I think the series is getting better each year honestly.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite episodes were in Season 3... and I guess still are, but they have been matched by or surpassed by a couple in Season 4. Box Cutter and the last 4 episodes of Season 4 will go in my Top 10 list for sure... Crawl space and Box Cutter might go in my Top 5.
I like the first season's. The last one werent so good for me.
ReplyDeleteI think Season 3 was the strongest. They have all been excellent, and Season 4 is a very close second, but I found Season 3 more interesting and tense.

ReplyDeleteIf I'd had to choose my fav season 4 episode right now, I'd have to say Crawl Space. That just left me stunned.
Best season? I was struggling with finding a decision whether s3 or s4, but I guess s4 was a notch better for me. But that may have been one incredibly hard decision. I'm just glad there's a show that's able to set the bar so high.
I went back and forth with the 2 seasons also.
ReplyDeleteI think 3 was stronger through the entire season... but the last 4 episodes of Season 4 I think are possibly 4 of the strongest episodes of the series. Definitely the best 4 episodes in a row....
totally. unless the season finale had been so predictable, the whole season would have been top 3 for me (comparing to every show i've watched, of course, even lost).
ReplyDeleteI didn't enjoy Box Cutter so so so so much ("so much" only), but after Crawl Space W.W. became my top1 character, beating John Locke himself.
That's pretty much how I feel. Season 3 was the best season overall (and the final two episodes were probably my favourite to date), but Season 4 did have more of the best episodes in a row. Still, it started off a little less awesome than I would have liked and meandered a bit in the middle. I thought then pacing was pretty decent with regards to where each episode ended, but still, Season 3 did a better job in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteIdea for season 5 - I re-watched Gus' flashback in Hermanos and Don Eladio said that the only reason he didn't kill Gus was because he knows who he is, but also that he isn't in Chile anymore. Then there was nothing more mentioned about this, so maybe it was a bit of a setup for the final season and Gus' friends/family from Chile will play a big role.
ReplyDeleteOne big thing definitely will be Walt's ongoing transformation into scarface. Someone on another site said he hopes that the last season will be Walt versus Jesse (after finding out about Brock and Jane). Might be interesting too.
Half Measures was my favourite episode until I saw Crawl Space. Gilligan definitely knows how to end a season, but after all, there's hardly anything that ever disappointed on Breaking Bad.
ReplyDeleteSeason 4 really got incredibly after Problem Dog. From Hermanos on it was just awesome with the last 3 episodes being just pretty much perfect. That's why I decided to go with season 4. Maybe I'll change my mind after a while. Season 4 and the last episodes are just really strong and fresh in my memory.
The latter paragraph is exactly what I think is going to happen. I've been worried about Jesse finding out about Jane since Season 2. For a show that NEVER forgets to deal with the consequences of every tiny action taken, that's a big one to leave behind.
ReplyDeleteThen there's the issue of the probably dead or at least paralyzed Ted Beneke. That's going to be a big deal.
I think one of the reasons I didn't like S4 as much as S3 is that I saw the ending coming (with the lily of the valley). S3 was just one big ball of shocking, while S4 I saw coming an episode or two in advance.
ReplyDeleteI expected Gus to die, it simply had to happen, but even though Walt was heading down a dark path I just didn't actually expect him to be responsible for Brock's condition.
ReplyDeleteThey situation about Jane has been often mentioned in several interviews and I'm certain it will be uncovered. Rather sooner than later now that we are getting close to the end of BB.
ReplyDeleteMost of my favorite episodes were on season 3, but in a general looking on the whole season, seasons 2 and 4 were built smarter (2 - The pink rabbit and the cousins; 4 - Walt's plan and the journey to kill Gus). But in the end, Season 4 was much more intense and clever, and I had a seizure after every single episode... so my heart goes with the 4th Season :)
ReplyDeleteS4 without a doubt and not just because its the latest and fresh in my memory (because I only justed watch S1-S3 in the last few months) I think this season has built so well on the previous storylines and characters and the last 4 episodes have been mind blowing

Season 4 is definitely my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI guess Season 5 will be about Walt become almost totally Heisenberg. And also the clash with Hank and Jesse.
Season 4 is my favorite season, followed by Season 3.

ReplyDeleteDamnit, this is hard! (yes, twss, I know :P) Season 1 and 2 are equally as good as each other for me, then S4, then S3 I suppose.
ReplyDeleteJesse's journey in S4 is probably my favourite arc, but I do miss the days of the RV in the desert in many ways.

Dag, I'm late, but yeah, season 3's my favorite. So many great episodes, slow builds with explosive payoffs. Favorite episodes of the series are mostly in season 3, examples being "Fly", "Half Measures", "One Minute", "Full Measures". Season has to be the second best, "Box Cutter," "Salud," and "Crawlspace" being the best episodes of that season.

Yeah Crawl Space was pretty epic. That ending was one of the most spine-tingling scenes I have ever seen.
