Am I the only one who isn't feeling the direction of this season? It's great that Peter is back, but I think it was too long of an arc. So......now what?? Can we return to the original timeline please??
I forgot we have another week to go,bummer. This episode is going to be awesome! Its going to rock!!! I was reading a newspaper before and with dvr,Fringe is up 45 %,from 3.3 million to 5 million.Seems like there taking this into consideration. The paper claimed that Fringe was the champ with these numbers. We knew this all along, Lets hope that the gods that be at Fox take that to heart.
Too long of an arc? Peter was gone for four episodes and now he is back. I assume this is going to lead into the motives of the new shape shifters and the Observers.
As for returning to the original timeline I think that isn't an option. Even if it is I don't think it would be as simple as everything being as it was before.
So I stand corrected. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. You have very fast eyes!! All I saw was red in a syringe so my mind went directly to blood.
Me too, but even if... there is still time to wrap it up. I trust the writers implicitly. This is their story and try as we might they are gonna write it, and not us, so I've learned to treat it as if it is a really big long novel. I plan on finishing it regardless of the ending or outcome.
I have dropped the attitude of: "Man I wasted all this time watching these characters to only have them do this...etc" Lord knows I read many a book that didn't end exactly the way I'd have done it, but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the journey to the end-point.
LOST is the best example I can give, I enjoyed every single minute of the show for 6+ years, all the way until, they went into the light. Yes It gave me tears, and a snuggly wuggly feeling, but in reality I'd have ended it differently. But that doesn't take away all the years of enjoyment I had getting there.
I Read the entire story of Stephen Kings "The Stand", I loved every page, right up until the final few pages, but i had to breath deep and realize it was his story to tell, and mine to absorb.
so I guess i said all that to say, that for me I am stress free over the whole Fringe situation, because i trust the writers to finish their story the best way they see fit, while operating within the constraints of the time they have been given.
Even if this be the final season I know that Pinkner & Wyman will not let us down or leave us dangling.
Upon examining this photo a little closer, I say that this is not Peter's arm at all. It is way too feminine to be a man arm, plus the boob under the pocket kinda seals the deal. My theory is that this is the arm of the Asian chick shape-shifter. And the guy giving the injection is Massive Dynamic scientist Malcolm Truss, played by Arye Gross. So that would mean that I kinda was right, it is blood... taken from someone with a high amount of heavy metals in their system, just like the season premiere.
I hope so. I just thought that every season deals with one kind of element. Example: Lost-season 2 the hatch, 3 the others, 4 the rescue, etc..... Fringe has stuck to this 2 universe plot for almost the entire series' run. Fringe science has so much more. I'm was just expecting the 2 universe stuff to end by now.
By arc, I mean the 2 universe story.I just thought that every season of a show deals with one kind of element. Example: Lost-season 2 the hatch, 3 the others, 4 the rescue, etc..... Fringe has stuck to this 2 universe plot for almost the entire series' run. Fringe science has so much more. I'm was just expecting the 2 universe stuff to end by now.
I honestly don't know if they are ever gonna go back to the original timeline, or if they should if that is what you mean by "The 2 universe stuff". But if you mean that they should have abandoned one of the universes (that we have been following for 2 full seasons) by now then I think you are missing the entire point of the show. That would be like LOST abandoning the island.
On the subject of the new timeline; If they do end up back to the original timeline then we'll hear a lot of folks complaining, and/or wondering: What about these new Fringies? So I think the best solution would be for us all to realize that for better or worse the old timeline is dead, and the characters we knew are now different.
I think the only way to undo what has been done is; if the writers do something drastic, like the theoretical example I'm about to give. Keep in mind that this would be the only way to "fix" this reset from a narrative standpoint without compromising the Characters we knew, or the ones we are getting to know.
Now this is just a theory I have given a small amount of though to, it is plausible, but not probable. But as I said it would nicely tie up all the loos ends for us if this does happen. The only thing will be that we as the audience might feel a bit cheated for this whole reset arc if it is true. So without further ado...
Peter will wake up in the hospital after having suffered a severe concussion from his season 3 Jaunt with the Machine, as we saw in "6:02am EST"/ "The Last Sam Weiss".
Remember when he woke up he mysteriously took a cab to New York city to find his Father "The Secretary", he even asked for his dad by that title at the Statue of Liberty when talking to the cop that wouldn't let him pass the police tape. I've often wondered why he'd refer to his dad as "The Secretary" when he knows he is over here, and not over there. This has been sort of tossed aside as confusion on his part, but he'd have no reference to even go there since he was raised by our Walter. Even though he knows his true identity, it was totally out of character for him to do that, considering the fact that he knew his real Father was behind the the soon to be destruction of his adoptive universe.
