SYFY’S BEING HUMAN RETURNS

MONDAY, JANUARY 16 AT 9:00PM ET/PT

Breakout Supernatural Drama Stars

Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington

Orlando, FL – October 10, 2011 – The second season of Syfy’s hit drama series Being Human will premiere on Monday, January 16 at 9PM, it was announced today. The season will consist of 13 new episodes and anchor Syfy’s “Powerful Mondays” programming block. Being Human stars Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington.

Being human: nobody ever said it was easy. But when you’re a ghost, a vampire, and a werewolf, it may be completely impossible. The action picks up where last season’s explosive finale left off as Aidan (Witwer), Sally (Rath) and Josh (Huntington) continue to struggle with their supernatural double lives.

Aidan tries to steer a leaderless Boston while resisting his deadlier vampire instincts as he finds himself tempted and tormented by a figure from his past. Sally must face the consequences of missing her door while figuring out how to navigate life on earth as a ghost. Josh searches for a cure for his condition while struggling to maintain his relationship with Nora and, like the rest of his roommates, trying to build a future for himself beyond simply being a monster. Guest stars this season include Dichen Lachman (Dollhouse) as Suren and Kyle Schmid (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants).

Being Human is a Muse Entertainment production in association with ZODIAK USA and is based on the acclaimed series created by Toby Whithouse and produced by Touchpaper. Executive Producers are Michael Prupas (The Kennedys, Pillars of the Earth), Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) and Anna Fricke (Men in Trees, Everwood) who are both writers/showrunners, Adam Kane (The Mentalist, Heroes), and Rob Pursey and Toby Whithouse. Irene Litinsky is series Producer.

Season one of Syfy’s Being Human averaged 1.81 million viewers per episode making it the channel’s most successful winter season scripted series launch since 2005. With 53% of its total audience comprised of women, the show became the channel’s most female-skewing scripted series ever.

    Having never seen the original British show, I really enjoyed the first season.  The actors are great.  I'm looking forward to its return!

    I love the original and I really like this version as well but I hope they vary the storyline more because it was too much like the original's first season.

    I love the original British series and quite liked the syfy version as well.   (Still perplexed about the name changes though. :-)  If I got a chance to ask the show runners a question that's top of my list.) 

    I liked a lot of the differences as well.  The only things I didn't really like were the werewolf design.  (That's one I had to file under "Hated it"  It was such a problem for me that I would get kicked out of the story every time George shifted.)  And pregnancy story was rushed.  I think it would have been better if their relationship had had the time to grow more solid before adding a baby and the possibility of her becoming a werewolf. My mind is open, but I'm just not sure that the story would be better off having to deal with both at once.  

    That said...I lot of what they did with the stories in the SyFy version.  They set up some interesting stuff and I'm curious where they're planning to take it in their second season.

    Well, the producers said that they're not going to watch season 2 of the UK version, let's hope they were saying the truth, anyway, I loved the 1st. season and I'm dying to watch this new one.

    well I'll fill you in.... there's no comparing the two.. the UK Being Human is far better...but over all its worth a watch but its not even in the same league as the org...
