I agree. I also don't get why Alexis got mad at the end. In other circumstances maybe, cause Castle is still working with her, and that puts him in danger, she could blame her. But in this situation when it's definitely not Beckett's fault it seems weird to me. Maybe after whole episode I understand her behavior.
"I saw this work in 'Die Hard'" - nothing good can come of that line. I love the way he delivered it, too: like he honestly believed that was a normal thing to say, and of course it would completely reassure Martha!
I also agree that the ending of the scene between Alexis and Beckett felt a bit OTT - but I trust the writers to make this work in; perhaps we have yet to see another contributing factor. Ooh, I just got a cold shiver: imaging if Alexis made Castle choose between her or Beckett...!!!
But put yourself mentally in Alexis's shoes. She's not exactly thinking rationally at the moment, she's under a lot of stress and she's got no one to hold her hand this time. She's used to having her daddy, her grandma and now Ashley when she needs help and support. Besides, her father is in danger again and she associates now all the danger with his partnership to Beckett. What's more, she's still got lots of unresolved feelings since the shooting. Give her some slack. :) I think the scene was great and had everything I'd expect from it.
Actually, I think this is setting the stage for Alexis to treat Beckett as that "other hand to hold." For Alexis to see it matters just as much to Beckett that Castle's safe.
I think that was the Alexis/Beckett scene Molly tweeted about. I definitely understand her being upset, crisis situations with loved ones make everyone snap. I just hope she doesn't blame Beckett, this could have happened whether Castle knew her or not and it's lucky that he does know her because she got people there to help right away. Plus she'll do everything in her power to get he and Martha out safely. Wonder if Ashley is okay, 'cause it seems like Alexis tries to get a hold of him several times from the pics and the clip. Beckett looks so nervous about being the negotiator, I love how much Stana can express without any words. For the one who always wants to be prepared for everything, she is definitely outside of her comfort zone here with their lives on the line. Haha, Oh Castle, of course you saw it in "Die Hard". The guy he first talks to seems really suspicious to me. Martha is awesome, her expression is the perfect "oh crap, what is my son going to do now?" I have to say, there better be a hug or some expression on Beckett's part about how glad she is that Castle is okay at the end of the ep...the scene in his apartment is going to be key I think. I have high hopes for this episode and I cannot wait to see it!!!
I like the way you put this, and I really hope that's what the writers decide to do. I was hoping that this episode allowed Alexis to see how much Beckett cares, and have that outside point of view to the fact that Beckett does love her dad. Beckett is someone Alexis respects and likes, and I would like for them to get that back because you know Beckett cares about her too
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Amazing :) Can't wait!

Agree, in Alexis's eyes, her dad sticks out his neck for Beckett all the time and gets little in return.
ReplyDeleteCastle:"Tell me you need me." I think that took Beckett by surprise. She was thinking something else. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is gonna be soo good!!! :)
