This week's ep was my fave so far and next week's looks even better! I'm not sure why people are complaining about pacing or how they're doing this storyline and what not but I've loved it. seriously amazing episode tonight. I'm gonna rewatch it a few times tonight. Loved all the throwbacks to previous eps, there were A LOT.
Totally. I often wonder the same thing about all the complaints I've read. Some people just want what they want and want it now I guess. Patience is a virtue. Agree that this was the best so far this season too. And yes I'll be up all night re-watching this one too.
I have loved the effects of last season on the characters... Well, all but one effect. With Peter missing they cannot go too directly into the myth arc and that is my favorite aspect of Fringe and when Fringe is at its best usually.
I wonder where the myth arc will go this season! Seems obvious it'll be some hybrid of Peter's return and the "bridge," but what route it'll take, I have no idea.
This beginning run of episodes with its somewhat light mythology and absent characters (I use plural because of the very light presence of Over There) reminds me of season three of Lost.
Speaking of which, I wonder how Over There is reacting to the bridge...
The main problem I have figuring it out is that it all depends on the endgame - and I have no frikking idea of Fringe's end game! XD
The first thing that still bothers me some is how the machine was turned on. We know Walternate turned it on in an attempt to destory Blue universe, but if only Peter could turn it on before..... who acted as the power source this time around?
Then that leads to how was the Bridge Room created? If it was created when the machine was turned on.... wouldn't they wonder how and by who?
The second thing that still bothers me is the Observer's goal. What did erasing Peter correct exactly? What did it fix?
Walter still seems to have done all his previous experiments.. or similar. Walter still opened up a portal the other side and caused the instability between the two universes which in turn caused Walternate to turn on the machine.
So the Observer's goal was not to avoid conflict between the two universes. Their goal was not to avoid instability between the two universes.
The only thing I can see that's changed drastically is that there is now no Peter/Fauxlivia baby.
If that was the Observer's goal it changes just about everything I thought I knew....
Erasing one of your main characters from existence after three seasons is definitely a bold move in terms of continuity. They seem to be handling it well but on the other hand, I really hope they don't just ignore the major ones like how the machine was activated. The implication that Peter and Fauxlivia's baby was somehow used to turn it on in the original timeline always felt nonsensical but I was willing to forgive that, not sure if I can forgive them ignoring this, not that I'm anticipating they will.
*Jaw drops to the floor... Then picks it up with left hand* I'm gonna watch this promo a few more times to let it sink it! Writer's you've done it again! I cannot wait till next Friday! Are we there yet?
I'm excited for this one. However, I checked my cable box and it looks like a new episode of FRINGE isn't airing on the 21st, but a repeat. So, I'm betting Peter comes back at the very end of next Friday, and that will lead as a cliffhanger into a small hiatus.
*laughter* That's okay, we've waited almost 6 months for Peter to re-materialize, what's a few more weeks to pay off on that? XD It looks like a great episode, though. I'm thrilled at having Nina back, too, and stuff to do with what looks like Cortexiphan.
I agree with you on the fauxbaby. It didn't make sence to bring it in the show just to turn on the machine. They could have got Peter's DNA otherwise (because basically that's what they needed)
I think we aren't done with the baby yet.I think there is something else, like little Henry will play a role somehow in the future.
To be honest I always thought that if our olivia and Peter had a baby THAT would be the important one.Their faces where both on the drawings, imagine a person coming from them.He/she would definately be important.
Coming back to the machine,Peter had to be there (or his DNA) to turn it on.If September never saved the other Peter from drowning in the lake, how did everyone know that Peter was important and that he was connected to the machine?
And how did the people from the other universe find out about our universe if young Olivia has never met Peter, talk to him so that he convinces her to talk to Walter which leades to her crossing over???
So many questions answered but I have faith and trust on the writers. And patience.
4x03 was the BEST episode so far and I can't wait to see next week's episode!!!
To maybe answer your question this is an extract from a Jasica interview SPOILER:
We have heard that once Peter does return, there will be a new conspiracy emerging that requires the team's full attention and full man-power. What can you tease about that story arc? J.N.: All I can say really is that there is something from the past-- past, past past, and you have to think we’re in a different reality now and what universe are we in, so something in the past has come back, and you know, it has kind of been established that our universes don’t trust each other and they think the other one is guilty or whatever but what is essentially happening that there is a possibility that there is an outside force that has nothing to do with these universes but is affecting these universes. And you discover what it is and it’s going to be that these universes, as difficult as it’s been to kind of get on the same page, they’re going to really have to for serious, for serious join forces or otherwise everything is just going to go crazy—which we’ve established before…But really, if you don’t get together, things are going to go crazy now!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I can't...No words...
