is entitled to their opinion, but to get that upset about a tv show is ridiculous. I read the post before it was deleted. I don't remember how she said it exactly, but she was talking about being upset and that she would welcome a heart attack. Really? Over a tv show? I'm not particularly fond of the character of Lori myself, but that kind of response is sad and ridiculous. Peter Lenkov might have overreacted, but no more than she did.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree that no one should be making threats against anyone especially regarding a tv show. There's no need to take something like that so seriously. However, having read the blog post in question, it wasn't a threat. Yes it was awkwardly phrased but it was pretty clear the writer was talking about declining viewers/possible cancellation if the show continued in the direction it was taking. Quoting a small section in a tweet made the blog post look way worse than it was.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said. And like you, I am not a a Lori fan.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, the use of loose is incorrect. Lose is the correct usage here. I hope fans of H50 will be polite in their blogs and tweets, especially to H50, cast and crew. It is totally uncalled for. I am really enjoying H50. H50, cast and crew are doing a great job.
ReplyDeleteAnd that some posters here are defending what that nuts posted, just proves how crazy these woman are. A few need to get a life and stop thinking Alex is their boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe some people is defending that woman's post or giving excuses about it. Some people need to get a life and stop thinking Alex O. is their boyfriend. Because all of this is from those lunatics in love with Alex O.
ReplyDeleteThese woman have been in sites trashing fans of the Original show , actors of the Original show , fans of Castle , and anyone that didn't think Alex O. is the most amazing man on earth. Now they trash the new aditions to the show because if they could get their wish Alex would be the only person there. They don't get the show was losing viewers because he is not a strong actor. People don't watch a show just to see a shirtless guy.
ReplyDeleteAccording to them the show is moving into a wrong direction because they need to focus more in Alex and no new people.
This time they have gone a step forward picking on Peter L. But of course she got scared and apologized to him. They need therapy.
I am so happy I dumped this show.Who wants to be involved with this kind of fandom?
Peter Lenkov could care less about the fans unless they agree with everything he does. He could have soothed a lot of ruffled feathers if he would even acknowledge that he hears those who are not happy with the direction the show has taken...that the voice of the fans matter. I have read his twitter page..he only acknowledges positive feedback. I find it interesting that when he does address dissatisfaction, he uses a fan who apparently gives all of us who disagree with his decisions a bad name. The man seems to have an ego the size of Texas....