So all of this we have seen, from the moment he "woke up" in the hospital following his brush with the Machine, is a dream in his comatose mind. The Potential future that we and he saw (including the death of his beloved Olivia at the hands of his real father), the whole idea of going back and bridging the universes, to the apparent new timeline that is a result of that going back and undoing what was seemingly done. All of that would be a figment of his imagination, not to mention all of what is still happening at the moment.
Now you may say: Well that's cool and all but why do that? Well from a storytelling standpoint it will be a lesson to Peter, one he will use to help him fully realize his choices and impact on this universe, it may also stand as a blueprint for what to do and not to do as well.
The solution to many inconsistent and seemingly dropped storylines would be fixed. Such as: Man X, Olivia said it was the man who is gonna kill her, but we all saw Walternate kill her, and now she isn't dead at all, and as far as we know there was never an LSD trip into her mind so Man X may not even exist in this capacity in the new timeline. So that would again be a factor instead of an inconsistency. Also the Shape-Shifter murder plotline that Peter had going on will be back in play as well. I'm sure there are several more, but this post is long enough.
But my point is that if I can come up with this idea in a mere few minutes in my head, then who much more can the Fringe writing staff do in 18 episodes.
I totally agree with you!I wached Lost faithfully for 4 years (I started watching after season 2 ended since then I was old enough to understand it!) and I kept watching till the end.It was not what I had initially expected but I still loved it because I was commited to the show and connected with it... I do trust the writers as well and they haven't disappointed me yet (maybe a little with baby Henry but whatever he is gone now so...) but I want them to end Fringe when THEY decide, not when FOX decides because of low ratings...That's all!
WOW!You should write your own show! That could actually really work. And everything else would be explained (I mean even small things like we know Peter will find out about Henry but how can he is Henry doesn't exist in the new timeline?) Well done.Although if you're right, you just ruined the excitement for me!haha!
I was thinking Blood with high amounts of heavy metals but possibly with the plasma stripped out, kinda like what they used in the premiere, but now that I think about it the stuff the Shape-shifter injected in the premiere had a greenish/yellowish/Orange- ish tint to it.
"But if you mean that they should have abandoned one of the universes (that we have been following for 2 full seasons) by now then I think you are missing the entire point of the show. That would be like LOST abandoning the island." Great point and awesome theory. Yes, Man X and among a few more holes are the ones that are being tossed aside (for now) that are bothering me.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I never hated two weeks of hiatus this much. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D
ReplyDeleteAWESOME. It would be double awesome if the episode was this week, but oh well. It seems we can't have it all ¬¬
ReplyDeletethis looks so awesome!!!! i have very high expectations for this ep...!!! looks like we are finally going to have a really good ep this season!
ReplyDeleteahhhh!!! Poor Peter!
ReplyDeleteWow Fringe... how can you do this to my heart? That look between Olivia and Peter was big.
ReplyDelete"If I'm already dead in both universes Walter then what am I doing here?"
ReplyDeleteBest line evah!!!!!
Blood, DNA test, to blow their minds!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Peter and the look Liv gave him, ouch!
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who isn't feeling the direction of this season? It's great that Peter is back, but I think it was too long of an arc. So......now what?? Can we return to the original timeline please??
ReplyDeleteIts a bit daft bringing Peter back and then not having a show for two weeks! Are they trying to sink the show? Crazy.
ReplyDeleteWe have 18 more episodes to sort all this stuff out. What, you don't think they can do it?
ReplyDeleteJust the opposite, they are trying to create more suspense, plus Fall Sweeps starts next week, it is about money in the long run
ReplyDeleteThis storyline is going to be both fun and frustrating to watch at the same time.
ReplyDeleteIf you think that will blow minds, let's see if Peter tells them the WHOLE story including the fact that he's Walternate's biological son.
ReplyDeleteWaiting sucks so hard
ReplyDeleteagreed
ReplyDeleteOh man I can't wait. Peter Peter Peter Two weeks is two weeks to0 long. Goodness
ReplyDeleteOh gosh! Every time I see it I just think POOR PETER!
ReplyDeleteWonder how it's gonna play out;)
Poor Peter. Poor Walter. Two weeks?? Poor us!!
ReplyDeleteThe 28th is gonna be an epic day. Fringe and Chuck! Just a week to go =(
ReplyDeletehaha... it already is!!!
ReplyDeletePour us a stiff drink!
ReplyDeleteRimshot

The 28th needs to get here now!
ReplyDelete.....OOH.... it's gonna be huge.... as always!
ReplyDeleteI just hope these 18 episodes won't be the last episodes for Fringe...
ReplyDeleteI need to see this episode right now!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHate that it's not on THIS week.
ReplyDeleteI got goosebumps watching this trailer. So stocked to see where they will take this!
ReplyDeleteactually, if you se the capture the liquid is being injected, not extracted...
ReplyDeleteCan anyone post the screencaps after 00:55 sec???

Ha! Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe shirt is a match to the shape-shifter from other scenes in the preview, as well. It doesn't look like blood to me, though. Too transparent.
