Three months after his high profile departure from Glee, Chord Overstreet is in final talks to return to the show on a recurring basis, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Assuming the deal closes — and I’m told it definitely will — Overstreet will reprise his role as the sweet, sculpted Sam beginning with this season’s eighth episode (tentatively scheduled to air in early December).
“We missed Chord and Chord missed us,” says a source close to the show. “It’s a win-win.”

I feel like he didn't add that much to the show...as in character-wise. He was a great character, though. I just think it would get more complicated with more characters, and the character of Sam would just mess up those trying to keep everybody straight. Nothing against Chord.

ReplyDeleteThe Powers that Be at "Glee" are caving to the fans' outcry by bringing Overstreet back, thus backing off from a decision which we were made to believe was primarily a creative one, and one they believed in at that -- or else why would Murphy have subjected himself to all that mess?
And on the other hand, Overstreet is basically acknowledging he has got no better career move than to return to show that -- rather inexplicably, so it seemed -- dumped him.
OK, sorry if this comes off too cynical, I don't even watch "Glee", but that's just how I see this situation.
I love this, he's returning because his music career flopped completely, so coming back to the show, who's viewership is equally flopping. Drinks all round?

ReplyDeleteDarren Criss and Chris Colfer just wet a part of the fanbase panties. They need Chord back to ensnare the drifties.
ReplyDeleteEven if I applaud Chord's sense of self-worth, it was not a very wise move career wise to leave Glee when they walked over him, a lot of people say that you have to take it like a champ your first years before really breaking through.
Does that means that Samcedes is bacon? It's the only thing I care about this really :D
They didn't actually dump him, he chose to leave, or so I believe... I think it was because his contract wasn't picked up to become a series regular.

ReplyDeleteI want to see that Sam/Mercedes drama! Even if it was a case of "pair the spares', their relationship, properly played, would be something fresh on the show, instead of just juggling the fans' favourites.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, the writers seem to do little less than what the fans want them to. Which is kinda sad, because they seem not to have any ideas of their own, just creating a bunch of poorly developed characters and waiting to see what the fandom makes of them.

ReplyDeleteI'm excited. Sam had some real potential as a character, even if the second season didn't know what to do with him. I hope they don't waste his character again.
ReplyDeleteI liked his character, but am wondering how he will be utilized especially since they have all those kids from the project guest starring this season in addition to Sugar's character... could be overload

I agreed until the end of last season. I loved his story line with the whole no money, living in a one room hotel. it was better then tina ever got, or mike (before asian F) or LOL that dude in season 1 that spoke once HAHA
