  2. If anyone is interested, last week the complete Blu-ray set of Caprica was released in France.

I'm saying that because there are no plans for such a release in the US, and because Caprica was such a fantastic show worth buying on Blu-ray, I thought it might interest someone.

This Blu-ray set is region free, there are 5 dics for all 18 episodes, the video format is 1080i, there are english/french audio tracks (DTS-HD) and french/english subtitles. The shipping from amazon.fr is free if you live in France, Monaco, Belgium, Switzerland or Luxembourg, otherwise there's a little fee.

    - The uncut version of the pilot + all 17 episodes.
    - Deleted scenes for all the episodes (except episodes 1.12, 1.15, 1.16 & 1.18).
    - Audio commentaries from the cast & crew on all the episodes (except episodes 1.12, 1.14 to 1.17).
    - 8 videoblogs.
    - 5 making-of about the origins of the show, the design, the special effets, etc (35 minutes).
    - The original soundtrack from Bear McCreary.

Here's a link to amazon.fr for this product that I personally will purchase, being a big fan this prequel series to Battlestar Galactica : http://www.amazon.fr/Caprica-Lint%C3%A9grale-Blu-ray-Alessandra-Torresani/dp/B0057YFYP0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320061119&sr=8-1

  3. Holy crap :D! I don't know that I'll order it any time soon, but that looks fantastic. Why on Earth is it being released in France and not out here? Did it do really well over there? Anyway, thanks for the info.

  4. I feel like, at some point in my life, I should sit down and watch those 20 season of L&O. That must be a nice release for fans. Otherwise, I'm happy to see the special edition of The Office UK. I never got around to seeing the Christmas Specials, so it's nice to see everything in one reasonably priced place.

Also, does anyone know if Smallville is worth it in HD? I'm about to start a Smallville Re-Watch (I own seasons 1 - 6), but I stopped watching during Season 7. Should I invest in the blurays, or just pick up the DVDs currently on sale at futureshop for 19.99?

  5. I don't really know. Caprica aired on a small cable channel (SyFy Universal) from May 29, 2011 to July 24, 2011. The news that the show would be out on Blu-ray exclusively over here was announced on July 1, the first 10 episodes were broadcast at that point. I don't know how this works but I guess it takes time to decide to release a show on Blu-ray, especially if it hasn't been done in any other country, it probably takes more than a month so I assume they would've released it in Blu-ray no matter what. Battlestar Galactica has a good reputation in France, it's not extremely popular but the reruns do well on NRJ12, a mildly successful free access channel targeting a young audience, maybe it had leverage in this very pleasant decision from Universal France execs.

It's not the first time we have an exclusive release though, I don't think the complete Blu-ray set of Prison Break is available anywhere else (seasons 1 & 3 are the only ones released on Blu-ray in the US). Also, I recall The Shield season 6 and Damages season 3 were out on DVD here before anywhere else, and the same is going to happen with the first season of Shameless, which will be released on DVD/Blu-ray on December 7 in France, but it's just 3 weeks prior to the US release (Dec 27).

Also, like Caprica, the complete Blu-ray set of The Event will be out in a month over here and the show has not been announced for a Blu-ray release in the US (the DVDs were released in August so there's not much chance it will happen now). So if anyone's interested in a Blu-ray set for The Event, you can check it out on amazon.fr as well. Personally I'm hesitating to purchase since the ending was a little frustrating (it could have been worse though) but all in all this show was a pretty good entertainment.

im really pist at this because i bought all 9 seasons of smallville on dvd and i dont want to really spend 200$ on the complete series unless i can like trade in the dvd sets for cheaper ones. If i cant, then im sticking with the season 10 dvd for now.
